Winners? Men? Professionals? Champions? Legends?

I think a better question is “who wouldn’t be motivated to play for a manager like Jose?” and the answer I come up with is stupid little men-children who would rather get off training early to play FIFA and who care more about their likes/posts ratio for their latest hairstyle than they do their goals/assists record

It does all go back to Jose's incompetence. He's incompetent as in he's been no better than the last 2 knobheads we called incompetent. But to both of our points, Pogba isn't seeing Mata/Fred/Pereira/Herrera when he's on the field. It's typically more like Fellaini/Young/Valencia/Smalling/Lukaku/Lingard/Matic/McTominay hahaha. All due respect to those guys who try very hard, but they are not good. They aren't technical. They cannot keep the ball. They resort to long balls because they aren't good enough to play another way. We have technical players like you mentioned either sitting on the bench or not even making the bench to give way to these punters.
And Mata, Fred, Pereira and Herrera are world beaters, ok.

I agree 100% with Jose (if indeed he said that)

Paul Pogba is one of the most technically gifted players I have seen at Old Trafford. He is also one of the most clueless, most spoiled and most selfish

I think all of us on this forum agree that one of SAFs strengths was knowing a “cancerous” player or attitude when he saw one. The minute the likes of Stam, RvN or Ince stepped out of line they were gone (and Pogba the first time for that matter!)

I would urge people to listen to the Gary Neville episode of the “Quickly Kevin” football podcasts. Gary talks about the competitive spirit, the professionalism and the hatred of losing that was prevalent in the Utd dressing room during his playing career. It goes a long way to explaining how we were able to be so dominant.

We have too many weak, mollycoddled, overpaid, mercenary footballers at this club right now and until that changes we will continue to underperform.
That's our biggest issue imo.

Well, he has been regarded as one of the best managers around, and won so much for a reason. How the hell did he manage to do that if players aren't motivated to play for him?
That was past, football moves on. You improve your methods or you are left behind.

Calling someone Virus and then leaking it to press, shitting on club at every opportunity, calling all his players not good enough is a shit management.

Btw he was regarded as one of the best managers.

He won the league not to long ago. Although not to say he has been up there for a while, but he should still be a capable manager. We'll just have to see how long this rot continues after Mourinho. If nothing changes structurally and these issues go on for long after, then it's safe to say Mourinho wasn't working under ideal conditions.

I agree that what he has been doing, calling out players isn't good. It's apparent that he doesn't mesh well with certain personalities though. When they buy in to his ways, he can work wonders, but when they don't, it can go south quickly.

Of course he is a capable manager not top manager like he was.

If we don't win anything after Jose then it will be how we are bad and it wasn't Jose's mistake
If we win anything then it's how Jose laid foundation for our future success just like his fans argued in Chelsea's and Madrid case.

If he doesn't mesh with certain personalities then he should avoid signing them. Funny how so many of these players worked under lot of managers but it's only Jose who questions their attitude, professionalism and it's also funny how it's only Jose who ends up with viruses in dressing room.

Amazing that this myth that SAF pushed Pogba out the door is still being spread. We were pretty desperate to keep him and I’m sure I remember an interview which Fergie said it was Raiola was the problem.

Pogba in his attack attack attack interview also complained about movement. They say Jose isn't telling the players not to make runs but I believe whatever he does tell them isn't wholly compatible with fluid movement. It's like how he plays palm trees in midfield then complains about pressing in interviews

And there you have it. It's not the way he plays or anything else, it's Pogba daring to question the mighty Mourinho. Good on Pogba, I wish more of the players stood up to the terrible tactics.

Why do you want to spoil such a fairy tale? It's been pointed out 100 times and people will still ignore it to make their point.

Pogba must look around him when he's on the ball and think, "Can't go to you, you'll lose it. Hmmm you will too. And you too. And oh there goes Marcus making the same silly run. And oh I'll save you some stick (Romelu) by not passing to you so it doesn't bounce off your shin and hit your nose."

I agree that it would be nice if Pogba gave 100% effort every single game, but I also feel for him. He deserves to be in a team with players that aren't afraid to keep the ball. And it must suck for him knowing that whoever it goes to will either lose it or punt it upfield. No matter what he's being paid, this is not what he was sold by Ed, Jose and the club when he signed. He was promised much much more than this.

Now he's 1/3rd into a season and already knows there's nothing to play for. I can forgive the guy for having a few off days. It happens to any superstars that play on bad teams, especially in the middle of the season.
Agreed. He's wasted on this team.

Fergie was absolutely fuming after Pogbas move to Juventus was sorted, anyone who thinks Fergie wasn't desperate to keep Pogba needs their heads checked.

Happy some players are prepared to stand up to him.
Exactly this. Said it before, but Pogba is speaking for the vast majority of us that want Jose out. And Jose’s just got his minions thinking Pogba is the problem.

No idea if anyone is speaking for anyone but themselves, but as i said a long time ago, Mourinho's habit of having a go at certain players while others get a free pass and unlimited playing time is going to get him into trouble with the rest of the squad.

Lukakus interview with him smiling and admitting he's a Mourinho favourite because he'll "go through a brick wall" for him is fine enough when everything is going well and he's scoring..

Yeah that's it. Anyone you disagree with must just be influenced by Jose. You personally don't see a problem with Pogba so why would anyone else?

Said it a million times, it's not a Jose vs Pogba issue. You don't have to take one side over the other.

You can think Jose is a miserable cnut who should have been sacked months ago whilst at the same time thinking Pogba was a disgrace on Saturday and it's not the first time he's put in similar half arsed displays in 2018.

That's certainly what I think anyway.

Pogba is saying things that probably 9/10 members here would agree with. It's refreshing yet clearly thankless. I'm just shocked by the number of message board posters that feel like it's fine for them to have a go at the club and at the manager, but are aghast when the star employee does it. As if it affects the message board warriors more than it does Pogba and the players. For whatever number of reasons, people see this as Pogba being selfish when in all reality he's put his head on the line for the club and fans when no one else will. Getting dragged through the coals in the media, compared to Balotelli on here! He may not be remembered fondly because of the dysfunction during his time here, but if he is the impetus for major change then he'll deserve a different sort of credit from the fans.

Edit: I am adding here because I am out of posts for the day...but can we talk about how Pogba's performance Saturday (bad as it was) is somehow more appalling than the club's management? Than the club more or less throwing in the towel on the first of December? Again, there's something about Pogba that really irks people, but he's done nothing that the club in general hasn't already done this season. He and all the players and the manager and all of us know there's nothing to play for.

@RedorDead21 What you say down below would be fair...if Jose hadn't conceded the league before the season began. Why is the burden on Pogba to perform for that man, or any of the players for that matter? When he's thrown all but a couple of them (a couple of the most visibly inept footballers mind you) under the bus to protect himself. Pogba may be a selfish person, but compared to Mourinho he's Mother Theresa.

If there is no options on in football you recycle the ball, Rashford and Martial bothtend to stay wide, to stretch the play and then come inside to create a shooting chance, Linguard and Mata, start wide but always come inside, so there is always a passing option, what Pogba needs to do is take one touch and move the ball, can any one name one other footballer in world football today, who prances around on the ball like Pogba.

The new fad, is high pressing, so taking more than one or two touches on the ball you are asking for trouble, unless you are a speed merchant playing on the wings or a player with good ball control in tight spaces, you are going to find yourself on the continously loosing the ball.

There is nothing to play for because Pogs and others chose not to buy into how Jose likes to win matches. Its proven to win matches. Its pretty decent to watch as well. Not great. But decent and when trophies are added....It's great. Its about commitment and effort and Pogs isnt given his all to Jose. Fair enough he doesnt like him but thats no reason to not throw yourself and your talent at your manager's plan to benefit the team. It would certainly work far better if he did and encouraged others to do the same by his attitude. Thats how players like Pogs go on to win the Ballon D'or....season after season not allowing such a poor side of your game to show.....Ronaldo wouldn't give any manager on earth the satisfaction of giving only 80% of his effort.....he was always a good pro even when clashes occurred, with Mou as well. Namely because he's selfishly always wanting to be the very best.

How convenient that Castles reported the virus part but did not include the Pogba riposte. I guess its easy to know who's fond of leaking things to the press.

If Pogba said what he allegedly said and in a calm and collected manor in a discussion in the dressing room; which the article seems to indicate: all credit to him. Especially if he was indeed called a virus before replying.
And he is also completely right. We dont commit nearly enough people in front of the ball in possession or on the counter.
Its the big issue with Mourinhos style of play - always have always will be - and also why Pogba is ill-suited to this type of defensive set-up.
It cant be fun to only have a static Lukaku in front of you when we recover the ball or even when we are in possession.

That's our biggest issue imo.
We have a cancer core of players he loves on why he is living in a dark age of football that’s division 2 standard of player.
Unless we see the back of
Young, valencia, smalling, Jones, matic, fellaini, mctomnay, lukaku

This is the core of players who he loves, and that is the foundation of failure that he keeps persisting with, and why this football side can never go places. These players are bulletproof, and it’s proven, delot, bailly, Shaw, pogba, Fred, herrera, Perriera, martial, rashford all who improves united but they will never be seen has fave. We could buy world class players right and left, matic, Fellaini, smalling, young, Valencia, Jones and lukaku are still going to be starting games, and that’s 80% of the teams line up

Replace young, smalling, matic, fellaini, lukaku with delot, Bailly, pogba, fred and rashford you already and upgrade of a team to build with. But until we take out the trash with this crazy old man with them, we will be a banter club

I’m not the one saying we should sack Jose. If there’s a manager ready to take over, get rid. If not, feck this Carrick nonsense that’s being posted about.
Agreed 100%.

We need to wait for the correct candidate, before pulling the trigger on Jose.
Rui Faria left and it seems the coaches who replaced him are incapable of emulating him, let alone surpassing what he did.

With a bit of luck, when the new manager comes in, he'll have a complete clear-out of our current back room staff. The whole bunch of them are proving themselves to be next to useless.
The question which keeps getting asked, "what do we do in training?" Jose, Carrick and McKenna should answer this question.

The worry with letting Pogba go, is how hard it was to get players of that ilk in to start with.
You lose Pogba, you're losing the only even vague flair in the centre mid, and Fellaini-Matic combos will be the go to option
Pogba has been woeful recently. Nobody can argue against this.
In his last match, he was embarrassingly bad and should've been hooked at half time.
If he decides that he doesn't like the next manager, then exactly the same shenanigans will take place.
I prefer that the manager have absolute power and if he fails to deliver, then he gets sacked. When players have too much power, it is difficult to see if the problem is the manager or the players.

Game over. All starting to come out now.

Woodward has a lot to answer for letting it get to this stage.

Cnut Mourinho should have been binned in the summer. "But hey, he got 2nd!" fcuk off.
C'mon now, that 2nd place trophy is the best we won in the last 5 years and the best we can possibly win in the next 5 and I am only half joking.
