XXXTentacion was the third most streamed artist on Spotify this year with Emo Hip Hop the fastest growing genre. I wonder if it has peaked or if next year will be the year of Emo Hip Hop. Latin Hip Hop/Pop seems to be growing in prominence too with the rise Cardi B, Bad Bunny etc.

Whoa that JID album was terrible. How can any sane human listen to that stuff.
Why do you feel the need to put down others' opinions instead of just sharing your own opinion?

 talking about sneak dissing, he's the one that leaked personal info about Drake to Pusha. Like someone said a new album must be coming out, building up the anticipation for a diss track on it.

Nah he didn’t, 40 (Drake’s producer) was pillow talking with a girl he was sleeping with, and that girl gave the information to Pusha.

But I agree, Kanye’s album must be done because the timing of all this is just weird

And you believe that because Pusha said it?

Considering everything else he revealed in the interview, yes. I think it's far more likely, than Kanye just spreading gossip purely for beef, especially since Drake was due to release an adidas line, which would help Kanye's financial interests.

If you have time you should listen to the the interview - it was on the Joe Budden podcast back in like mid-October time, and they talk through the entire timeline of everything that happened from the very beginning of the beef.

Do I believe everything Pusha said in that interview? No, of course not and I think we discussed it in this thread - but considering all the secrets these rappers & famous people share between each other, it doesn't make sense for Kanye to release information about Drake just for the purpose of helping Pusha. It makes even less sense considering Kanye then doesn't even help Pusha during the beef.

If I get some time I might have a listen, don't really like the podcast as it's become an echo chamber. I think everyone is underestimating Kanye, he might come off as a loose cannon but behind it all is a cold calculating guy imo.

Interesting, what makes you feel like it's an echo chamber?

I agree on Kanye, he plays the fool but he knows what he's doing, and he knows the reaction he'll get when he does it also.
I just think on that particular topic, he wasn't the one to leak the information - but when it comes to things like wearing the MAGA hat and everything else, he's in full control of his actions.

2 weeks away from the end of the year, and with no major releases due now - shall we do some end of year lists?

Pick any or all of the following;

- Top 5 albums of the year
- Favourite album of the year
- Underrated album of the year
- Worst album of the year
- Rapper of the year (doesn't necessarily have to be strictly music-related but could be overall impact, for example)
- Worst rapper of the year
- Top 5 singles/songs
- Best moments
- Whatever else you feel like

This isn't from this year, it's from 2017, but I first saw it this year, so maybe a few others might not've seen it before either.

It really showcases just how adept Noname's flow is and how fecking good and tight her band are, if any of you have got 15 mins spare and like contemporary conscious Hip-Hop, give it a spin and enjoy...

- Top 5 albums of the year
1. (by some distance) Astroworld - Travis Scott
2. Carter V - Lil Wayne
3. Daytona - Pusha T
4 . Care for Me - Saba
5. Testing - A$AP

- Underrated album of the year
Have to admit it, I really like Dummy Boy, Tekashi 69. A complete surprise, hardly a classic but has a lot to like about it. Think Kamakaze was big time overhyped to begin with, but after the MGK exchanges we literally forgot about Em. Overrated then somewhat Underated.

- Worst album of the year
Most disappointed rather than worst, but has to be Nasir.

- Rapper of the year (doesn't necessarily have to be strictly music-related but could be overall impact, for example)
Kanye West. A lot of respect for the man. Seriously suffering from mental health issues in full view of the wold. The man must be stronger than all his haters combined. Some great productions this year, Fashion lines blew up, dealt with a hell of a lot of shit this year.

- Top 5 singles/songs
1. Hustonfornicattion - Travis Scott
2. Mona Lisa - lil Wayne (feat. Kendrick)
3. If You Know, You Know - Pusha T
4. Roses - Saint Jhn
5. Carousel - Travis Scott (feat Frank Ocean)

2018 wasn’t as good as 2017, but overall pretty good.

Listened to a Kendrick Lamar track for the first time a couple of weeks ago(Swimming Pools), I'm not that into hip hop. Now I'm hooked. His albums have been on repeat since.

Dreamville is setting up to have a good year according to Cole.

Thoughts on 'Middle Child'?

I think it's good, nothing too exciting but from the lyrics it sounds like he's tired of being overlooked, and is ready to prove the haters wrong.
I've been very harsh on him in recent years, so i'll be happy to be proven wrong.

Also Andre 3k had a great feature on James Blake's album - "Where's the Catch?" (really good album)

Decent track. I wish he would just snap more on tracks though. I don’t think I can stomach a full Cole album which is a shame because I think he’s dope when he’s on.

That single was good, classic Cole without many cringeworthy lyrics. James Blake's album was good, not my cup of tea but I have a couple of female friends who stan for him and they were quite happy.

That's been my main gripe with his last 2 albums - his feature verses are very good, but 3 verses of Cole on 10-15 tracks can be tedious.
His fans will support him enough so his albums will push numbers regardless of what he puts out, but that can lead to complacency. Drake and a few others suffer from the same.

Yeah FHD was amazing but I was underwhelmed by FYEO and KOD though KOD was an improvement. His features last year were great though. He's excellent at actually catering it to the song and not just sending in a random verse. Pretty Little Fears w/ 6LACK, Tribe w/ Bas, Off Deez w/ JID, a lot w/ 21 Savage.

Weird hearing him with autotuney flow but it's good.
