The bookies seem to be making Laurent Blanc the overwhelming favourite for Interim manager. I know he is possession based, but what are his tactics like.

Be careful what you wish for!

Certainly Jose had to go, now or at the end of the season, fourth place now out of sight and the defeat against Liverpool and the manner of it (never really laid a glove on them!) finally did for him. However, who comes in? We are a broken club at the moment, players who are either not good enough or don't want to play for the shirt, who can rebuild us with Woodward in charge of the purse strings?

Which top manager would leave his current job to pick up a basket case as we have become?
It can only be ZZ, only one (top manager) out of work just now, if he turns us down, need to get LvG back!... I said be careful what you wish for!

Is this a joke?

We're not going to be rehiring Van Gaal for feck sake.

And even if results don't improve, I still won't be thinking Ah I wish we kept Jose.

I doubt it will happen, but would love to see them bring in Jardim with the thought that we sign him full-time if he can show some progress.

What I'd hate to see is Carrick. As a player, he was the antithesis of modern, pressing football. He's been at United for over a decade and has never been associated with any team playing with a modern style.

Can we give him Lukaku as a payout?

Insted if 22 million he would get 75 million in asset.
There’s also the sentimental value Jose holds for Romelu.

That’s surely a better deal for everyone involved.
He would eat him out of house and home

Simon Stone said this at the end of his article:

The club also says the new manager will understand the philosophy of the club, including its attacking traditions.
I'm gonna assume that's about any future manager, caretaker or permanent.

Jose seems to think Perez will welcome him back with open arms but I think he caused too much damage in his relationship with the players, (which he regularly seems to do.) Don't know if Inter have enough cash for him to build the team he wants.
They have physical striker icardi, they have perisic, srikinar, brozovic all Jose kind of players. Though lets see what happens.

Queiroz was an interesting name I saw on Twitter. Gets the club, nice style of football, good training ground coach.

Not an option to be manager but might have been a steady hand
What interesting style? Extremely defensive.

I'm saying, that turning around a club in crisis is a different skill set than throwing in a manager we think will win us trophies next season. You need someone with experience to guide you out of stormy waters, not someone who's never been in this position before.
I’d be worried if any new manager couldn’t handle a crisis.

Agree. But in any case not backing him after renewing a contract was daft.
Are you serious with this @Ban?

Great news but almost 4 months later, he should have been sacked during preseason, or even at the end of last season. Again the club too late to react; it was clear since last season that Mourinho was a mistake that should have been rectified but we waited almost 1 year to react. Anyway, better late than never and I'm amazed at people thanking him, thank him for what exactly? He's been a poison for this club and he did unprecedented damages to this club; dishonored the club, devised the fans and insulted the club several times. He has been nothing but a poison to this club and people are thanking him!:houllier:.
Good luck for the rest of his career but would never thank him; I just hope his time at high level is finished.

Was under the impression that when he was basically running the day to day at United that we played a style of football that both fans and players enjoyed

Wow, we have been careful, any manager is better than Mourinho he was literally doing worse than Moyes. Stop getting all cocky because it can't get worse from this position.

Besides, if no managers are available maybe it's time to see what one of our ex players that played under SAF can do (Carrick, Giggs etc) until the end of the season. Loads of options have just opened up.

Blanc makes the most sense for now. It would be amazing if we could get Poch, I doubt it though, he's onto a very good thing at Spurs. In a way I would love to see Eddie Howe have a go but I doubt that risk would be taken.

He is not defensive when at United. By all accounts SAF let him do what goes on the pitch and it was his tactics and his way that we beat Barca in the semis. Any coach of Iran has to play defensively if they are to make anything out of it in the World Cup.

Haven’t even hired a replacement yet and I’m already more interested in seeing out the rest of the season.

Read the BBC article:
  • Mourinho wanted to work within his own structure - the club will be looking to add a head of football.
Jose be like - "How can i get myself that bonus £6m payment???.. hmmm.. Let me object to something that's good for the club."

Poisonous person.

Whatever happens now, please don’t appoint Simeone, Conte, Allegri, Benitez, Jardim or another one of many pragmatic / defensive managers. I want the excitement back.

Simeone would be one of the worst possible choices we could make, so I suppose he’ll be the next manager.
He rejected Chelsea in the past, so i hope he rejects us too if we approach him. I think he wants to work with clubs he played at, so his next destination should be in Italy IMO.

I'm no football nerd, but I know his football is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Would be a great interim appointment which could give us an outside shot at getting 4th in the league.
