May have to be Plan B from now on.
This. If the style we played today was a sense of what's to come then he'll be fine. He actually plays very well interchanging short passes for Belgium with his fellow attackers before bursting into the box to finish.Disappointed with this thread. Actually can’t wait to see him under a different manager.
In this system with everyone moving and trying, you would think the service will improve to him dramatically. There is a quality footballer in there, we'll see it as well. I agree. He'll be a given chance too and rightly so.
Same here.Disappointed with this thread. Actually can’t wait to see him under a different manager.
RVN was one of the best in the world, one of the best strikers Utd have ever had and was capable of hitting 30-40 goals a season. It’s true we played through him when he was here, and in his last season he suffered as we played differently. However, Lukuku is not fit to lace his boots. We could play through him, and he’s only going to get 20 goals. RVN actually had good build up play, Lukuku offeres nothing if he doesn’t get a goal.I'm wondering if you can see this being a RVN type of situation, if we play football like this with Lukaku who can barely control a ball half the time I can't see him adapting or being a positive influence. RVN scored goals and he's one of my all time favourite players for United, but I think most people will agree, and Fergie would, that we played better as a unit when we had Saha and Rooney, instead of RVN. Either way, i don't want to see him play for us again to be honest..
This... seriously people need to go look at him at the World Cup. He’s at his best with fluid moving football where he can use his strength and pace to destroy defenders.Create chances for him and he’ll score.
Oh without a doubt, i wasn't comparing them as players, because RVN is levels above Lukaku, but the situation reminds me somewhat of what we could have before long, in that Rashford and Martial I believe are vastly better in their overall play than Lukaku, whilst Lukaku maybe the better pure finisher, if we continue to play like we are today, and say maybe Pochettino comes in, Lukaku won't fit in these situations, he's no Harry Kane and he isn't as mobile and quick as Martial and Rashford. So just how when we started playing a bit different RVN suffered a bit and we seemed to be better with Saha and Rooney.RVN was one of the best in the world, one of the best strikers Utd have ever had and was capable of hitting 30-40 goals a season. Can you imagine how Lukuku would have ruined the Martial goal today if he was involved at any point.
I think we are on the same page. The goals will get shared around without him, we were so fluid today. Great to see.Oh without a doubt, i wasn't comparing them as players, because RVN is levels above Lukaku, but the situation reminds me somewhat of what we could have before long, in that Rashford and Martial I believe are vastly better in their overall play than Lukaku, whilst Lukaku maybe the better pure finisher, if we continue to play like we are today, and say maybe Pochettino comes in, Lukaku won't fit in these situations, he's no Harry Kane and he isn't as mobile and quick as Martial and Rashford. We can also look at him ‘since’ the World Cup, where we created many chances for him that he didn’t score. And Belgium didn’t lay loads of chances on a plate for him anyway, that is a myth that keeps being pushed on here. He wasn’t fed chance after chance in the WC. He scored goals against the likes of Panama, and his control cost him against England I recall.This... seriously people need to go look at him at the World Cup. I get the impression we will see a different beast under Ole!
The world cup when his all goals in competition came against Tunisia and Panama ?This... seriously people need to go look at him at the World Cup. He’s at his best with fluid moving football where he can use his strength and pace to destroy defenders.

He is now playing for his future. He’s had it very comfortable under Jose. Now he needs to pull his finger out, lose some weight, get fitter and actually start playing when he’s given an opportunity. He will get matches, and I would love it if he actually starts putting in a good shift. We all know he’s not good enough for us, but we still need a contribution from him this season and if (big IF) he can out in some decent performances then he might get a transfer to a reasonable team in the summer.I think he's in trouble. A fight on his hands to displace Rashford or Martial who were both excellent
The club didn't reveal so probably a family issue he doesn't want anyone to know.Sorry if it's already been covered, but do we know why exactly Lukaku is away from the team on compassionate leave? For personal reasons we don't know?
Also, I'm curious to know if he's come out and said anything on social media after Mourinho's departure.
Brother was in the Lazio squad. The club didn't reveal so probably a family issue he doesn't want anyone to know.
Maybe he will travel later ?Brother was in the Lazio squad.
Sánchez? He’s a dynamic link player capable of scoring. Think he’d do much better with freedom.Lets be honest, he may have got 1 goal today but he would've ruined all the fluidity, interchanging, quick passing and running up front.
I'd sell him in January if it meant getting it a Firmino type CF.
He isn't strong. He is not able to hold the ball up (he gets easily dispossessed by smaller/lighter defenders). The ball bounces off of him, so he can't get involved in quick build up play. You are going to think Lukaku would be dropped for this? No chance, he is only one that can hold linkup and stronger than most CBs, it would allow inside forward like Rashford, Martial to go in without defender blocking them. If his first touch can be improved, he's the perfect striker for Ole's system.
I'd be tempted to use Greenwood, to see just how well he plays in the senior team. If he does well, sell Lukaku in the Summer. No need for a replacement.Lets be honest, he may have got 1 goal today but he would've ruined all the fluidity, interchanging, quick passing and running up front.
