You really want to make this into an argument? Don't be a prick.
Argument? :D it looks like you started with the sarcastic comment and he continued from there. What's the problem?

Just making sure it wasn't a dream. Good. Horrendous manager, thinking man's posters pretending they were never toxic or condescending when people showed him up for the rubbish manager that he is can rest assured that I will keep rubbing it in.

"B-but we have genuine reasons to think the way we did s-so there!"

Bottomline: we were right, factually proven to be right with his disaster seasand the deserved sacking that followed. We answered 2 to the question 1+1= , your lot answered 3. and dared to give it large. stupidity is a genuine reason for your error. Doesn't make you less wrong.

He’s just upset his man is gone and he doesn’t know who he’ll be supporting next until someone is stupid enough to hire Jose again. It’s kind of like a really hard breakup for some. But they should be reminded on a daily basis of their pseudo-intelligent, condescending posts when people dared to question their infallible leader.

At least most of us could see what was in front of us and how shit of a job Mourinho was doing. For us sensible ones, we knew it was a mere matter of time before the trigger was inevitably pulled and his reign of terror ended.

Nah. His negative, shite tactics and toxic personality is what killed him. He only has himself to blame.

Regarding the second bolded bit: then why on Earth did Mourinho insist on having his team sit so deep? It was obvious to everyone that it didn’t work. It killed our creativity, invited pressure (which made it extremely difficult for the team to transition effectively) and made us more (not less) vulnerable defensively. Yet Mourinho persisted and refused to adapt.

Do you really think that signing Perisic, swapping Martial for Willian (which I seem to remember you being a big advocate for at the time), and buying another CB or two would’ve made much of a difference?
First of all I never wanted to swap Willian for Martial. I just wanted Willian signed. Yes I do believe we needed players who specialised in transitions because Pogba cannot do that all on his own. He is very good at it as he showed at the world cup but he cannot do it alone.

Jose persisted with it because he wanted the team to understand and grow with the mentality of being resiliant and becoming powerful in transitions. If a manager wants to create a machine in a certain way and he has his vision I do not see a problem with it. That goes for any manager, not just Mourinho. We needed to add width, players strong in transition and players with the ability to build play from deep areas. It didn’t happen.

We don't have to play in transitions though.
I thought it would be better for us to keep Jose for as long as we were Improving so we had to back him or sack him. William provides a great counter balance to Hazard and Neymar so its not a crime to think he could provide the same service for Martial.
But everybody lost their shit every time Neil Custis fabricated a transfer story about us so what he could provide on the pitch for us was lost behind nonsense about his age.
I'd still take William here if fantasies about Dembele etc can be pushed aside.

It really was a cult following. I think we had a lot of admirers of Jose from his Chelsea and Inter days which is weird because I can't get my head around liking an opposition manager. What he's done to gain such an adulation amongst our fans for having done so little I have no idea. he's Chelsea's most successful manager and even they don't like him! And we had some fans still defending him to the hilt after he publically embarrassed the club with some of his comments and continued to drag the club through the mud whilst lowering the bar of expectations further and further . Truly pathetic.

If he can't do it for Real Madrid and Manchester United, there's no chance he'll do it for anyone else.
I guess that’s true. David Moyes probably still thinks he was right. Ordinary mortals like us on a forum barely shift from our stance. Fat chance Jose will.

You have a problem with my post? It was right to sack him but that doesn’t change what I think he was trying to do here.
Of course, I have a problem with your post. You think Mou being fired is entirely down to us not signing the needed players, players on the roster lacking warrior mentality and you seriously believe player power caused Mou to lose the dressing room battles all the while ignoring his ridiculous politicking, his outdated tactics, his constant bullying and throwing of players under the bus etc?

Firstly, Willian is shite. Look at Chelsea fans criticizing Sarri for continuing to start him. The guy is a winger version of Welbeck, period.

All this talk about providing width, pace etc is guff if a winger can't score. We already have Lingard averaging 3-4 goals a season (might improve under Ole, but still...), so we don't need another one.

Secondly, Jose did not have the grand vision you are claiming. He had a vision alright -- buy a workhorse for a RW who would be his yes man in the dressing room, one CB and try to win every game 1-0. Something like the second half of Chelsea's 14/15 title winning season. Trouble is, the league's changed and moved on, but he hasn't.

I for one, am glad we won't be targeting the likes of Willian or Perisic anymore. Whoever we appoint won't be a dinosaur obsessed with workhorses over flair players.

Yes you did. I checked your posting history. Calling you a ‘big advocate’ for it may have been an exaggeration, but you certainly weren’t opposed to it. You also called Woody a cnut for wanting to give Martial a new contract when Mourinho didn’t. Look through anyone’s posting history (including mine) on this site and you’re bound to find a lot of stupid, self-contradictory shite, I get that, but you kind of have to own that one.

And after 2 1/2 years and close to £400m spent he ended up with a team that was neither resilient or good in transition. That’s some brilliant management right there.

Ban has always striked as a level-headed poster. I'm sure he just argued with some excessive whining which you misserable cnuts probably took as being a José fanboy (which seems to be the norm here these days). Give it a couple of months and you will have found something else to whine about and a new "cult" to vent your teenage frustration on.

People care so much about being proven right, on a fecking online forum with virtual avatars and identities. It's truly bizarre

The man is gone, it's time to move on from him.

 I just found it funny he started with sarcastic comment and then after few exchanges ended up warning robbie not to start argument. Why not just avoid it all together if you're so easily offended?

I never wanted Martial sold. Im pretty sure I repeated that many times. Wanting to sign Willian can be seperate from wanting Martial sold.

After handing him a contract and then with him finishing 2nd they should have backed him. Im not sure how the board expected someone like Jose to react to a summer like the one we had, he has a documented history. If Jose can only really count on Pogba to transition and build play then of course we are going to be in deep shit. When he also doesn’t get along with Paul it was the end. I dont see what is controversial about claming that.

Yeah and Barca bid 60 million for Willian and Perisic helped take his team to a world cup final. Different managers will get more out of these two players. Willian has won league titles under Jose.

Barca also signed Andre Gomes. Besides, when they have natural goal-scorers, flair players and winners like Messi, Coutinho et al in the team, they can afford a workhorse who hardly scores but can provide width.

Bebe also won a title under SAF, didn't he? And if we are going by WC performances, might as well sign those Russian players too.

Need to see how much contribution Willian made to that title win. He averages 5 goals a season, that says it all. In any case, Jose's tactics are outdated and won't be winning league's anytime soon -- unless he inherits Juve or PSG teams that absolutely dominate their league.

So you think Mou can do anything he wants because he didn't get the signings he wanted in the summer because of his 'documented history'. I'm sorry to say this, but I hope you are not as stupid as you sound.

No, I already said the fault of Jose being confrontational is on himself. I never said I approved of it.

Comparing Willian to Bebe. I am not even going to bother with a proper reply.

The comparison was not in terms of talent but only an example of how a title win does not necessarily imply they are good players. Which you know well but choose to ignore. Are you trying to say Willian was a key player like Hazard in that title win?

You cite Jose's confrontational attitude as the only problem when it's clear his tactics were crap and he wouldn't have won anything had he been backed as well. That you don't admit obviously, which is why you are still defending some of his questionable decisions.

Willian was far more of a factor in the Chelsea team though so the comparison doesn't work. Bebe was a non factor.
