...and Mike Phelan. Understated hero!Wow...just wow! Amazing result! The team is buzzing, such a pleasure to watch as opposed to Van Morrison and Boorinho. Loving watching the team play again. Thanks Ole!

Dont worry about Chelsea, they are just another plastic club.Just got into work and some thoughts from my wotkmate who supports Chelsea.
(I joked to him yesterday Lukaku eho he doesn't rate would score 2)
1st : United were lucky, Mbappe missed loads and should have got a penalty. He didn't slip when he was through on goal, Smalling pushed him.
2: Never a penalty because Dalots shot was never going in.
3: PSG were missing a lot of players.
Thankfully I've been moved to another desk far away from him.
Yes my friend, you did. I was so mistaken.I hate to say it, but I told you so....
"Worst sub performances I've ever witnessed" - Christ talk about overreaction. This was the first I saw of Chong by the way. As a countryman, I really hope he'll be special, but my God, that was one of the worst sub performances I've ever witnessed. I think he lost the ball every time he got it.
Good post. Highlights the value of traditions at clubs. Both Ajax and Man Utd are still recovering from some pretty awful times (for clubs of their respective size and history..) but, but.. look at how the whole game of football reacts when you have top teams, doing incredible things with young, hard-working, homegrown players. What a great result for you guys! As Ajax fan these last two days couldn't be much better. I was really done with Man United under Mourinho, but since Ole comes it's fun again to watch you guys play.
In Amsterdam we like to play with a young talented team and it's so nice to see guys like Greenwood and Chong coming on for you in such a huge match for the club. It's such a positive sign for football that two clubs with such a big history reached the CL quarter finals by using young prospects. I would like to propose that we do the 2017 Europa League final all over in Madrid this year, but with another outcome of course
In my defense, I said one of the worst, not THE worst."Worst sub performances I've ever witnessed" - Christ talk about overreaction.
Hmm. MaybeTotally agree. I kept watching to see if Bailly was really playing as FB and I was a bit shocked. Then when the first goal was scored.... Was Bailly really hurt?
I think he was okay. Was nervous as hell but defensively was very good including a cracking tackle on di Maria. To claim that it was one of the worst sub performances in whatever context is a bit weird. In my defense, I said one of the worst, not THE worst.
Hyperbole aside, do you think he did well? For instance giving the ball away in midfield in the dying seconds, allowing PSG one last chance?
classic post. Also saved me from describing my eveningI have actual tears in my eyes while I'm going through this thread!
Looking at the reactions of players, fans, ex-players, pundits and even compliments from rival fans.
To put it into perspective I'd forgotten we even had a player called Martial until I saw his celebration video
Like many on here I got a bollocking when I finally crawled drunkenly into bed for the racket I made when I turned the still German night air blue with my screaming celebrations as Marcus buried that penalty. The volume apparently ramped up while the ref allowed play to go on into the 100th minute as I was sure the dream would be cruelly taken away by FIFA bowing to oil money once again! My decision to drink a few more beers and start going through reactions was, on reflection, probably ill-advised! As was trying to explain the significance of what had just happened to my GF when I finally hit the sack at around 1:30am.
Being immediately evicted to the couch backfired on her though because it's far too near the fridge where all the cold beer was!
He didn't do much but wasn't any different to rest of the team either. It wasn't easy keeping the ball when most are behind the ball defending and Lukaku and Rashford are marked by two-three top class defenders each.In my defense, I said one of the worst, not THE worst.

don't judge him on ten minutes or so. he will be OK - even better for the experience. I expect the kid was nervous as hell, so I'll cut him slack. This was the first I saw of Chong by the way. As a countryman, I really hope he'll be special, but my God, that was one of the worst sub performances I've ever witnessed. I think he lost the ball every time he got it.
Told you all Woody needed to do is simply get lucky on a manager to fix us in the short term. Long term is a different story, but...."Football? Bloody Hell!"
Stevie G against Utd wasn't great."Worst sub performances I've ever witnessed" - Christ talk about overreaction.
Chong plays on fast forward. Like Rashford, his touch/close control can be inconsistent as his PSG performance showed. He doesn't really have much flair to get past defenders, which is currently a problem because defenders can outmuscle him. He's really skinny right now. He's usually at his best when his close control is on point when dribbling at speed. He hasn't really had a great season compared to last season. This was the first I saw of Chong by the way. As a countryman, I really hope he'll be special, but my God, that was one of the worst sub performances I've ever witnessed. I think he lost the ball every time he got it.
That's the dose of reality you never get in training or in 'U' matches. He will learn a lot and get matured. This was the first I saw of Chong by the way. As a countryman, I really hope he'll be special, but my God, that was one of the worst sub performances I've ever witnessed. I think he lost the ball every time he got it.
To be honest I don't understand the difference between short and long term. As a club we have got success when we have prioritised winning at all costs, now and not next year (like Liverpool). Ole has brought this winning mentality and made previously average players play much beyond their previous ceilings. This is Fergie-esque and I have no doubt we can win some trophies in next seasons with 2-3 new signings.Told you all Woody needed to do is simply get lucky on a manager to fix us in the short term. Long term is a different story, but....
OLE OLE OLE
I was pretty relaxed going into it, just hoping they put up a performance and didn't get humiliated. By the end I was a gibbering wreck. Worth it though.Still can't believe it tbh, I went into the game with no hope.
I did yell at the TV there at the end. Lad almost gave me a heart attack!"Worst sub performances I've ever witnessed" - Christ talk about overreaction.
BEST PHOTO EVER!
Greatest image in recent times.
This fecker tried to win a penalty at the end, what a moron. That's right you are Marquinhos
He completed 3 out of 4 passes attempted. He also won the tackle in 89th min in the box, next phase of play we won penalty. In my defense, I said one of the worst, not THE worst.
Hyperbole aside, do you think he did well? For instance giving the ball away in midfield in the dying seconds, allowing PSG one last chance?
Why stop there?I'm not saying our name's on the trophy, but...
Remember when Liverpool lost the 2016 Europa League Final, then we showed them how it's done by winning it the following year? Or how about when they lost the 2005 & 2016 League Cup Finals, then, once again, we rocked up and won them the following year. And who can forget us winning the 2008 CL, a year after Liverpool had failed in the final?
Chill. He's a young man who came on right towards the end of an incredibly important game in the dying moments, with immense pressure. He was nervy - who can blame him? The rest of us were nervous sat on our sofas! This was the first I saw of Chong by the way. As a countryman, I really hope he'll be special, but my God, that was one of the worst sub performances I've ever witnessed. I think he lost the ball every time he got it.
Didn't we all!Fair enough, I worded it a bit harshly, meant no offense. I think it's also my Dutch football heart being desperate for him being as good as Mbappe the first time he touches the ball in the CL
Good post.As a PSG fan, I have experienced La Remontada two years ago and many diverse catastrophic events before and after Qatar acquired the club. My comments:
- Congrats to you: OGS implemented the right strategy given the circumstances: focus on the spine, straight-forward approach, 2 central strikers...
- Cursed PSG: with 3 goals which are some jokes including one in the 3 minutes of the game, especially given the context
- Overconfidence from several players before the 2nd leg: I'm not surprised that Kimpembe made a mistake even if VAR/referee is strange
- 2 of the 4 most important players out: not an excuse but we never have all the most important players on the pitch in February since several seasons. Missing Neymar and Cavani. I know that you had a lot of injured players my point still stands. PSG mainly relies on 4 major players: erratti+M'bappé+Neymar+Cavani... All the other players are secondary ones, which doesn't mean they are not good but I mean they can be replaced.
- Cursed Neymar . Let's say we had 4 critical games in two seasons and he only played 1 game: the first leg against Madrid last season and he was absolutely brilliant (best player on the pitch for me), injured before the 2nd leg, unavailable against United.
- Failure of German players who made to play for Arsenal and not for PSG: I'm sure @oneniltothearsenal would enjoy Kehrer and Draxler. They are like kids
- Failure of experienced players like Buffon and Dani Alves : we don't need them for the future, trust Areola and Meunier
- From a tactical standpoint, the right-wing was weak: Kehrer/35-year-old Dani Alves/Draxler is a unit which lacks power, pace and energy. And PSG is cursed but it's part of our DNA since the 80s in a certain sense.
And to those who think PSG is a "superficial club", I just believe they are parrots with a limited football knowledge and appreciation and it's obvious that PSG fans at home and away have demonstrated PSG's soul is much more powerful than most of the Premier League clubs.
The club is still capable to retain M'bappé/Neymar/Cavani/Verratti for another year. If they are all available in February and if some adjustments are made in defence, then please be sure the club can win the Champions League next season
