It would be great to have Barcelona vs City. I hope we get Porto, Ajax, Spurs, Bayern/Liverpool. Juventus, City and Barcelona seem way to good for us at the moment.

Juventus now favourites for the CL for me.
I think their lack of consistent threat will do them in for me. If Ronaldo isn't banging them in then they are out of ideas going forward.

Atletico were pathetic tonight, offered absolutely nothing going forward and basically allowed Juventus to throw everything at them for 90 minutes.

We will need lots of luck to win CL this year, if not we will easily be facing the same result we had against arsenal whoever the opposition is.

They are still the most well rounded team after Barca. Can score and defend without major weaknesses.

I hope they draw Barca (assuming Lyon doesn't upset them), one of those two need to go for others to stand a chance.

Meh that's wishful thinking. Likely we will play both Barcelona and Juve at the same time in the next round and City will just automatically go through to the semis.

Funny that for all our upheaval we've beaten juventus and psg this year. Shouldbt fear anyone but id still take a nice draw in a heartbeat

City should really be getting to the final. Natural slumps from top teams like Madrid barca bayern United. City don't have slumps due to level of investment in recent years. 8 injuries would still see them put out a stronger team than others. This also means that they can play rested teams in pretty much all domestic Cup draws and routine league games. Attacking on all fronts when you spend like they have is pretty easy. Huge failure if they fail to make it this year

Preference:
QF - vs Porto (Ole recreates the Mourinho celebration at the Dragao)
SF- vs Juventus (Herrera to channel his inner Roy Keane)
Final- vs Bayern (20 years from the '99 final in Barcelona, we beat them in another CL final in Spain, with Alexis playing the role of Teddy and Juan being our Ole )

They don't ?? When have they even won back to back league titles or consistently reached the semi final of the CL ?

Juve will take some stoppinghowever I do wonder whether last night's game was their peak performance in CL this season.

Atletico were poor though. Lemar was wasteful, Griezemann invisible. No one took the game to Juve.

Ronaldo was phenomenonal. I hope our forwards watch that... and see the benefits of improving your heading ability. None of our forwards show any real desire to attack the ball with their head. None of them. It's frustrating.

Ronaldo is the most godly talented human being I've ever seen at his movement for a header. It's not how he heads the ball it's the way he can see plays 1-2 seconds before anyone else on the pitch. The same reason he's a goal machine with his feet is also why he is with his head. If our players were to develop whatever super power he has in his heading anticipation they would also be machines with their feet

It's not just his heading ability, it's his desire and movement to get ahead of defenders to head the ball. Just look at first goal, doubt any one would have scored that, in most cases defender would have headed the ball away.

Ideally would like to see Juve face City - get one of them out in the next round. Don’t really mind who we get otherwise - as long as we avoid those two I’m happy.

None of them has the fitness and desire like he does in football.

What didn't happen last season as we went out will happen this season I feel, Uefa will draw 2 English teams together yet again and it will include us. If scouse go through it can be either city or liv for us, that's my feeling.

Since Atletico are gone, I'd like:
Man City - Barcelona
Juventus - Bayern/Pool
Spurs - Ajax/Porto
Man Utd - Ajax/Porto
Amazing that 4 of the last 8 could be premier league sides. When was the last time that happened? Germany could have none, Italy and Spain just one, France none.

Last two seasons I mean. Theyve reached the pinnacle of their investment on and off the pitch at a time when domestic and international rivals are not as fearsome. They should absolutely be in the final. Big failure not to

Would that be a bad thing? At least then we'd have a decent chance of going through. We know the English sides well, it's the European sides that are the problem.

We'll find out soon enough but in Europe they're nothing special yet

I think it was 2007/2008. Ourselves, along with Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal made the quarter finals.

We went on to win it... ;)

Edit: Actually, after double checking, it happened the following season as well 2008/2009 with the same four teams. We made the final again.

2006/2007 and 2010/2011 had three English teams in the Quarter Finals as well. This was the period when English football was at its strongest for a while. I think we could be getting back to that stage now whilst Real Madrid are poor, there are only two very good German teams, and only one Italian team who you can really say are incredibly strong.

Ya i guess so. Still don't see the non English teams as strong as recent years and city have been playing by different rules to most clubs.

My guess is

City v barca
Vs
United v Liverpool

Juventus v ajax
Vs
Porto v Tottenham
