I’m nervous as feck for these. I want to avoid City and Juve, and to an extent Barca. I don’t mind anyone else.

Our luck in draws this season have been shit, so not expecting it to change.

Barcelona have exceptional players but I'm not sure that they are that good now. They have Messi but their work rate is suspect: they can't match City and Liverpool physically wise and that might be a significant problem. Chelsea created them a lot of problems last season, hit woodwork 4 times and the final result was misleading.

I want us to face Ajax this round. Show De Ligt around the stadium and convince him to sign for us .

Next round has to be Spurs- Solskjaer vs Poch- Solskjaer wins it and is given the job.

Final vs Juventus/Barcelona- Lingard ends the debate of who the GOAT is by scoring a hat-trick

All things considered, Porto or Ajax is practical and ideal, but if we do draw Liverpool for instance, I wouldn't mind. Need to avenge that humiliating EL defeat under LvG. They hold the record of beating us in the only European competition we faced each other.

We've an outside chance apart from the 4 form teams in Europe. Of these I just hope we don't draw City. The rest I think we can give a good account of ourselves. Bring on Liverpool. Lukaku to subjugate VVD for 180 mins.

It's gonna be City or Liverpool isn't it.

Hopefully, we play the second leg at home, that's all that matters for me. if we can get one of Ajax, Porto, Spurs or Juve, all the better.

I think that Juve and Spurs are at our level. For me, Juve are a little overrated when put with City, Liverpool and Barcelona.

No matter who we draw there's added spice,

The EPL teams are obviously rivals we know well
Juventus have one of our best players ever in their ranks and are out for revenge after the smash and grab in Turin in the group stages
Barcelona were the immovable object from 2 CL finals
Ajax have Blind on the pitch and VDS in the background and a Europa League beating they will want to avenge
Porto of course with their 2004 victory etched in memory forever

Hard to imagine all 4 English sides avoiding one another, just hope we do

Spurs would be a good draw for us IMO.
From a perspective of going through to the Semi's maybe but I'd prefer to play a non English side, that's what the UCL should be all about at the end of the day

In that case what draw would have the best chance of an all English Semi Final?

Man City vs. Barcelona
Man Utd vs. Porto
Liverpool v Juventus
Tottenham vs. Ajax

Ideal situation will be to have one half of the draw with the following teams: Barcelona, Juventus, Man City and Liverpool.

In this case, it doesn't matter who plays who as they will be eliminating each other, and we may only meet any of them in the final. If our half of the draw includes Spurs, Porto and Ajax, final will be a possibility for sure.

I'd love that as a draw tbh, Barca beat City, Ajax beat Spurs, Juve beat Liverpool and obviously we beat Porto

I realise that's not what you were asking but I honestly think all the English teams bar us would go out in that draw

I don't trust other teams to stop Liverpool or City but I would rather get one over either of them in the final. Barca is suspect defensively and Juve while a hard team to break is nothing special either, old and slow defense and the likes of Emre Can in the middle that offer very really creatively making forwards to leave of the scraps. We no longer managed by Jose and are getting all our injured players back soon, meaning we can go back to Ole's preferred dynamic midfield and front 3. I fancy our chances against any of the teams in the pot but don't want English team in the QF purely because of what comes with it.

Fair enough, I hear you.

Me personally, I don't care too much about whether or not it is an English club, I just want us to get as far as possible in the competition, and drawing Spurs in the next round would give us a good chance of progressing I think. If the likes of Liverpool vs City draw eachother, it means we'll get to play a European club in the latter stages too.

We're going to get the hardest draw (Barca), we haven't had much luck in that regard this season.

My preferred QFs:

United - Porto
Barca - Liverpool
Juve - City
Spurs - Ajax
Mine would be similar, but I'd rather City played Barca and Liverpool played Juve.

See I think Liverpool forwards are much more suited play against slow Juve's defense as shown by their encounter against Bayern.

Perhaps, but can you imagine how amazing RAWK would be if our boy Ronaldo knocked them out of the Champions League?

Seems like there’s quite a widespread consensus about the best QF match-ups.

Let Spurs play Ajax because no one cares and Ajax might get through. Play Porto yourselves because they suck, and let the other two English teams go out vs Barca and vs Juve.

Why United?
Cause he is a Liverpool fan. What United/Liverpool fan want these teams to face each other in UCL? The quality of matches is always shit in the league, in UCL where there are even higher stakes, it would be even worse. The anticipation for the matches would be unbearable, and the losing team will remember it forever.

No thanks. Last team I want to face in UCL.

Basically, yes. I think that's what the majority here would prefer anyway.

I expect Liverpool fans would think the same? (replacing United with Liverpool of course)

Yeah, was thinking the last paragraph applies to Liverpool and United likewise. I don’t want to shit on Porto but I think drawing them would be an easy pass to the semis for each English team.

I wouldn’t mind Spurs (or Ajax) either though.

Prob a real stupid question but what way does it work with who's at home/away first? Is it just whoever comes out first is at home in first leg?

That's super weird. No way do I consider us bigger favorites than Juventus or Barca. And how on earth are Ajax and Spurs considered bigger favorites than you?

Hope we get Liverpool now. All these cocky Liverpool fans hoping they get us is too much.
