Just get rid of the rubbish that's been plaguing us for 6 years would feel like an achievement. The clearout is LONG overdue. May God help us.

Compare us to Ajax and how the two clubs have progressed since we met in the EL. That right there is the difference between a club that is run really well, and a club that is run really badly.

People gave me shit when I said PSG game was super flukey. We barely crossed the half way line but people are result obsessed around here. We never deserved that result, not in a million years.

Mourinho was the problem obviously. Pogba had the game of his life, like his last 7 or 8 games.

We buy players like Pogba for games like this. He just goes missing so easily, he’s stealing a place in the team on reputation.

He can do it against fecking Huddersfield and Brighton but not when it matters.
He played a terrible game overall but still managed to play 2 great passes that Rashford should have done better with. What annoys me is his stupid clumsy fouling where he thinks he can get the ball off an opponent by running through him

After PSG, it's been shocking. We were so giddy.

Meh.
It shows how far we are away from being a top European side.
2 individual errors leading to two goals and young and De Gea have to to be accountable. I don’t think you’d get one united fan who says we don’t need to sign a right back in the summer and this has to be priority number one for me!
Sharp in the first 5 McTominay has to get a shot away from the position he’s in.
I was fairly impressed with Fred again tonight in possession. He seemed like he was the only one of our midfielders who wanted to play a forward pass and he played between the lines well.
Pogba was anonymous again in a big game. Lingard isn’t good enough to start for Manchester United in big games and Sanchez shown more in 10 minutes than Martial has since Fulham away!
Move on, 5 games to go in the league and then the hard work starts for Ole. Getting this team to play the pressing game he clearly wants us to play but we’re incapable of doing and upgrading some of the deadwood in our squad.
I’m honestly at the point where I’m not bothered if we finish top 4 now - Oles worked miracles to get us in contention but hopefully if we miss out; it will be a wake up call to the whole club.

Just reminded me of the 2011 final against them.
A strong first 5-10mins, where we could have easily scored the first goal, and then reality kicking in and being played off the pitch. Even more so today than back then.

All in all, not really disappointed at all. We know we need a lot of work, so to beat arguably the best team in Europe was going to be a huge battle.
Just a shame that their two goals could have been avoided with a decent clearance and a once a season level massive error. And so close together too.

I doubt anyone gave you shit. Everyone knew it was flukey af but we had so many injuries so of course a miracle was needed.

First time I’ve ever given motm to someone for a 5/10 performance.

Well I can't come on here and act shocked that we were eliminated. We wee always up against it since the draw. They have the quality to beat us even if playing. My disappointment comes from how we conceded the first 2 goals. The first one in particular is absolutely criminal football in the build up. You can't be making mistakes like that against a team of this quality at the quarter final stage. They will wall all over you.

Shame as we started quite brightly indeed. A complete false dawn of course, but it gave me initial (naive) hope of a repeat of the PSG away leg

We need a sugar daddy. So that we can get rid of players who are not good enough. Some of these players are an embarrassment to the culture of the club. It's like they've seen a football for the first time.
We actually don't. We just need competent ownership that doesn't milk the profits the club makes.

Losing to Barcelona should not sound as we are not CL material. Really, Barca is very good. Winning CL is hard and I would not bet on that but being top 8 is also something.

If Ole doesn't clear out the deadwood he'll be gone by January. Start playing the kids they can't do any worse.

Very easy game for Messi and co.

They should have won by more.

Footballing lesson really. We made a good start but Messi was unbelievable and they showed their extra class where we perhaps fluffed our lines.

I quite liked the fact that we tried to play at their place but the signs are clear that if we are to compete with them then we a lot of investment is needed.

The short term goal is clear anyway. We could benefit from not being in UCL while Arsenal and Chelsea play for EL. Or I hope anyway.
Agree with this.
I don't think it's a disaster missing out for a year. Let's come back in when we have more of a chance of doing something special.

Sanchez and Lukaku were better than Martial and Rashford. Why wasn't Lukaku starting?

I'm trolling and you have guys calling for Ole's head already...

Ok mate.
Yes there are, don't conflate these things. But it's a pattern you do almost always after a bad loss, always with some botched attempt of irony. Anyway, don't forget posters were calling for SAF to be sacked before.

The night could have been different but we just sunk spectacularly after Young's mistake. Then De Gea

Rest of the match was just so hard to watch. The oles...

I'm not sure I believe Ole can turn this all around, it's certainly not his fault we're shite because we've been like it for ages. Can he turn it around though? Or will it be another 2 years of mediocrity.

We need massive changes in the structure of the club ie. DOF and to the personnel. I don't think we should have given Young a contract extension, he certainly shouldn't be starting that's for fecking sure.

He needs better players around him. He’s not going to get that here.

When I see him ambling around the pitch, not in any position to receive a pass, nor press his opponent I wonder what’s going through his head.

Started well, had the stuffing knocked out of us courtesy of our own woeful defending and never recovered against a vastly superior team. Young having to play for us in big games is a travesty, Pogba's 'frustrated' mode is so fecking annoying, Jones, McTominay and Fred had a go but were outgunned and the front three struggled on scraps but are too often nowhere near clinical enough for us.

1 Crossbar and 1 De Gea away from a compeltely different game. Leo Messi is the god of football, you can't contain him. We're out but its just a pleasure to watch that man play the game, we're lucky to be able to witness it.

Onwards to the league and the fight for top 4

Yep. They built on the progress they had already made. We just stagnated in our own complacency.

4 of that back 5 started against Basel in 2011 when we were knocked out in the group stage. 8 seasons ago. Eight.
feck me, that’s damning. Those players weren’t good enough to get us out of the group 8 years ago, how the feck have we let it get to the stage where we’re sending them out against Barcelona nearly a decade later?
