I know it might be asking a lot, but perhaps a few of you should actually watch Ole’s interview instead of going full retard after extracting whatever you want out of a contextless tweet.
Thank you!

I read the whole thing, only to find people panicking in here.

....and here it comes. The "give these players a change to prove themselves" spiel.

We are truly fecked.
I don't think it's that. More an allying of fears from his previous quotes which were pretty much 'some of these players are fecked and I already know who's off'. We're still playing for top 4 and if a couple of the players think he's already decided they're leaving, they're not exactly going to give it their all when we need them to.

This is just politics for the players to concentrate on the football and nothing else.

Do you look at our squad and think it can be fixed right away?
No. But I don't expect messages of failure. Give a chance to players. Take time. Can't do it in one window. It's the same message we have heard for 6 years and the same message failed teams make. It's unacceptable to be where we are. A disgrace. No other big team. No other big company would accept this. I know we have to be positive and give the manager a chance and you can't do it all at once etc. But how long do we go on for. It's looking like a lost decade even if we start getting our act together right now. But we are not even doing that. Looking like 15 years plus

Hmmm... Liverpool haven’t won a league in almost 3 decades, AC Milan can be added to the list.

Stop acting like babies, our Summer transfer business will decide how well we can do next year, Ole and the club might get everything they wish for and that might make us potential challengers. Or... it might be a frustrating Summer where we miss out on our top targets to other clubs.
How on Earth can we expect Ole to know now where we will be in August?

And to jump from 6 years to 15 years+ is a wee bit melodramatic don’t you think? One great transfer window can completely change the game.

I understand and generally agree with your sentiment but it's a very naive and idealistic statement to make.

For one, talking about standards can't be allowed to drop. Hello, we have Ashley Young as captain embarrassing himself every week. Our standards have already dropped.

This whole 'survival of the fittest' rubbish is to motivate the existing players as he's got no money to replace them. He can't get rid so he's doing the obvious thing. There's no way he actually wants to keep these players around.

You cannot compare SAF era to now. They were stable and stayed because we were extremely successful. Why would they leave? If you put Giggs or Scholes into today's team, I have no doubt they'd be having second thoughts just like De Gea & Pogba are now.

About the notion of selling our best player to 'send a message'. Yeah great message that.

If we follow your strategy of only buying kids like Dalot, then Pogba & De Gea have every right to either ask for more money to sacrifice a year of their career or ask to leave. It's normal. You can't expect to keep your top players when you're not competing for anything.

What else do we have to offer other than money? We have no guarantee of success to offer anymore.

Lets be real, any potential top class player is only going to be joining us for money nowadays. How are you going to convince them to join our 'project' when they can go to wherever they want? Money.

We need to pay up to get us back to where we belong, unless you want a team full of squad players and kids, which good luck competing with anytime soon.

Then when we have some success to offer, we can begin to start picking and choosing.
The problem is that this is real life and not FM, even City with their insane spending took years to get to where they are today. Regarding Pogba and Dea Gea, there is no point in keeping around players that dont want to be there and have their heads somewhere else. I would love to keep them both, but Pogba for instance is not the leader we need. We need a Keane, Stam, Vidic type of leader, someone who would run through a brick wall for the club and has a genuine aura of authority about him.

Ferguson got rid of his "best player" several times, Keane, Beckham, Stam. If they cause an upheaval in the dressing room you have two choices: Throw them out or end up like Chelsea where the players run the dressing room.

And we might not have the pulling power we had a couple of years ago, but we are still Manchester fecking United, despite our current lack of success we are still one of the most attractive sides in the world

If being a top level manager all came down to "just buying the best players" any schmuck could be manager. Everyone know we need investment, but its not just a flick with a magic wand. We already tried the quick fix "instant success" method with Jose and it failed spectacularly. No one want to see us languish in top 4 battles for years, but we need to rebuild from the ground up, simply throwing money at the problem and i can almost guarantee we will not be successful

Yep fatal error in choosing Young, agreed...

But your idea of buying success and flashing the cash is exactly what we have been doing... look how that’s turned out.

I wouldn’t say it’s idealistic or naive to think that we need to start from scratch... build the foundations and bring in some energy into the team.

It’s a cliche but Rome wasn’t built in a day.

We need to accept that we can’t attract the ready made players as like you say they wouldn’t buy into our project.

However, if we managed to obtain some young quality players that are hungry, want first team experience (which we can offer, unlike city) and that can become a part of a new generation of players than that must be the way to go?

I look at Ajax as an example. A team that struggled against us in the Europa not that long ago... now their in contention to becoming UCL finalists.

The difference for us is that if we were Ajax, we’d be able to keep the players they’re most likely going to part ways with.

A lot of our players absolutely do not 'deserve' another pre-season with us. Especially as that would mean leaving transfers until very late in the window, which is a pretty silly idea when you need to make a lot of them and the market for players has never been more competitive.

Yes- join me! I know and even applaud positivity but it's about time for reality. We are fkd. Proof? Look at the results. Look at the team. Why isn't anyone screaming? Why aren't heads rolling. It's way past the oh let's give players a chance stage. Its past the oh let's give the manager time stage. It's time to blow our budget. Time to get rid of the underlying toxic poison at the core of our club.
Liverpool haven't won for 3 decades. AC Milan. Exactly. That is where we are 3 decades of failure.

Not this bollocks again. Some of these lot have been here for more than 3-4 seasons. If they had something to prove they would've done it already. The last two manager said exact same thing

The only reason we don't want to bin half of the squad is because we can't replace them in one window
I fully agree with you. Ole' needs to be careful... We all love the guy, but he's the manager of a f***ing massive sports institution, and he better start sounding like one. Positive platitudes etc is all good post-Mourinho... But his statement re pre-season worries me.

The players at United have all had a chance. I could answer his questions if he really does not know!

I hope Ole isn't too nice for the job. I really do.

Plus the academy has been beefed up and the scouting overhauled. Both of which were in decline prior to SAF’s and Gill’s departure.

It’ll take a lot to persuade me that Woodward isn’t an idiot, but the notion that the club is doing nothing to arrest the decline is just not true.

Too nice? He shipped out Fellaini almost instantly, something neither the Iron Tulip or Mourinho could do, he’s already showed the door to the club captain.

What do you want him to say ffs? Go all Mourinho & say “they are all wank” whilst the season is still ongoing? Worked out well for Maureen that eh?

 Have some of you even watched the interview?

He’s stated that young players like Greenwood are going to be ending things for older players. He’s said he’s going to be telling players they’re not for him. He said that the attitude of some players has not impressed him and that this won’t fit with the culture he’s trying to create.

....and here it comes. The "give these players a change to prove themselves" spiel.

We are truly fecked.
I mean, the quote that was initially quoted here. It’s clearly a bloody warning. He knows already who he wants and who he doesn’t. He’s not thick. His wider point here, if you pull your heads out of your whiny arses, is that you come back to pre season in good shape and ready to follow instructions. Any player that doesn’t will not get the opportunities to display what they can do.

Ole has just given one of the best pressers we’ve seen post Ferguson and we get tossers in here focusing on the use of about 17 words to push the narrative that club are useless and Ole won’t jettison half the squad.

If we’re sat here in September and Ashley Young is starting at full back and Rojo and Darmian still stink about the bench ahead of either new signings or academy players then fair enough. I’ll be moaning all the same. But apart from that phrase (which is actually part of a wider point about not being a dickhead while on holiday) there is nothing at all that’s been indicated by Ole to suggest that he isn’t going to be ruthless in terms of squad development.

Some of the quotes here are to cringe to read. Its mindblowing how fast some lads turn on their heel. How can anyone judge ogs performance at this point. Get in, and support your coach for once.

OGS has already made his mind up about Lukaku. He’s as good as gone. So he’ll barely get a look in with Sanchez fit again. No point in playing an unfit player who doesn’t factor into next season’s plans unless injury strikes again.

I’d love to see Greenwood too, but the fact of the matter is the rest of this season is basically an audition for a few players. So I’m not gonna slate Ole for not throwing Greenwood in. He obviously factors significantly into our plans next season.
Depends on the results, I think a loss to Everton kills our top 4 hopes, so that would be a good time to get Greenwood, Gomes, Chong and Laird in. Ole really is up shits creak when he inherited the right wing options he did, he's tried everyone there to no effect. I believe 3 top class signings and promoting 2-3 players from the academy would be a good way to do business in the summer.

Still ending a season with more questions than answers. Not being 'knee-jerk' but there's an uneasy feeling that we have been here before. OGS believes that fitness, attitude and desire is enough.....he's missed you still need ability and quality. He's talked about aspiring to be more like Barca, well he is disillusioned if he thinks 70% of the existing squad is going to get us there. Couple of signings will be a drop in the ocean....

Change of culture is exactly what Fergie did to completely transform the club when he came... It's a tough thing to do, takes time and patience, but it is also what this club absolutely needs.

In short, love his approach. Hope that people will give him a fair chance to do it. Focusing primarly on buying and spending money won't get us nowhere.

I very much doubt Ole thinks that is enough. He’ll be buying as much top quality as he can this Summer.
Sounds like he thinks it's enough to me as why mention it? Not signing 6 players, well given the players that are leaving, it means 2 signings don't amount to much....

I hear you but the others aren't standing still whilst we wait? I get it and I believe you are right but when you are playing 'catch up', and the dominence of teams in PL and Europe, we could be talking a decade plus. There is also the ability to attract players whilst keeping your own, not to mention your managers. OGS isn't going to be given that amount of time otherwise he'd have got a 5 year deal and not 3 years...

Everyone knows the club needs a purging of its playing stock, I suspect Ole knew this when he took the temporary post, but he managed to get a reasonable tune out of either old, and young or some highest paid (but not performing) fiddles.

In a way it just delayed the inevitable but in so doing it made the task harder. The last time we had a real clear out was in the early 70's with Tommy Doc, it was hard going and we slipped into the second division in the process, it was a hard hit but we bounced back the year after.

Can't see anyway around it now, we need that purge, but is Ole the man to do it? I'm sure he knows what's wanted but will he survive the chaos that will result or is he just being lined up as the scapegoat, by the Club?

Which therefore means Ole doesn’t think ability and quality matters. Great logical jump right there.
I'd sooner him mention that too cause logically I can't assume he thinks that's important, seeing that he didn't. I can only comment on what someone's says, not like you what you assume he thinks.

Exactly. Fecking doom and gloom on here is disgusting. Ole is trying to rid the club of the dark clouds but it seems a large portion of the caf would rather they stay. Astonishing really.

Yep club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who played alongside the likes of Scholes, Giggs, Keane, Ronaldo etc doesn't think quality matters.

It takes 2 or 3 years probably and it is relatively easy to notice in the first season if he is making progress. For example, like you could see with Klopp that he is making progress and improving the team.

I am one of few though who doesn't want to give 300 million cheque to Ole this summer. First of all, he never operated in this level of market and it is extremely risky thing to do. Buy a few, but buy quality and improve performances on the pitch. Then build on it and spend more if we see he is the right man. But his approuch atm is the right one imo.

Ole: “The players deserve to get the chance to come in for pre-season and show what they’re capable of. Are they fit enough? Are they hungry enough? Do they want this enough? Do they want to give everything to the team? Or do they think only about themselves?” #mufc [Telegraph]

Where? All I'm saying is I'd like him to talk about the need for more quality. He doesn't but gives the kind of rhetoric from any managers handbook. Sorry I'm not exciting by the players deserve a chance comment. How many chances have they had already....?

The players deserve a chance? Gimme a break. Not this shite again. We've needed a squad cull for a number of years and yet it looks like we'll make the same mistakes again. Wait till the end of pre-season and then panic buy.

If it's true we're signing less than 6 players and fail to replace Herrera and Fellaini, we're not challenging for the title again next season.
