Feck this group of players. There is no way in hell this shambles can be fixed in one season. Doesn't matter if we get in 3 players or 5. It's going to take years. We'll struggle to get CL again next year. I only hope we'll be playing more entertaining footy than we have this season. Expecting more is naïve at this point.

One of the richest clubs in the world can't sell 10 and bring in 10 in one summer, because? What exactly?

I am really starting to believe that our spending cycle has come to an end. We can't spend huge money every window now. The glazers must have tightened the purse strings

We have plenty of players we could sell, so I'm not buying it, this clubs lacks balls! As demonstrated by certain new contracts given and offered

Yeah but they are on huge wages. Nobody desperately wants our players. We failed to offload Rojo, Darmian last summer. We won't even make the Lukaku money back even if we clear out this dross.

We don't need to make the money back. Just sell them even if its for a loss and use the funds to improve the squad.
Put it like this Rojo played how many games this season? Feck all really he shouldn't even have been here simple as, same goes for Darmian, yet we're paying their wages anyway...

We had offers for Darmian it was us who refused to sell, even in January because we felt we might need the squad numbers. Pathetic decision and shows lack of balls.
We could have recalled Tuanzabe or promoted an u18/u23

Or because they didn't think they would win the UCL anyway. Same way Liverpool fans also won nothing last season and were perfectly happy with their progress and likely will be disappointed not the win the title this year if they don't but still be happy with their season well because... progress.
Liverpool haven’t won the league since ‘89. They’ll be mortified by not winning this season. Either you don’t really understand sports or your definition of ‘perfectly happy’ insane.

Jovic is going to Madrid.
Pretty sure only yesterday Frankfurt denied that. Point is though Demebele is good enough anyway.

And if we aint going to even try and compete for the best talents when we should just give up

Were a shambles lads. Changed my tune from at least 5 in this summer.

6/7 out and 6 in this summer window. Couple of big fees in this window we should get.

No value in winter window.

5 out and 5 in the following summer.

Throw in few youth/Academy and couple of players returning from loan.

Should be enough to fight for top 6.

It's good that we aren't in the top 4 next season IMO. Surely Woodward will pull his finger out. Surely he'll realize after so much hilariously inept management that we need proper investment by people who know what the feck they are doing. I was half worried we would make it and the purse strings would tighten up with top 4. Also now everyone's wages get cut 25%, those who want to leave can feck off wherever, and hopefully we are ruthless and do a big change while we're at it and cut those who aren't good enough. Ole's saying things like he's ready to be ruthless and it'll be the last time we see some of them... Well hopefully that's the case. There's like 10-15 players in this squad who for one reason or another, really should not be at the club by the end of summer 2020. It's a lot of players so you can't expect it at once, but we have to work on moving them out and replacing them. Maybe now since we will finish 6th we can work on doing that properly and it'll be an eye opener to Woodward and the Glazers that it needs changing.

I totally agree with you with the players you want to sign. But, who would you play as our RB and CDM?

I've often said on here that not having CL isn't the end of the world when it comes to signing quality players, I still stand by that, but the big difference this time for us, as opposed to the last couple of times we've been in this position, we look a huge fecking mess. We had new managers recruited, managers with pedigree and experience, you could believe things were about to swing back our way again, but this time? It feels different.

Not having CL isn't the end of world. But still having the Glazers in charge has been the end of the world for United long ago. I have long lost my trust on them. Even if we bring in both Neymar and Mbappe this summer, I'd still have no trust that we can bounce back under the Glazers.

You're being extremely optimistic there.

How do people feel about taking the Chelski approach for as far as bringing in some players in the twilight of their career but with tons of experience? I. E. Would it make sense to have a Robben sit on the bench for us?

We should bring back Schweinsteiger and Rooney as well.

So let me understand this - are people in here whining that the businessmen Glazers do not spend enough money, despite £600m+ being spent since Fergie left? I'm sure there's a massive list of clubs that have spent more than you in the same timeframe, right?

Man alive, you guys need to stop pretending that you are different from City and Chelsea as a fansbase, admit you want a sugar daddy and be done with it.

While 5-6 signings will be great the practicals reality is 3 would be sufficient for a rebuilding process.

Note that I state process and not overhaul.

One CB, one MF and one RWF should be a good start.

Our problems are many and it does appear the lack of a DOF is an important one. But putting that aside since a DOF seems extremely unlikely so we have gotta work with what we have structurally.

The recent spate of results have made fans hysterical and knee-jerk which is understandable but unlike playing a video game, selling half the team or more and buying replacements is never going to work or rather, with so many variables the probabilities of it working is close to zero.

So many are doubting Ole now but we have seen glimpses of what Ole wants the team to do, based on the first few games. People underestimate the lack of fitness in the team.

Anyway these have been discussed to death in other threads so I will only say that with a good pre-season with us hopefully getting in 3 players early, we should be able to see a clearer footballing philosophy that Ole has. I think we will like what we see. But expectations have to be realistic, if fans expect Ole to jump straight into a title race that would be unreasonable. Back into top 4 next year and a top 3 finish with CL QF the following year; followed by a title challenge in the 3rd should be the progression to expect.

"6 players could leave". Arguably there's never been a period in the club's history when so many first team squad members should be ejected.

The number of signings doesn't bother me too much, I'm more concerned with the quality. We've made loads of poor/average signings over the last 5 years and our behind the scenes setup seems to still be the same, so I'm not very optimistic we'll all of a sudden make amazing signings. Even if we sign five players, chances are three of them will turn out to be rubbish.

I think the initial intent was to do a mass overhaul this summer but that 5 in has quickly become 3 after targets like Bissaka decided he's staying at Palace and Fernandes decided he's going to City.

Did he say that? I thought there was only a strong interest of City to sign Fernandes.

Yeah, strong interest, talks of a deal being done in the coming weeks with City looking to loan them a player in return. I didn't mean 100% done but it looks like we're going to miss out on this one, again...

Doubt it. I reckon city are being used to drive up the price. We’ve been linked for months and been scouting him for months. He’s about the only player I reckon were nailed on to get.

I just can't stand watching this bunch playing football for another year, this is meant to be entertainment, but there's so little pleasure watching the dross we deliver week after week.

I really hope you're right because he looks like the kind of player City would definitely go for. He runs games for Sporting.

All prison sentences handed down from now on should be an enforced season ticket at Old Trafford. They'll be a 0% crime rate by next summer.
