I think Herrera was slightly out of his depth at Manchester United. He was clearly a very good player for La Liga in his hometown club of Bilbao, but nothing he has done so far hints at world class potential.

At PSG he will probably find himself on the bench more often than not. He is good and United should keep him but not if he's asking for Pogba money.
 Plenty of non world class players have been important to Manchester United teams. Out of his depth :lol::lol:

I was happy when we bought Herrera and got he's name printed on my shirt. But after all these years I think it's time we went our separate ways as I think we need better quality. Herrera is a hard grafter and I do love that but he sometimes looks for the easy pass rather then a killer pass which he has in him as when he does find that pass it is very well executed.

If we want to build a solid team then the core is where we should begin and in that case we need to upgrade to Herrera.

Whos gonna sign a new contract with us if we do something underhanded like that? Extremely short sighted.
And it's not like player doesn't have in thing. Once he signed the contract, he can just decline the transfer else where.

Some people here say thing as if it's FM.

Rumours emerging that PSG have struck personal terms with Allan of Napoli.

Perhaps Herrera to PSG has collapsed.

They'd also be signing the best possible replacement for Ander we could have got (but probably the most expensive too)
Indeed!
the caf would lose its mind though as Allan is 28!

Don't mind he leaves, but have a feeling he'll stay.

If we're really offering him something close to 150k, he should take it and stay. He can't get a better offer anywhere else. As a matter of fact, PSG won't give him a wage higher than Verratti.

Anyway, we've got MCTominay and Fred to replace him.

I also have a Herrera shirt. I knew we needed some grit but hoped he'd have a bit more technical ability to move the ball forward. However I'd love to keep him

If anything i'd sell Fred to help offset Herrera's wages. Maybe he'll turn good but i have a feeling we've seen what he is.

It's one thing saying we need better than Herrera and quite another actually getting them

This. He has a great football brain, shows up in big games, and works his arse off.
The worrying thing is we might need a whole new mid, as he's off, the Pogba noise is escalating, and even Matic is getting talked up as shipping out now.

I feel like we do just by Ander leaving. He's made up for Matic and Pogba's shortcomings defensively this season with his extreme workrate. Anyone not doing what he does for us defensively and we'll be exposed

I have always thought that quality teams would have one player doing the Herrera AND Matic roles combined though.

We really need someone who controls the pace of the game, and takes a lot of the ball, alongside a defensive mid.
Pogba would then be free to affect the forward work.

For sure, but that player would be really expensive because only a couple of them are around

You're never going to find someone as adept at winning the ball back as Herrera AND have the level of distribution we require. We need a systematic change with more defensive contribution from the other midfielders to mitigate his absense. Then we can look to bring someone in capable of controlling play in his place, and move forwards as a team.

That's the theory, but when have we followed theory lately?

Ya but then he’s stuck in this hell hole.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time

Matic needs replacing no matter what. It doesn't matter how we want our midfield to function, he isn't suitable. He's not good enough defensively to anchor the midfield with the other midfielders focusing on creating, and he isn't good enough with the ball to be a proper deep-lying playmaker with a workhorse beside him (the latter is how we've been using him next to Herrera).

Very sorry to hear that his wife is leaving him, hope it doesn't overly affect him.
The post says "This Girl". Poor guys is forced to Fedex his gal in a cardboard box as we refuse to increase his barely survivable wages.

As said hundreds of times in this thread, there are hundreds out there of better quality. we'll replace that one too

Goodbye, Good luck and Thanks for your efforts, but no tears from me.
This. Obviously would prefer to keep players with his kind of effort and passion, but not his quality. As good a servant he's been he can definitely be improved upon. I for one will not miss his shooting for example.

Can we just get some fecking clarity from Herrera and Mata...can’t wait to just know what we have and what we need. De Gea needs to sign or be sold also. Pogba shite will no doubt drag on. These issues cannot be what we are faffing about when the window opens.

Good riddance absolutely rubbish, runs around like a headless chicken with zero quality on the ball. Hot and cold form throughout his years here and people give Pogba stick for inconsistency ?

There are numerous midfielders in world football who are more useful in possession and will improve the starting 11. Even Solskjaer said that when we lost the PSG home leg, they were on another level particularly in the midfield that's where the game was lost.
