Imagine getting paid so much every week and only play about 10-15 games a season. Win 3 CL. The greatest money heist in history surely. Amazing what one great season can do for a player.

If there is a chance of getting Gareth Bale, for little transfer fee (and negotiate sensible wages..) then we take him. We wouldn't need to worry about him playing every game, and I wouldn't mind 20 / 25 games out of him when fit. He is a super player, and I would imagine may take to a new challenge.

I don't want him going to a rival. No way.

We are not going to fill our team with players under 25. And, we haven't that many really good players.

Gareth Bale would be great with Rashford, Cheong, Greenwood etc, and (if Pogs stays..) would give us some genuine presence in matches. You think any of the top sides want Gareth Bale playing against their defence? I certainly wouldn't want to see him against our defence...

This

People need to stop worrying about money like its theirs too. Bale has the ability to cover both Lukaku and Sanchez presence and ability whilst giving the likes of Rashford, Martial & Greenwood the ability to play better with them but also play matches without him.

The only thing we need to change is arguably play Bale the way Wales have played him and not the way Madrid play him as a RW.

If a bale loan is possible and we can get rid of sanchez it is a no brainer. No obligation to buy.

Do not want. Outside of Zlatan, these moves for players entering their twilight years have ended badly for us, and not on the cheap.

That I could get behind.

Sod taking him on loan. RVP was added to an already functional team to be the cherry on top which enabled us to win a title. We're winning feck all of note next season anyway so I'd rather give the minutes to a player from our academy or buy a player who is going to be here for the long haul.

Gareth Bale doesn't want to play for us and I don't think his body is up to the style of football we should be looking to play.

Bale should probably retire or do a few seasons back at Spurs before heading off to LA Galaxy.

Had a good career, although I'd say fortunate to land at Real during their massive domination period in Europe. Now he is a bit screwed as no one outside of the retirement homes will take him on. He now has to look at loans or pay as you play type deals.

Best of luck to him but I now don't want to buy him perhaps loan.

Bale was the main man of so many of their finals when others didn't step up as well. Him and Ramos.

Madrid won't appreciate him because they are ultimately spoilt children - but anyone who watched Madrid from and outside perspective could see that Bale stepped up so many times when Madrid needed someone to do so.

If he genuinely doesn't to play for United, of course we don't take him. However, I would not be surprised if he my fancy a crack at Manchester United.

And you want to run a season with Academy players? Well, sorry, i think they would benefit from some new energy and guidance. Look at the dross we have at the moment... Mata, Martial, Sanchez, Lukaku, Lindgard.. these guys have proved themselves to be nothing but a bunch of charlatans, who have dropped the standards and expectations of a Man United forward. I wouldn't mind all of them leaving, honestly. All rubbish, and some with a stink of an attitude, too worried about after-shave etc. Look at how Rashford has (not) developed, and if you look at who he sees in training, and spends time off the field with, then you are hardly surprised. None of those guys offer our club a thing. Nothing. Nothing. And are costing the club zillions. And for what? And I am fed up with people talking about who we should not get to replace them.

Bale would be great for a couple of seasons. What is wrong with that? Juventus bought Ronaldo at 31. We bought Zlatan at 36!!!

If Bale's fitness is so poor, you draw up a contract appropriately. It's hardly something new.

I'm staggered so many would not want the guy. So who we going to rely on? Greenwood, Cheong? These are young players who need experience and quality around them and they need protecting (like Rashford does because we can see what has happened to him...)

Bale is available and hungry, then we negotiate and should take him in my opinion.

1 year loan while getting rid of some older players is a no brainer.
The only question is how much would you pay him a week?

If our rivals are Spurs or Shainghai

If We sign him, I predict something like this will happen:
  • Twitter announcement of him playing Glory Glory ManUnited on an Ukulele
  • Becomes the first choice for every RedCafe lineups during off-season
  • Scores a hattrick in first PL game
  • Scores 2 and assists 2 in the second one
  • Have goal/game ratio > 1.6 and assist/game ratio > 0.6 for the next 8 games
  • People begin to wonder if He's the signing of the season - Bale comes back and comes home. The lost Mancunian kid who somehow was born in Wales
  • Scores another hattrick
  • Bale speaks to the media "Ole brings the best out of me, I swear on me manbun"
  • Bale gets a 'minor injury' & out for 2 weeks as 'precaution'
  • Back on the field and has a pass accuracy of 69%
  • Ole keeps playing him, He becomes very inconsistent, hot and cold ala rooney
  • Gets another injury, out for 4 weeks
  • Back on the field and struggles to control his feet
  • Loses ability to cross
  • Loses his fist touch
  • Season ends
  • Gareth Bale - Juventus and Inter met his agent, reported by Di Marzio

On his day he is class but last thing United need is a injury prone player who is past his best on extortionate wages and has never really showed any love for the club.

We need to sign players who fit into the long term picture.

Only a club desperate enough and daft enough to meet his ridiculous wage demand would be interested.

Like who?

And are we talking about a player who isn't any good? The guy can play... Who amongst our attacking line-up is better than Gareth Bale?

he isn't ideal, and is injury prone. So you build a contract accordingly. There is no need, no need at all for the club to expose itself ridiculously for him, and I am not suggesting that.

But a fit Gareth Bale is good for United. Look at our options... Lindgard/Lukaku/Martial. !!

There’s no way you’re going to get that ideal contract with Bale. He’s gonna feck us over financially. Unless you get him on a pay as you play contract and he’s way too big to ever want to agree to that.

If (big if) we can get a 1 year loan with an option to buy and pay 50% of his salary, I really don't see why we wouldn't want to go after this

The only way Bale goes back to Spurs is if RM pay like 75% of his wages as Spurs definitely cannot afford his 600k a week. Hell Spurs cant even afford half that. And this is my main problem with him, he just isnt worth that amount of money, It would be Sanchez v2.0 if we signed him.

If he was on reasonable wages and the xfer from Madrid was cheap, by all means but that is not the case.

The snowflakes in the dressing room couldn’t handle Sanchez getting paid more than them, replacing him with Bale would just end the same way.

Sorting the dressing room out first should be the priority, let Bale sit on the bench in Spain.

Or maybe he’ll accept a pay cut?

We won’t go anywhere near him and nor will anyone else with the wages he has.

Much like us with Sanchez, they’ve made their bed and now they’ve got to sleep in it. That will likely mean them taking a fairly large financial hit on him.

He will probably sign for someone for £40m-£50m and Real will give a large portion of that money straight back to him as compensation for the difference between his Real wages and what he gets at his new club.

He did score the winning goal in two of these finals. In the other he assisted the goal in a tie that went to penalties. Could have been better but you can't say he stole a living there. His talent served the club well even if his fitness and duration were disappointing.

Bale has stated multiple times he is happy to sit on Madrids' bench, he turns 30 in July and prefers to spend last of his peak years not playing regular football.

Tells you a lot about his mentality, stay the feck away from this guy. He'd be an even bigger disruption than Sanchez, the Bale who lit up the PL is long gone.

Can't wait for this thread to lock

Not what we need now, if he had 95% availability he might be worth a punt, but right now we need to be looking at players who are going to be fit and ready to play.

Cracking player of course but we can't afford costly mistakes

If Zidane tarred and feathered him in the centre circle he'd still want to stay.

These guys deserve it; keep paying him for his entire contract. We should not help Real Madrid by buying the injury-prone Welshman. It has got disaster written all over it. Really hope we don't Bale them out.

I think he'd be willing to do this, within reason, because it can't be very nice being at a club that patently want you to leave and are getting nasty about it. Combine a pay cut with RM being willing to subsidise 50% of his pay-cut wages, and the outline emerges of a deal that even Spurs could afford.

For example, he might agree to accept £400k per week (down from £600k) and RM might agree to pay half that, leaving Spurs (or whoever) to pay the remaining £200k per week.

There's a question of a loan fee of course, but RM might well be willing to waive that since they'll be saving £400k per week in wages, which equals £21m over a year.

All in all, and from a Spurs perspective, IF Pochettino wants him then a deal is possible, because there's no doubt Bale would be happy to play for us again, what with CL football on offer, a return to the Prem, our new stadium and with Pochettino as manager. I wouldn't rule out a Bale return to Spurs IF, as I say, Pochettino wants him.

And even if Bale is past his best, a front three of Bale, Kane and Son would be pretty scary combo for oppo defences.
