Honestly I would probably take him as manager now if it was either him or Ole (nothing against him but he’s just a good person and PLAYER, not manager although i wish otherwise).

So based on that, I would take him as DOF in a bloody heartbeat.

Have a funny feeling we’ll go for him midseason once Ole is shown the door, inevitably.

I think he'd be great in the role. His final few years at Arsenal he was hamstrung by finances.

Would prefer someone who's done it all before though.

If - and only if - there was a structure around him, a new manager, a new team. And a written agreement that Woodhead would keep his beam out of footballing decisions.

Definitely not, I don't want someone who was one of United fiercest rivals to now be our DOF. Hell he might even do a Jose and try and sabotage us on purpose! Mehhh

The Glazers would love him and his cheap approach to building a team. So this is not beyond the realms of possibility actually.

Arsene Wenger becoming Manchester United DOF doesn't even happen in any parallel universe. We've entered the insane thread season.

I blame Brexit for this insanity, what next, Alex Ferguson for the Pope?

He would be an excellent head of FIFA and/or UEFA.

He is an excellent student of the game, but for more tactical decisions he would need to make in the DoF position, I'm not sure of his capabilities there.

Arsene Wenger at Arsenal before David Dean retired and Arsene at Arsenal after his retirement were two different people. I really do not know how good he would be a Manager with Woodward as his boss. If it was someone like Martin Edwards or Gill then a different story. As a DOF I also feel that he would be fantastic. His team mostly played very good football. It is that he does not know how to chose defenders.

Yeah, I can see him heading up something like UEFA's technical committee.

This is an interesting proposal. The only thing that concerns me as that the game is evolving and it seemed to catch him out at Arsenal.

This! What he did With Arsenal in the last 4-5 years is scary. Suddenly all the talents were gone - and they were left With a bunch of players in their late 20s and early 30s

Could you have seen Fergie take up a similar role at Arsenal given all the duelling that went on ? Football never ceases to amaze but this would be right up there.

I agree it would be an incredible turn of events. However, I do think Wenger would seriously consider it, if United were to approach him. Keep in mind the rumours at the time were that Arsenal told Wenger he would be leaving the club, but Wenger felt that he wanted to carry on.

I’m not saying he would be an ideal candidate, but I think he’s certainly more qualified than Rio, Fletcher or Phelan to do the job and the handling of his exit from Arsenal might be a factor in any decision.

As far as I’m concerned, it’s 100% not happening - just an interesting thought!

He was my first choice as Caretaker Manager after Mourinho was sacked. DOF? Why not?

The so-called specialist in failure, hopefully not. Would instantly become an absolute laughing stock for oppo fans, though.

Wenger spent so much time and lots of money on the likes of Walcott and failed miserably for years. The last young player who lived up to his potential under his guidance was Fabregas, IMO.

Still Wenger at United could be a good fit, he's a master in lowering the standards even further.
