The amount of coverage and nonsense on this player is ridiculous. Yeah he is a good player but don't you think people are over hyping him?

I think our mr Blind will have 'filled in'
DE ligt about the dis-organisation at mu and I cant see any reason for him coming, why stall his career for an uneccessary few years. As usual MU are being used to get a player more money from their preferred team.
I really do hope Im wrong because he could be part of the catalyst to get mu going again, that and getting rid of half the team and giving the likes of tfm and tuanzebe a good run.

He will be one of, if not THE best defender in the world for the next 10 years. He's a once in a generation player. Whoever gets him, won't be paying enough.
How come you're so certain about this? Like I said he looks a very good talent but you never know how he would take to the prem. I hope you're right btw.

In his own video he says "First we have two games (meaning Netherlands) and after that I see what happens next"

The video is a good enough proof that he's signing for us.
Since we're at that stage where we become body language experts, so here it goes
1. He speaks in English- if he wanted to go to Spain, he'd have spoken Spanish (or Dutch if he doesn't know Spanish yet)
2. He says PL is a great competition, Spain as well. However the Spain part seemed a bit forced, as if he just was putting in their name to tease us.
3. And then there's this interview: https://www.ajaxshowtime.com/articl...1/de-ligt-geduldig-ik-laat-mij-niet-gek-maken
Which tilts it in our favour

Did any else pick up on that?

When he said the "Premier League" first. Why would he do that. If he was going Barca he would have said La Liga first.

He's ours!

It's not just how good a defender he is, it's the way he carries himself, his attitude, awareness, maturity, confidence, all of that, at such a young age, added to his obvious ability. He is miles ahead of players in the same age group in both talent and mentality.

I obviously can't be sure but my gut feeling is he could be one of the greats.

Unless something changes drastically at the club, he'd more likely develop the infamous 'attitude problems, be in it only for the money' and the concensus would be that he is not as good as he thinks he is in no time if he joins us. I would be very suprised if many aren't clamouring for him to be sold in a few years.

I really do hope so because the football world is short of these types of players. I just hope he doesn't fall into the modern player attitude. More about money and fame.

Come July and De Ligt decides to go to Barca and Ed Woodwards running around trying to buy a centre back before the window closes. He will probably waste most of this window chasing targets that were never going to come and just use United to get a better deal. We'll end up with Gary Cahill and Danny Welbeck on free transfers.

I'm better than Messi (even though I'm not)

This will play a big part in his decision, as it does with the vast majority of players. These guys are not sentimental fans, they’re professionals looking to get the best deal for themselves. Saying that, he’s does seem mature and to have the right attitude which is a positive

De Ligt. Clever boy. Hid the truth in plain sight during the interview.

From what I've seen of him in interviews and his celebrations I get the impression he would relish playing in the premier league. I do think we will sign him and if we do then I will be certain he will become a fan favourite.

Would be more confident if we had a proven, top class coach at the helm, like Poch for example. At 19 years of age he still needs the best coaching available. Nothing against Ole, but it would be an important consideration if I was him.

Well he would not be getting that at Barca.

I just feel if he already chose Barca this whole thing would’ve been wrapped up by now. I really do think he’s in two minds and it’s a toss up between us and Barca
Personally I think it’s Barcelona asking him to wait until they’ve negotiated a couple of sales.

I think Barca would be his preference but going by his own comments, it sounds to me like he's given Raiola a list of clubs he'd play for and would be happy enough to take the best deal at any of them. I reckon Barca, United, Juve and Bayern. In that order.
I think this is exactly how it works:

1- Preferred club on most money
2- Preferred club on near the most money
3- Acceptable club on most money

This process is obviously ongoing until the last minute and the player actually signs for a club.

Ultimately he weighs up the deal and decides what he wants to do.
