Saw that Rashford and Lingard had both posted this on their Instagram accounts.

Apparently that's the success rate of young players that make it in the Premier League.

Seems that they're getting a bit of stick online as elitist / arrogant.

From a social media perspective, is Lingard serving as a bad influence / off the pitch distraction to Rashford?
 
Did they say when they plan to become part of it?

Most definitely, Rashford takes the game seriously and you can tell he wants to improve and get better. Lingard not so much, he takes everything for a joke.

How can you tell that from the pitch? Lingard works as hard as Rashford

If by 'make it' they mean 'make it as a professional footballer in the UK at any level' - given how many young people play football, the percentage is far, far, far smaller than they state.

They think they have made it into the elite. You cant make up this stuff. How fans still lick up to lingard is beyond me. He epitomises Manchester United at the moment which is sub standard and idiotic.
 
In their heads they've already made it which is probably the reason both their careers are heading off a cliff at this moment in time.
 
Wonder how Sir Alex would have dealt with that muppet Lingard. Besides offloading him that is.

The only ones to blame are the media representatives at the club. They are the ones pushing them as the face of the club and all.
If they think Rashford can't handle the media circus, they should shield him from the limelight.
 
The percentage appears to be a reference to a statistic put forward by the author Michael Calvin in an interview with Business Insider in 2017, as he said just 0.012 per cent of players who play organised youth football will make it into the Premier League.

They are both lads who give their all for the club, get involved with local charities and have been involved with some amazing memories who get a load of shit off “fans” online.

Jesse and Marcus both work hard and the way some of you talk about them is ridiculous.

Are they implying that we as fans should be buzzing with them for just 'making it' as Premier League players in the first place even if they're contributing to our team being the worst its been in decades?

Are they preparing to set up an organisation which will help to educate and re-integrate 'failed' prospects into society if they can't make a living out of football?

Did they just think it'd be a cool, ambiguous message you put on Instagram after getting giddy with each other?

Having seen the state of the pair of them at the charity game last weekend, it looks likely that Lingard actually dresses Rashford too. Marcus needs some new role models.
 
That's Rashford conversion from Free Kicks.

Lindgard is simply a complete tw*t. People have seen through it.

I am sure they will both perform well in the 'International Friendlies' Cup of Nations or whatever it is. That platform is perfect for them. Overhyped, no one really takes it seriously, and you play second-string teams. Expect Lindgard to score a well-taken goal.

Yep. Maybe they're not good enough, so criticizing them for their play is fine, but the level it's gone to where their attire at a charity match necessitates verbal abuse from our fans has become ridiculous.

You’re criticising United players for how they dress while giving up their time to represent United at a charity event. They could wear sarongs for all I care, they’re just trying to help out.

I have been saying for ages now that Lingard is a bad influence on Rashford.

Lingard is symbolic of everything thats wrong with this football clubs culture, he simply doesn't have the professionalism and conduct for a top club.

I agree with that. I do think though that when you try to create a brand around yourself, you kind of have to earn that privilege in order not to be ridiculed and Jesse certainly hasn't. Unpopular opinion maybe, but that's my view.

As if every one of those playing organised youth football have the chance of making it or even want to...

It might be more reasonable to not include those who quit playing because they don't like football/only play because their mates are playing/want to pursue other things in life/are forced to play by their parents etc etc etc.

i was at the game in the stretford end and they got jeered at half time when they came out the tunnel.

Giving up their time to represent Utd? Don't they get paid 6 figure weekly wages to represent Utd? Are we meant to be grateful that they turned up dressed like a pair of clowns?
