Lukaku - transfer speculation | Gone

He’ll rip it up for Inter.

He would do better here if only we created more chances. Lukaku is best as an 'in the box poacher'. But I still want him gone.!

The type of football I hope UTD play next season under Ole will be more fast and fluid, with a interchangeable front 2/3. Rom doesn't fit this style at all with his clumsiness and inability to control the ball. Put him in the slower Italian league and his movement in the box and his quality in the air, he'll bag loads of goals for Inter.

Good luck to him and all that but goodbye Rom. It's best for everybody as long we get good money for him. Inter are renound for moaning about fees. They want to pay peanuts but want stupid money for their dross.

I’m happy with this transfer but only if we have a replacement ready to come. Yeah ok, he’s got two feet like 50pence pieces when the ball comes to him but he does score now and again. United would be stupid to let a striker go and go into the new season without a top class one.

Was never suited to United or a top club. Says a lot that Inter is the best team that went after him. He'll do well in the Serie A tbh, it's a slower pace, I'm sure he's more suited to Inter and there's less pressure there. All things that work out in his favor. We need to bring in an experienced attacker though for sure, or at least someone capable of starting and scoring from the right. Lukaku has been very average but he does get his share of goals, so that needs to be replaced by the new player coming in along with all the existing players really improving their own output.

think we need a thread title update to reflect he's basically made a comment that suggests a transfer request has been made.

Serie A will suit him down to the ground, in bursts he’s fantastic but can’t keep up that intensity throughout a game which won’t be a problem in Italy. Assuming we can’t find a taker for Sanchez I wonder if he will be back up as CF next year,

There is no way back for him after those comments. How can he say all that then in the same breath he respects the club :wenger:

Not the brightest spark. Would've been better for us with more creative talent around him but same can be said about any striker. Another Jose failure.

He says he's made his decision. Players say that all the time without it meaning they have handed in a formal transfer request (thereby forgoing millions of pounds in loyalty bonuses).

He is doing his best to make his position at United untenable, but I'd be surprised if he has formally handed in a request.

This is the only worrying thing about this transfer. If Lukaku goes, does that mean Sanchez stays?! Hopefully not.

It's obvious what will happen here too - we will haggle all summer and fail - will then be forced to take Icardi in a swap deal.

People say that he will be a big success in Serie A but he is in my opinion very similar to Belotti who at the exception of one season hasn't been that dominant, coincidentally the same season Lukaku shone with Everton.

I hope he does well at Milan. He's wasted two years of his club career with us.

He did score 27 goals for us in his first season. Far from bad numbers.

Will be harder to replace than we think. Rashford leading the line is far from promising.

7 in his first 7 for us, then just 9 more league goals from mid-October onwards, with his stats fleshed out in the CL and FA Cup against the likes of CSKA and Huddersfield.

He's our most reliable goalscorer and must be replaced with quality. I will not exactly be heartbroken to see the back of him, however.
Same feelings. I am not his biggest fan but he is a goal scorer and I will also say that he has been wrongly targeted by most of our fans. If we sell Lukaku and don't buy a quality striker then we are in trouble.

But goals are goals right. Also, it's not like our other so called attackers have covered themselves in glory. Again I am not saying Lukaku is a worldclass striker who should be kept. I am all for selling him but what is the point of selling him and not buying a quality replacement.

Reporter: "So, what makes Conte the best in the world, Lukaku?"
Lukaku: "He wants Lukaku y'know. I mean anybody that wants Big Rom' has to be the best in the world, y' get me?"

Deluded, fat, and shite. Let's not make excuses for this horrible horrible clown of a footballer. He has been any embarrassment to the club for a while. He fall over the feckin ball the dunce.

I didn't say that his numbers were bad and he scored 16 in the league which isn't great. The other goals are against bad teams in cups which is a constant with Lukaku and players of his caliber, they are good enough to score regularly but not good enough to be dominant players, the Mario Gomez caliber.

Window has not ended.

Can’t wait to see the back of the fella. Decent against dross but an absolute wet wipe of a man when it comes to physical strength.

Don’t let the barn door (that you always miss) hit you on the way out.

Well hopefully we’ll bring someone in who can make a similar contribution in terms of number of goals, or at least someone who can more reliably contribute goals over the entire course of the season and at times against higher profile teams. And at the same time make a more valuable contribution to the team as a whole. It may also afford greater opportunities for Greenwood so we can see if he’s capable of making it.

I agree that, given the absolute state of our recent recruitment, there are no guarantees we will do this, and that we probably have higher priorities in other areas, so I would accept him staying on, reluctantly. However it seems clear he wants to go, so I’m not gonna worry about him or his goals.

For his own sake and for our club's sake he should leave. But I don't blame Woody holding out for 70m. Anything less than 60m is a joke.

Can't wait to see the back of him. A 'come and get me' plea away from a United player that actually makes me happy.

Perhaps he should've angled for a move more when at Everton so we pay realistic fee of 50m. This is the problem paying £75 million plus add-ons.

Ultimately it's the clubs fault. Until we change we'll keep on writing off tens of millions which add up to hundreds. This is the club who signed Di Maria when everyone knew he wanted PSG but they couldn't pay up and got him off us cheaper.

If they pay up he can feck off, otherwise he can stay another year. It's a Euro year so he will have to perform either way, even if he's not professional enough to, but I don't believe he isn't. Considering this is Inter we shouldn't budge for anything below 80m€.

Would love if that happens but I seriously doubt we would sign him.
Mobile, nimble, dynamic. It's everything we're looking for in forwards under Solskjær. I wouldn't be surprised if he's one we're looking at but I'm also convinced that Sancho is just posturing for a bigger contract before agreeing to join us late in the window.

Huge mistake - we need goals and we are selling our best finisher and goal scorer.

100% agree with that mate.

As long as they pay up, he can go. This is what he did with Everton before he signed for us. Almost the exact same quotes. I say good riddance.

Hardly. If you consider majority of his goals were tap ins?

For the price we paid for him we should be expecting a more fluid and adaptable finisher. He needs to go, the guy is a donkey

Like Khabib says... ALHAMDULILLĀH!

Don't let the door hit you on the way out, donkey.

I think Felix is dependant on Lukaku leaving.
I'd put a large amount of money we wouldn't replace lukaku, with a 19 year old, with half a season in the top flight of professional football.
