Probably before the halfway line, so the ball travelled most of the midfield? I guess something along those lines
Oh dear, :D. But actually (I'm sure you're right, thanks). Once you know this, you do know exactly where they mean.

When did that happen?
He started few games on mc/dmc( maybe dmc is too strong word) under Fergie in his last season. Pass for RVP vs Villa. Didn't he played midfielder that game?
And for full back. I can't remember the game but we had red card so he was moved on left wing back.

Fantastic goal, one of my all-time favourite United players.

Thought his team mate congratulating him was called "Brilliant" for a minute there, brought back memories of the Rooney puppet on Special 1 TV as I remember him often saying "That's brilliant, la".

Only tried it because he couldn’t be arsed to run...

Seriously though, terrific goal. So pleased he can still produce moments of magic. Great player for us for a long time.

Great goal

Brilliant move for him going to the US, he’s done at the top level but he can still put on amazing displays in that league.

 great goal. Must be class playing there. There seems to be plenty of crackers up for grabs for those who are good enough to take em.

Good to see that, now the anger has subsided, he's getting the recognition he deserves. Phenomenal player for us.

Why do I feel he's scored more of those for us (not from the halfway line, just in general)?

The only one from the halfway line I can remember is the one he scored for Everton.
You must be able to remember the West Ham one? Massive looper, on the half volley. All the more shocking/memorable because he was in a run of diabolical form at the time.

He was never going to go there and coast. Its not in his nature. He was too past it for us but never looked as disinterested as some of the guys we pay a fortune today

Given the way the club has gone backwards since he left it's hard to look at Jose's 'great way' of managing him out of the club as a good thing anymore

I guess he was never going to want to stay in the role he had during his last season at the club but having him in the dressing room would certainly help keep the likes of Pogba and Lingard in check

Let the revisionism recommence!
Jose was right to phase him out, he wasn't good enough anymore and was on a massive contract.

Editing my own posts.
Yeah, it's 3 it seems, that's how the papers are reporting it so I must have misremembered.
Still one more than Beckham and Alonso. They’re all very different efforts too. Though I strangely like his Everton one the most, even though it’s the one where the keepers the most AWOL... he just strikes it so cleanly

Happy for him. The club seriously misses players of his desire and intensity. It is sad the number of weak willed babies we pay these days :(

His ability to hit that ball that powerful and accurately within seconds of seeing the keeper off his line is simply incredible.

The way he strikes a long ball or makes a diagonal pass reminds me of Scholes.

The best thing about the Everton goal, if I remember correctly, was the last man defender trying to save it with his hand but missing by inches. You can see it on the last replay on this.

What a wonderful goal.

It’s easy to forget just how immense Rooney was for us once upon a time.

Truly, a generational player.

One of my favourite United players ever. He was so unselfish with the way he's used in the team and some of the "fans" still tried to get back at him because he "asked to leave" and twice! The same people who worshipped Ronaldo for years (and still to this day) even if he said he was a slave because we don't want to sell him. And that was when we were the best team in the world having won the PL & CL double.

Rooney wanted to leave (in Oct 2010) because he saw the decreasing ambitions of the club after the Summer 2009. Can't blame him for that. Still, don't remember anything from anyone about his bad impact on team or him making a fuss in the dressing room. Also, the only time we used him as a number 9 was 2009-10 season which was his best in his career. It's a shame imo. He should've played more as a 9. Still ending up the United's & England's all time top scorer just goes to show what a great goalscorer he was. And quite a lot of them were the spectacular ones. Miss his desire and fired up displays he showed in his earlier career.

This. He always gave more than his 100% when on pitch. Can't ever think of a time when we deemed him as lazy or criticized his workrate. Used all over the place by Fergie too and never complained about playing out of position iirc.
Compare that with the attitude of our current star players and also the amount of excuses fans give for their consistently poor, disinterested performances.

Wazza at his peak would cost £200 million in today's market. An absolutely unique player. The quality he possessed, added to his ferocious nature was a sight to behold.

There was a famous moment in a game against Hull City (we were winning 4-3), during his "skinhead" days, where he was seriously pissed off for some reason and there was a drop-ball situation. Rooney kind of lost it but then went on in a crunching tackle at two players that were around the ball and absolutely destroyed them. I laugh so hard every time I watch it, those were the days man...

The saddest part of this is, an 18 year old Wayne Rooney wouldn’t touch us with a bargepole currently.

Legend.
