Didn't Griezmann reject a move to yourselves a few years ago in order to protect his reputation at Atletico?

"Preparing a bid"
"Joining the race"

fecking pathetic they get away with the same old nonsensical cliches year after year and all the saps who still lap it up as if these are meaningful phrases.

I'm preparing a wank.

Athletico hanging Barca and Griezmann out to dry, good to see. Imagine asking to pay a release clause in installments, many on here would ridicule Woodward if it came out he tried the same thing and rightly so.

Problem with that would be in a years time when that fat twat Raiola would engineer a move away for Insigne.

O god, didnt realise he was another Riola client, idea retracted, retract, retract! :)

I swear Inter are actually playing Master League on PES with regards to their transfers. They’re utterly deluding themselves by all these ludicrous player swaps.

I think it’s a good idea. Hope the market does moved towards more swaps. MLB doesn’t do player purchases from another team it’s only trades. Free agents are the ones that go for big money

I imagine Ed cross legged on the floor of our boardroom, surrounded by a mountain of loose stationary, elaborately decorating the sacred piece of A4 with all manner of glitter, gel pens, stickers etc, to really wow the selling club on receipt of our completed offer.

@Ban

If we pay over 20m for this guy then I'm seriously done. Hopefully this ridiculous suggestion is bullshit but with us anyyhing is possible. Hopefully we just go after someone else.

Surely we would have found out his price before now to see if it’s a realistic target. This should of been done before Perez deal too. It’s pure incompetence.

I wonder whether we have entered a bidding war with Liverpool, City, Barcelona and Juventus for Longstaff.
I wonder the last time Juventus and Barcelona signed young uncapped British talent.

I wonder what was your reaction when we paid £19m for Dalot and he only had 8 first team appearances for Porto

Foreign name though. Our 'fans' are okay with those deals. That's where we are now with modern day football fans.

Im starting to get vibes of last summers transfer struggles. Hope I am wrong

Both free and not for first team yeah?

Ta.

If you find that to be false equivalency then I find your point to be spurious by the same token. The economics just don't work for foreign clubs to compete for British players in the fee paying transfer market. Juve just signed Ramsey on a free and the two players highlight that when the economics are right, those clubs would be in for British players.

If Ole is basing his judgement of Longstaff on 9 games then we are truly hopeless when it comes to scouting players.

It should be £15m plus appearance related bonus of £5-8m. Whilst it's obvious that most 5 year olds are better at negotiating than Woodward, if he allows to be taken for a ride by Newcastle for anything more we might as well give up!

We paid £20m for a RB who played less than 10 first team games. We paid £18m for a Championship player that Leeds nearly signed for £10m just 5 months ago. I wouldn’t put it past this club to sign Longstaff for £40m whilst Tielemans goes to Leicester for the exact same money. We are the worst negotiators in football.

What's all this got to do with Longstaff then? Which is what we were talking about.

They sign young talent for free. Like every other club.

This is argument is so funny to me its BS and is used nearly every day. It's literally the opposite where people will clamour for ANY British player who strings 2 decent games together.

If Longstaff was playing in the Dutch league and was available for £10m then perhaps they would be in for him. You're sneering that because they're not in for him it somehow means that he isn't any good. The fact is that foreign clubs won't compete for British players with their inflated fees due to the economics of the Premier League.
