I’d say a 7. But again as a caveat I’ll say my knowledge of the player is limited. He seems to be a player that wants to force the issue and has complete confidence in his own abilities. He’ll take the occasional shot that’ll go sailing over the bar when there are better options available, bringing a collective groan from the fans, but he’s certainly no Jonjo Shelvey.
He is as selfish as Rashford from what I've seen. He'll take several long range shots per game.

I haven't followed him enough in Portugal but in Italy he was quite hardworking. Actually that was his biggest issue as they kept moving him deeper in midfielder (mezzala) or on the left flank when in reality he's best as no 10.

Atleast he knows how to shoot.Rashford will even struggle to score goals against league one side.
He only started scoring goals 2 years ago whilst playing in the Portuguese league when he was the age Rashford is now. Before that in Italy, a better league, he didn't score more than 5 in his best season.

Two things you could take from that in Rashford's favour:

1. He was a better player than Fernandes at the same age.
2. Players (Fernandes) can get better as they get older (Rashford probably will too!)

He doesn't look great in that video. Lots of low percentage turns and unnecessary touches. In the Premier League, he'd be knocked off balance every single time he tried it. Reminds me of Kagawa pre-United in that sense.

I hope he has more strings to his bow than just that. Constant Cruyff turns will only get you so far.

Ok Simon says we're in for him so I'm now on the train. What do we think Pogba replacement or are we hoping to do a City and play with two attacking players in midfield?

You say that but he's doing it against Barcelona.

Not a fan of his dribbling. Just want someone who can move like Isco or Modric for once.

"A hard-working No.10 forced into central midfield who takes a lot of speculative shots" sounds like Ander Herrera.

He's scored/assisted 86 goals in the last two seasons. About the same as Herrera's managed in his entire professional career.

everclear is a cool band. yeah they still exist.
Yeah, and Fred looked really amazing in the Russian league, I'm sure. Now he sits on our bench.
First, Fred never played in Russia. He played in Ukraine. And as much as Putin seems to hate it: It's still a different country.

Second, Fred hardly looked "really amazing". He was a solid player there. Nothing more.

Third, Fred rarely sits on our bench. He usually doesn't even do that.

I Simon says we're in for him I'd believe it. I think he'll be a great signing. Creative and with a huge engine. He has the passing range to find our quick attackers. If we can get a another more defensive minded midfielder like Longstaff with him I'd actually start to feel pretty optimistic for next season.

Bruno Fernandes moved in Italy at age 17. He was utilised at Novara as a regista (he wasn't really comfortable in that role) or as a mezzala. It was at Udinese were he first played in a no 10 role. He wasn't exactly Pele there but he did enough to persuade Sampdoria to buy him up. At Sampdoria he found himself being crushed by Schick who was preferred as no 10 (much more physical at 6ft3) and Praet who was better defensively. The fans loved him though and was shocked to see him go but Samp isn't exactly Manchester City and any half decent offer for one of their players would probably be accepted.

At first value one might think that Bruno Fernandes had failed in Italy. However I beg to differ on that. Bruno found himself playing for small clubs who tend to survive in the Serie A by scrapping more points then other small sides. The no 10 role is already considered as a luxury role let alone someone whose relatively small as Bruno is. Thus while still developing the workrate he needed to survive in such circumstances, Bruno is certainly not the kind of player you want to restrict in a defensive role. He's better off in a free role just behind the striker. That's were he excel and that's were we should play him.

Thanks for that.
Do we need such a player
We have Mata, Lingard and upcoming Angel who all play that position. would you say he so much better than these?

Bruno deal has been dragged along because we're waiting on Pogba's deal to be sorted out. That's also one of the reasons why we lost out on Ndombele which also gave Spurs a free run at him. Pogba's deal will be dragged the entire summer with him ending at Madrid and we'll once again do absolutely nothing. God, I really hope we do something to remedy the situation (if it means forcing the Glazers to sell the club or even them giving Ed the boot due to his incompetence in the market and also appointing managers)

He gives me Kagawa/Mikhitaryan vibes.:nervous:
My concern as well. Mikhi was great when he had plenty of space moving forward on counters; but we need someone who can also work in tight spaces and be composed against high pressing teams or play one touch football in the final third against defensive minded teams. I haven't watched Bruno at all, so not saying he isn't that guy, but hoping that he is.

I think he's way better then Mata or Lingard. I mean the former is a has been while the latter is squad player at best. Having said that, if we're planning to move him in a deeper role then there are better options around.

Who the hell is Simon? You lot are such clowns.
He's the one who broke Daniel James and AWB's signings, and even posted the exact time that the club will announce the signings on social media platforms. Pretty reliable this transfer window.

Well he scored 30 and had 18 assists in the league last season so I would say yes, we do need him.

I am a bit lukewarm on him, think Teleimens was a safer better bet, but hes gone now...gotta start putting my eggs in the Bruno basket
