People will complain about everything. This is how a United manager should speak in pre season, and most of the time really. Create positivity, lighten the mood, stand firm on your beliefs, and not have a media circus about every little presser, every topic, every player around the squad. It's a massive area that Mourinho failed miserably in here. You simply can't be manager of the club and create wars with everyone associated with it and shit on the fans.

Bollocking about fluently.
If those players are so fragile that they cant work well under criticism, then they should never be in here in this gigantic club like Manchester united in the first place, they should take a look how other big teams fans set the standards. Those players in other teams like Madrid, Barcelona etc would have got much more shit than what they are getting in united.
Yeah disgruntled spazkids spewing out poison is a common phenomena but it's definitely gotten worse among our fans lately. Also - even though it's usual and something you'd expect a player getting used to - it's never a positive when so-called supporters act like that and I can guarantee you nobody's entirely above it. The pressure put on these lads is immense even on a good day - on a bad one it could break you no matter how professional you might be and we've seen that plenty times over and over and over again throughout all of footballing history and even among the greatest there ever was so...

One thing is setting the unrealistic standard that "anyone not able to cope doesn't belong here" then basing one's entire approach on that fantasy - coping with reality however and adapting to it is something completely different and - dare I say - way less moronic.

Whining and barking? No argument there. What, rules against discussion? I can’t decide whether you’re a WUM or just a oppo fan, or both.
Still you're out of topic again. Doe the rules apply to Ivaldo?

Good presser. Ole seems to know how to draw the line between what should be said publicly and privately. Wish our fans could make the distinction too. This was all mostly a message to other clubs and to the agents, simply setting up a negotiating position. As it stands there are no bids for our players, thus putting paid to all media and agent games, and saying stop talking and start bidding. And trying his best to talk up the price of Pogba and Lukaku rather than damage their potential sale value. Just because he publicly says that doesn't mean privately he doesn't want rid or would be happy to let them go. But when there are no bids received, he also has to prepare for the possibility that this squad might all stay, and then it's his job to get the most out of them and boost their morale. Applying the whip at the end of the season to try and spur them on is only good at that time, and even then as a last resort, but its stupid to use it in pre-season when you are trying to build up team spirit and morale. But by upping Greenwood and emphasising each forward getting 10 goals and asking for them to get 20 he is implicitly challenging all of them to up their game or lose out to Greenwood.

He can't be ruthless by waving a magic wand to produce buyers out of nowhere. To sell a player you need a buyer, and that buyer needs enough money to be able to make a satisfactory bid. That's where we are stuck, as the transfer market is itself stuck with many clubs also waiting on other clubs to buy their players first (i.e. Inter Milan and Real Madrid and Barcelona and Juventus). Its because of this that transfers mostly take place at the end of the window, but also why having the UK window different to the European one is a massive stupid own goal. All Ole can do is try to jivvy opposing clubs to make actual bids and stop trying to just use the media to test the water, while upping the value of the players he wants to sell yet being stern about not overpaying for players we want to buy. As such, it was a great press conference.

Seems to match up with his reputation as a Glazers yes man who will accept mediocre transfer windows which cement out position well outside of the top 3. Also sounds like Dan James is actually intended to be a first teaser with that "chip in" comment, he got 4 goals in the championship last season playing with far more space in behind the opposition then he'll get at United so I wouldn't expect too many from him.
That "reputation" must come from all the transfer windows he has been through already, and he was happy with getting nothing.

Not sure what you can or can't say anymore but I'm now looking forward to the moan-free positive forum from August. If you are going to moan, just don't do it loudly....

Can only assume they're protecting assets. If we did the same thing with all of our deadwood we'd probably be letting 60/70million go for nothing. So they sign up the players on new deals hoping to get transfer bids in allowing them to flog them off. Which is bad practise ultimately. Rojo is on 80k a week, so in a season he gets 4.1million. Since he signed the new deal he's played 211 minutes in the Premier League so every minute he's played has cost us £19,716.

But if we managed to flog him for 15m we'd still be in pocket. What it might tell us is that we're trying to penny pinch right now rather than not caring too much in the past and flogging off deadwood for whatever bid came in. Now we're trying to maximise the valuation of the players.

About 2 months ago he said some players will never play for us. Only Herrera has left so far. Now he says he's happy with the team. Go figure.

You're exactly the type I was talking about.
yes, of course :) Real fans were booing Ronaldo when he was winning them CL's and titles and the team fell off a cliff due to those fans and now struggle to make CL qualification. Oh wait, that didn't happen.

If those bad fans didn't put pressure on Glazers on Moyes he would have been just finishing his contract now, would you have been happy with that? Excuse me for those fans with standards.

For the record I've backed up both LvG and Jose initially and up to the point they didn't become destructive for the club.

So is WUMing, yet here you are.
I posted a post which was linked to the topic and you went off the tangent by criticising me instead. If rules apply to everyone in the same way then you'll be at least warned to stay on topic.

The feck you talking about, i made a comment in relation to his comments in press conference, you know topic of this thread.

What you doing is spouting some drivel against other poster and his mindset in his real life, which has nothing to do with Ole press conference.

Besides even if my post was out of topic and someone pointed that out, i wouldnt continue to derail it, clearly looking in posts after my reply, you just dont give a shit.

As in the ones who complain constantly and shit on everything will be the "loudest" fans and of course, those aren't exactly the best fans... pretty easy to understand that.

Discussed that already previous page.
Are you okay with the manager, who is 6 months into the job coming out and calling out the fans, who on the ground have supported him so far, despite one of the worst form I've seen from United to finish the season?

If Jose came out and said that in his first presser he'd be mauled around here. Double standard and all...

To be fair to Ole,alot of deals speed up in the last week of the transfer window. Usually down to desperation, granted.
Still expect 2 incomings at the least.

I really cannot see Maguire coming in after talking about not overpaying for players. I know he probably said in the hope it won't make us look desperate to clubs. Feel we are now in an era where you have to put up or shut up.

You mean like you are now? Whoops.

Your post had feck all to do with thread. You posted about putting a sock in your mouth and bending over in order to be a top fan. Remind me, at what point did Ole mention that in his presser? It’s just another baseless whine that’s endemic in the football forum.

I think its a dumb comment to make, an understandable comment as I look around this forum for the past 36 months and there are a bunch of bellends who seem to love the drama and continue to moan and complain about everything and anything. But that's part of modern football, every club has these morons.

As for Jose, people need to let go. He was an utter bellend. Those that still love him need their heads checking.

It’s a nice break from the walls of shitposting about how terrible everything related to the club is. Your new tag line seems a perfect summation of your general contribution. Your continuing replies are derailing the thread too. So if it bothers you so much, stop responding.

Yeah, about that. He backed on that and willing to give the deadwood a new chance, Jones, Smalling, Young, etc. I mean dont get me wrong I am happy we have Ole instead the toxic one, but Ole better get the job done.
Of course. And if he starts the season with those 3 names in the team then it'll be hugely disappointing. After that shower last season you just want to see a young, hungry side now moving in the right direction.

The bit about loud fans was a bit silly. Who is he to judge people who spend money to support this club? If he can do his job properly, there aren't going to be loud fans. I dunno why our fanbase is under attack, they are NOT the reason for our downfall. If anything we haven't been loud enough in the past 6 years.

Seen a lot of people saying Ole isn't Ruthless enough, and I guess its because Young and Jones were given new contracts rather than be sold, but I think when one looks at the overall picture, he is being ruthless.

Rojo and Darmian are transfer listed, which is all Ole can do, it's up to Woodward and Judge to find buyers and not price them out of the market. Valencia, club Captain, was released. However bad Jones and Young are, Rojo and Darmian do need to be sold before them. Young and Smalling are also being demoted to squad players, with AWB and Maguire replacing them. Changing half a back line in one window is already a lot of change. When looking at the overall churn and how difficult it is to get quality defenders, this is a good and ruthless upgrade already of the defence.

Fellaini was immediately sold, Herrera was offered a paycut ie. demoted, Pogba is most likely being allowed to leave and for all the public comments of Ole I do wonder what might have been said behind closed doors to make Pogba want to leave, but regardless, seems we will entertain genuine offers. Yes, perhaps we could have not renewed Mata, but with 3 out already it is hard to have enough midfielders in the squad as it is, and Mata has been an exemplary professional compared to our other midfielders. There has been frequent reports that we would let Matic go too, indicating he might be transfer listed and potentially demoted. We might be seeing Bruno, James, Savic, Longstaff coming in meaning our entire midfield 3 would have been axed, Savic Longstaff Bruno instead of Pogba Matic Herrera. Can't be more ruthless than that. Whether this will prove to be better, and whether we manage to get the replacements over the line remains to be seen and again depends on Woodward and Judge.

Lukaku was dropped immediately and told to get fit, and is being sold, which is very ruthless. James has been bought I suspect to push Martial to try harder or actually replace him. I think we will see James oust Martial this year. If we buy Ben Yedder too we could conceivably see Rashford out of the team. I think the right wing will go to Greenwood and Chong more than Lingard and Mata.

So we have Darmian, Rojo, Valencia, Fellaini, Herrera, Pogba, Matic?, Lukaku, 8 players out or transfer listed. Plus a number of demotions or increased competition for places. Considering Ole hasn't even been here a year I think that is as ruthless as he can realistically be. Whether Woodward will be as ruthless in successfully selling remains to be seen.

I thought it was a good presser. But no, turns out an innocent comment about the fans turned out to be a main topic here. So that's a problem, can't be satisfied with all of his comments, no no.

Do you really want to put the tagline in it especially considering what you've got as a tagline? Seriously? How old are you? 5?

I hope you enjoyed your moment but I guess I'll go back to topic. Someone must. You're such a top red btw.

Mate, he is full of shit... These are his recent quotes. Probably woke up today with split personality or something.

Depressing squad. And it's probably gonna get worse by the start of the season.
If we lose Pogba and DDG(our only top players) we might as well admit that we are a second rate club.

I see many people saying that we will reinvest and shit. Unfortunately, in real life, you can't sell your best players, buy 7 Argentinian regens and win 5 CL in a row.

In real life, we're not very attractive for the very top of players. We have no CL, we have a questionable manager, we have a poor squad. Remove Pogba and DDG from our squad and we're a midtable team, no better than the likes of Wolves or Everton.

What we need is to keep our best players and add some more. Not to replace them with championship youngsters or overpriced midtable players.

This isn't the thread for talking sense. You have to be angry that we haven't sold half the squad already, like people seem to think Ole said would have happened by now.

You'll have to elaborate on what you think that demonstrates, pal.
