Again.. I said ALL. I actually highlighted in bold in my second comment. Your reading comprehension is abysmal clearly.

No, he hires a person called a football manager who is in charge of that. Who in turn hires his team (coaches, head of scouting etc).. same way LVG and Jose done. The latter hired Ribalta who quit a year later and we had the CB fiasco.
You are calling every one silly and yet it is you who is supporting an incompetent CEO who doesn't how to run a football club. What's even more silly is when you put all the blame on manager and act as if the club starts and ends with the manager. If I am CEO of a company and I keep on sacking manager because the company is not doing well then surely something is wrong with my working. It's Woodward's job to make sure club has a proper structure so that he can plan for the future.

And if his job is to just hire football manager then he has not done a good job considering all the managers he have appointed till now has failed. ANd the way this summer is panning out even Ole will fail. ANd you will still be here defending this clueless individual who is doing nothing but ruin this club. Hey but atleast we will have a noodle sponsor.

The Ribalta thing was weird and we will probably never now the truth of what really happened. Ribalta was never head of scouting though, he was hierarchially under both Jim Lawlor and Marcel Bout. He kind of came in from the side.
Its pretty well documented that Mourinho did not get a long with the established scouting network at United and wanted to establish his own control over it or just bypass it. This might have been part of that.
Its too bad that we will never know what happened there for sure, it would probably shine a lot of light at Mourinhos time at the club.

And as for other clubs let us look at other top 6 clubs

Arsenal fans have criticised their board more than us, even though we are a bigger club than them
Chelsea fans have criticized their director Mariana Granovskaia time and time again
Spurs fans have been critical of levy for penny pinching and their expectation are far less than Manchester United so their fans won't be too displeased of how they have done
Liverpool under the new ownership have been much better run with proper planning and are in a better position than us in comparison to 2013
City are run amazingly well and they have proper footballing men in charge to take footballing decisions and are far ahead than us.

So yes we are one of the worst run top clubs so Woodward should take a lot of
criticism

Think its fairly common knowledge and not really much to it in that he was offered a better job at Zenit as a Sporting Director. It's a step up if you will so why not?

His official role was "chief scout" so if that doesn't mean head of scouting I stand corrected. It does give the impression of a senior role within the department hence I believe that was the case?

As you say, Jose has a history of not playing well with others so last summer wasn't a surprise for me.

Arsenal have never singled out their CEO - Venkatesham. I'd actually never heard of his name until having discussions on here even that's how under the radar he is.
Chelsea's CEO is Guy Laurence. not Granovskaia. She is a director on the board.
Liverpool's is Peter Moore. Barely heard of him again until recently.
City is Soriano - Largely know him due to the recent docs on amazon prime.
Spurs is Levy

Out of all of them the most notable in recent years was the latter, Levy. You mention his penny pinching but that has also been to their benefit quite often.

Now, do you see the difference? You've made mistakes in your own name dropping here and as I've proven half them are complete unknowns, but only at United is there this utterly bizarre intense focus on the CEO.

Feck Woodward, feck all his minions along with Judge and feck the Glazers! All the discussion I have for their supporters.
Well said and sums up exactly what I feel about all the feckers. Will be happy when they eventually feck off although I sadly can't see this happening for a long time. But I can hope.

The CEO of United is the reason why the team is shit on the pitch, and also why the club has become a laughing stock. The idiot needs removing and fast. He does not give a shit about results as long as the cash is coming, and if you believe otherwise you are just another idiot.

Care to address the point I actually made in my comment rather than further insults?

I'll address yours mind.

I put it to you that if City lost Soriano their success would continue because they've got it right across the club with the players, manager, coaching and scouting with a stable board. It isn't singularly down to Soriano. He is but one cog in a bigger machine... their cogs all fit though.

Same way our failings aren't singularly down to Ed. Ed leaving isn't suddenly going to have players playing above their abilities, I mean is Young suddenly going to learn to cross a ball? Is Pogba going to boss the midfield because Ed leaves? The player power isn't going to magically leave just because he does, its deeper than that. Is Lingard suddenly going to stop acting a maggot on social media because Ed goes? There are issues across our club that are there pre Edward still that haven't been fully fixed even like scouting, which we are stilling recruiting for.

So as you can see we have issues with managers doing poorly, players not performing, scouting, coaching (huge issue as our players perform pre United and then turn shit suddenly for us) etc etc..Our cogs in the machine aren't fitting.

I could go on, you get the idea... I'm deeply, deeply sorry to have to tell you this terrible heartbreaking news, but Ed leaving won't magically fix everything.

We won't agree on it and that is perfectly fine. Feel free to hit "ignore". ;)

You do realise that it is Woodwards job to sort all that? After 6 years, what has he achieved?

Actually we can't really cause as a club we keep things in house for the most part.

Why are you ignoring my questions? Are you afraid that the answers to those questions deflect blame away from Ed which would devastate you?

I am ignoring your questions because they are totally irrelevant. WE have come way.. beyond the question of "is Woodward harming United, every man and his dog can see that Manchester United have dropped from being one of the top clubs in Europe to being just another Europa league team. And that is because the current owners and their crony Ed Woodward have actually no interest in football. Things are going to get a lot worse before they get better, and they will only start to get better when the Glazers feck off.

Exactly. Now it’s more a question of ”can he realize he’s useless in his current role and take a step back”. So far the answer seems no.

He never was a CEO before United. I’m sure he’s excellent at engineering shady LBO’s and being a banker, but that’s not the same as being CEO of a football club. Much less a combined DOF and CEO.

He’s just a banker who got promoted to his level of incompetence.

I do not know if The Glazers are as much responsible as Woodward. I do think he is living on borrowed times too and if United keep failing then The Glazers are ruthless enough to move him from United.

You could have made the same point at any stage in the last 6 years. He won't be going anywhere unless there is sustained external pressure and disgust.

They supposedly run Tampa Bay Buccs exactly the same way, Ed isn't going anywhere

So he's poor at recruitment for a start. The guy negotiating for our contracts/transfers is his guy too.

No matter which way you dress it up, and you're trying hard with your mental gymnastics, Woodward is responsible for the lot. That's why he's paid so well. Just because he's employed people below him, it doesn't make him fecking Teflon.

Only sensible post in this entire thread.

I wouldn't bother getting into this argument here though. You'll just have bricklayers who read one article in the Express and believe they now have a firm grasp on the subtleties and responsibilities of being a CEO arguing with you. It's not worth the time.

Organisational structure, developing company’s short and long-term strategy and adapting to the changes in the competitive environment which clearly happened some time ago, setting clear vision, improve decision-making process, being responsible for overall success of company (which should equal mainly to football success as we are a football club) along with being responsible for making top-level managerial decisions. That wouldn't be his job and he isn't failing?

Must be honest, would love to take CEO jobs in one of the companies you and keefy work for.

Very good points sand sums up what I've been thinking about Woody. I agree that he needs removing fast but as long as he keeps on making the Glazer's money which he is very good at, although crap at spending wisely and I fear he is going to be here for a long time as are they as well, especially with the new American TV deal coming in a few years. They are looking forward to their large slice of that pie and a bit more greedy feckers.

All he seems to care about is top 4, which is pathetic as with the resources we have we should constantly be aiming to win the best trophies and I really don't like the man.Would like to see them all gone as quick as possible but personally I can't see that happening any time soon mate

Agree 100%, he is the guy who engineered the takeover of the club, and most people seem to forget, that it was then seen as a hostile takeover, how hostile does it look now.? It is simply a group of rich people who have taken over the club to fill their pockets. And that is becoming more evident with every year that passes.
A group of rich people who have become richer by orchestrating a takeover which I don't believe should have been allowed to happen. I think if someone wants to buy a club, any club not just ours, they should prove they have sufficient money themselves to take over the club and not have to get loans to buy it. They seem to fail to know how to or more likely choose not to invest money wisely into the club. Feck them and Woody. Looking forward to the day when they all feck of preferably soon, although I think that is as unlikely seeing them investing money wisely in the team money mate.

Have you heard yourself? 'Me and you are above all the other posters in here so there's no point even trying to respond'. It's not a good look.

People do not think for one second that Ed is our only problem, the fact the owners of the club refuse to move him on after overseeing such decline, is testament to the much bigger issue we have, but we all know why he is where he is, and all know that he is totally the wrong man to oversee the footballing side of things, but the fact Woodward seemingly has the choice himself if he wants a DOF, and to restructure things, is far from healthy now, he needs telling.

Will removing him cure everything? Not a chance, but it would takeaway the comfort blanket from the Glazers, and hopefully force them into bringing in a proper footballing man to try and sort this mess out, that for now would be enough.

Thats not a newsflash. But here is a newsflash, posting on here is called venting. You see, fans know that they are powerless but they still like to expression themselves. Unless you were going into the game of thrones thread and pissing all over the discussions in there of what people hoped to see happen I fail to see what exactly the point is, other than stating the obvious of course.

As for who gets the job. Heres a novel idea, interview for it. Dont just take someone based on their CV or because they a mate. Actually talk to them and find out what their plans are for taking the club forward. Not just commercially, because that gravy train will end once we meander outside the top four long enough.

And Im not shouting anything, and other people have put forward names. Perhaps you should be quoting them, and not me. As all I am doing is making the point that woody is responsible for our current state.
I’m completely on your side but why would the Glazer think their gravy train is going to end? They have just had record turnover for a Premier League club in arguably our worse season since they took over the club.

Until fans start to walk away and make a stand nothing is going to change. I don’t see any desire from the Old Trafford fans to do that. They turn up every week, shout a few songs at the beginning of the match and then go silent watching the tumescent football in front of them. They shouted Moyes name to the bitter end, LVGs then José. They accept the mediocrity. These are the fans that stop the club going anywhere as they turn up no matter what. It’s the same at Arsenal and Newcastle. Until they stop turning up every week the Glazers won’t leave.

I’m past supporting the club anymore, nothing is being done to change our circumstances. That comes from the top being the Glazers and Woodward. Bad decision after the bad decision which ironically costs the club millions whilst they won’t spend money to get transfers done. I will always follow United and watch them on TV but I’ve lost all passion I had for this club last season. There is a constant acceptance of not being the best anymore that has now trickled down to the fan base.

There are so many threads saying can we finish 4th? Finishing 1st should be the only target for Manchester United every single season. It should be achievable with the financial power the club has compared to the rest of the league yet we sit here not being able to sign decent players.

I agree with your first point in bold. With the new US TV deal coming in, in a few years the greedy twats are going to want a large slice of that pie.

Regarding your second point in bold I think that is extremely valid. It annoys me that we have all this financial clout yet seem to use it to line the Glazer's pockets rather than investing it wisely to get us back to the top where we belong: challenging for the major honours. Instead we moan about no value in the market and investing the bare minimum to try to achieve top 4. This attitude by our owners stinks and I am looking forward to day that those leeches and Woody feck off from the club, although I can't see it happening any time soon mate.

You see that's my issue, I'm here having to correct a frankly ridiculous statement when I believe that the board is inept for other reasons than money. The club doesn't moan about value and it spends almost everything on the team, this claim that we invest the bare minimum or penny pinch is almost fraudulent.

Even if Woody went or changed jobs then nothing would happen. Its fairly obvious the owners are not even slightly interested in our club being a top performer. Otherwise they would take that record turnover and invest heavily to overhaul the club.

What rings it home is the work that City are doing to turn their club into a superpower with a global fanbase and still investing in football being better. They're already doing it on the pitch but also they are cultivating the next generation of fans. Last week, where I work, there were hundreds of kids who were bussed into Manchester all wearing City shirts, bags etc for some kind of training camp and it had been paid for by the club (flights etc too apparently). One day the systemic neglect of the Glazers will manifest in the club being left behind, really far behind, and by that time one can only guess what kind of mess we will be in. They need to go if we want any hope of turning it round

All over the place
You see that's my issue, I'm here having to correct a frankly ridiculous statement when I believe that the board is inept for other reasons than money. The club doesn't moan about value and it spends almost everything on the team, this claim that we invest the bare minimum or penny pinch is almost fraudulent.
Agree, I also don't have much or any issues with the amount of money the board spent. The way they spend it or waste it is what is the frustrating part.
If anything, we overestimated the value of money and at times looked like we think we can solve everything with it.
