Not necessarily unsucessful but players who, for various reasons, faded into mediocrity.
2 of our own come directly to mind:
Michael Owen
Joe Cole

BentleyThat one dude.
New Beckham, Spurs and Blackburn...
He’s such a good candidate for this thread that for the life of me I can’t think of his name.

All players fade away
Stephen Ireland was absolutely brilliant one year for City, had a number of big clubs looking at him. Then suddenly he couldn't get into Aston Villa's team. Can't remember if he had an injury or what.
Yeah but some fade away quicker than others. Going to wrong clubs, not being able to deal with pressure, being overhyped when young, you name it.Kaka
Pato
Robbie Fowlar
Adriano
Julio Baptista
Kieran Richardson
Bellion
Heinze
Spector
Lee Sharpe
Philip Albert
Espen Baardsen

Inter's front 3 of Mancini Adriano Quaresma.
That was touted as being a world beating attack force.
All underperformed and then faded into obscurity.
Gamst is excellent playing for Tromsø in Noggie's top division.Morten Gamst Pedersen.
Used to always be a nuisance whenever we played Blackburn, he was also touted as Giggs heir.

Whats the lads name from city? Michael Hall or something? Seemed like a really good CM prospect but apparently became better at drink than football!
Ryan babel anyone?
Freddy Adu? Threads like this are so incomplete without this famed FM legends.
Too early...
I saw signs of his decline the year before he joined us to be honest. Goalscoring wise he still had a great season but he just didn't seem as sharp all round as he use to.Shevchenko slowly faded away once he moved to Chelsea. Real shame, loved watching him.
