Anyone who watched Palace over the last two seasons or so knew he was going to a class signing. The rest simply didn’t watch him and pretended he wasn’t good.

Our RCB is going to have a much less traumatic year than last.

Honestly I felt so bad for their left flank  He fecking bullied Dalbert who is fast as feck usually.

I think teams focused on width are going to have a hard time playing against us this season. Wan Bissaka is obviously brilliant 1v1 defensively and has been for a while already, and even for Palace was regularly shutting down that flank. If there's something you can say for Shaw though is that that's also been his strength on the left, just maybe not to the same extent. Last season was Shaw's first full season that he managed to stay fit though, and the biggest complaints with him were how he is on the ball and his runs, so who knows, could well progress with that and we could have 2 excellent all round fullbacks.

Our full backs always allowed the opposition to cross easily. AWB will put a stop to that. I hope Shaw can also up his levels this year.

Thank goodness, aside from Rafael (for a short period of time) we haven’t had a decent RB since Neville.

We will now really start to see how god awful Valencia has been over the past 5 years - an utter fraud. He’s in a great position, as the bar for Utd RBs is so low - that it’s quite frankly very easy to improve on.

Let’s just make sure he gets the suppprt when he makes the inevitable mistakes a young player will make.

Although it's still early days....he reminds me of Stam in terms of his presence and tackling ability

The tackle where he gave dalbert a 5 yard running start was savage. That man has a family, no need to do him like that.

It's nice to see that he's not holding back in his tackling and just goes in like he wants to destroy the winger.

I think he could be like Ashley Cole: not flashy but solid as feck, a great athlete and remarkably consistent.

That’s a massively exaggerated assessment of Valencia’s spell at RB, although it is not far off the truth for his last season or two.

Mourinho’s first season he was the best RB in the league for me.

For each tackle you could see him get more and more demoralised - long may it continue

My favourite bit was near the end of his time on that pitch where instead of getting nailed by Wan again he hit a really early ball from not far in our half for which seemed like just to keep Bissaka away from him.

Was a pretty good cross in the end mind and he almost found Perisic

I remember that one, I was hoping for one more tackle but the player just crossed the ball from deeper position. When AWB is 1v1 with any winger, I'm confident that he will just win the ball back.

Yeah, I remember that. It was a ball to Perisic, that Bailly snapped up. I knew he was broken after that, which is insane if you think about it.

Liverpool got the two best fullbacks in the world already. Wan Bissaka, while being good, is not on the same tier as either of them yet.

The TAA - Robertson pair might have even surpassed the Marcelo - Carvarjal pair in their prime already. They are just that good.
No doubting they have been excellent for Liverpool. I think Bissaka is a better right back though personally, been following him for 18 months since he broke through and displaced Fosuh Mensah. I rate TAA very highly, but I was dying for us to sign Bissaka LAST summer, think he has genuine world star potential as one of the best full backs we have ever produced in this country, rate him that highly

Gomez is a right back converted center back. Even though he did well the first half of the season, he is not a better individual defender than Lindelöf or Smalling. He just complemented Van Dijk well, who seem to turn average defenders like Matip, loveren and Gomez into decent/good ones. I even believe Tuanzebe would have done as good as Gomez if he played in the Liverpool system.

Becker had only one season at the top. when he can consistently have multiple good season like De Gea then there can be more credibility added to his ability. De Gea was also only poor towards the end of last season. Alison has never had a game like De Gea had against Spurs last season. Robertson is good going forward, but not as strong defending as is Shaw.

Nevertheless, we will have to wait and see what happens next season. I don’t believe any United fan would rather have Liverpool center back option minus Van Dijk. I rather have Smalling, Lindelöf, Tuanzebe, Bailly and Jones over Matip, Lovern and Gomez.

Don’t think Shaw is miles behind Robertson defensively. Attackwise definetly, but I see improvement in Shaw games in that aspect. The screen they have in front of their defense is Fabinho or Henderson. We have Fred, Matic, or Mctominay. No doubt Fabinho is the best of the lot, but Fred and Mctominay showed they are able to screen the back four as showed against Barcelona and team after that match when they hit great form.
Completely disagree on Gomez, I actually rate him higher as a centre back than TAA as a right back, he is a superb centre back in the making. Cant compare our defence with any top defence in Eerope at the moment, that is ludicrous in my opinion, we have about 6 bang average at best centre backs, not a single good one.....no argument to make whatsoever

They should have noticed when he had his debut against us 2 years ago. Muzzled us on his own.

Gonna get corrupted by the diamond slogan on necklace gang.
He’s been doing that since his Palace days tbh. He has a big diamond ring with ‘AWB’ on it for a start. Not that any of it makes a decking bit of difference of course.

So glad to hear he had another good game. Huge relief to have that position sorted.
Good game seems like a bit of an understatement. I’ve never seen an opposition player dominated like Dalbert was today by Wan-Bissaka. It got to the point where I was feeling sorry for Dalbert honestly never seen anything like it.
It’ll be worth checking out a Bissaka vs Inter highlights video later if you can find one.

I’ll be honest - I wasn’t 100% convinced by his signing.

I was wrong though. He has all the tools. Between him and Dalot we are sorted at right back.

This guy casually let people go past him, then chase it back and bam. Wingers should be terrified.

He's a freaking monster.

Oh god, why do you have to go to that route.

Is it really necessary to disrespect Valencia like that?
