So is Bale to be honest. Happy to sit on the bench and collect his massive wages
Not at all.

He has a contract and his family are happy in Madrid. He's doing nothing wrong at all.

He would be an absolute legend anywhere else. It's quite disgusting the way he's been treated.

Not really, don't think any legend goes around saying they are happy to play golf and collect

Zidane is also doing nothing wrong, he picks the team, if Bale doesn't fit his plans, he is within his rights to not pick him and let him know he is no longer required.

Ole should do the same with certain players

Have to admire Zidane in some ways. Doesnt fancy a player and goes all out to get rid of him. Whereas we tend to renew players contracts like confetti. We should have taken this approach with Sanchez and gone all out to get rid of the fraud.

Being a Cnut is not any sort of quality I admire in a man!

A loan structured like the one Bayern had with James Rodriguez would be relatively cheap.
I wouldn't back our negotiating team to have the shrewdness of Bayern's.

Us getting fleeced (inevitably) is what is massively off putting to me even more than the player being a crock.

If he has a similar effect as Henrik Larsson did then why not.

If the deal makes financial sense and I suspect it might be a goodwill gesture as well so they can secure Pogba next season.

"Zidane is a disgrace to speak like that about someone who has done so much for Real.
"If and when Gareth goes it will be because it is in the best interest of Gareth and nothing to do with Zidane pushing."

If it’s a choice between no other RW coming in or Bale on some type of cheapo pay as you play deal then I would take him but the problem as you said is we’d get taken for mugs and have pay 80m and massive wages.

To go where?
Some people are convinced United has been for him every single transfer window since he moved to Madrid. I suspect we’ve had interest at certain points, but more recent interest is probably from rather dubious sources.

I’d be very surprised if he comes here, unless it’s on terms that are heavily weighted in our favour - I.e. a heavily subsided loan or Madrid paying off a substantial portion of his wages. Spurs might be more receptive as an escape route, having Bale back for their first full season in the new season would be a statement. Remains to be seen if Pochettino would for for that, though.

There's a big jump from alleged interest to Bale refusing a move.
Well his comments that he'd rather play golf than take a wage cut speaks volumes as well no? What treatment does he expect from the club that has him under contract with comments like these?

Bet Gareth is glad he went to Madrid now. Won some great trophies but is as rated as Casemiro or some random squad player.

What a toxic atmosphere that place has.

Does sound like he and his agent are backing down somewhat. Usually they reply with he's staying and he has a contract to be honoured.

Very poor from Zidane. Comes across disgracefully. That’s not how to speak about someone in the situation as manager/player.

I'd imagine he expects to be treated with some respect given what he's done for them. He said he'll turn up for training, give his all and play golf if they decide not to use him. He is being professional.

Money is important, but I wouldn't stay in a club that wants me gone, shows no respect and downplays my achievements (including 4 UCL in the Starting XI).

Doesn't sound very professional to me. Sounds more like a cry baby. Was the same when he came out with his infamous interview after their CL win. If he feels unfairly treated then piss off. He knew he wasn't a Zidane favourite. They tried to flog him off multiple times already. Why not seek a new challenge somewhere else if he wants to be treated with respect? Money would be my guess. But if he's there just to fleece them he has no right to call for respect. Not that I complain. I love how Madrid are stuck with him. But those cries of solidarity for him are quite interesting.

Fascinating. Even if he goes to wherever, aside from all the well documented stuff about his wages and injuries, mentally he's going to be shot given the way he's being forced out the club. In essence if he doesn't leave this season, his football career is pretty much over as he'll just be a very expensive ornament at Real Madrid for the next 2 years.
Bale financially must be one of the richest footballers in the world so not sure why he just doesn't leave for football terms if nothing else. A cool story would be him going back to Spurs for a couple of seasons....

Genuine ignorant question: can Football Clubs just fire a player (like any other employee) + indemnity?
Only if they breech the terms of their contract I.e bring the club into disrepute or gross misconduct. Things like drug use, gambling, criminality come to mind....

Don’t agree with this behaviour. Maybe it’s a cultural thing but I’d hate for us to be like this, even though there are players I’d like us to move on. Keep it internal and work with what’s best for each party. Just comes across as cnutish to be talking about it to the press like this.

They are paying him a vast wage - If that is getting treated like shit then I hope my employer starts treating me like shit.
Doesn't really work like that does it

We're paying you so we can treat you how we want? The guy was an integral part to 3 back to back CL wins and countless other moments during his spell. His injury record has always been a bit dodgy they should have thought about that whilst offering him 600k per week.

As far as I'm aware they can get rid of anyone as long as they pay the outstanding contract in full. Regarding Bale that would be around 90M euros upfront if it is true that his contract is 600K per week, expiring in 2022.

My friend was in a similar situation at a 'use to be' big club. He was on good wages until relegated from PL and cause he refused to leave or take a pay cut they did everything to belittle him. They made his train with the kids and ostracised him from all first team activities. They leaked what he was on so the fans would turn on him. My friend got mentally unwell as a consequence and became paranoid about the lengths the club would go to in order to force him to leave. He stop using the club mental team just in case the gave him some kind of banned substance and stopped eating at the club for the same reason....

The guy was taking about firing a player but in your instance, I don't think so as he still has a contract so would need both parties to agree to it. If that was the case, Pogba could then buy out his contract with us and join Real where in principle they could repay him through his new one.

I don't understand why they are treating him like this or why Bale is intent on staying, if it was me I would be out of there in a shot, no one needs that kind of bullshit. Is there something else going on behind scenes that I am unaware of?
