Ole has to start agitating over lack of signings

I for one do not think that we will be challenging for titles this upcoming season. The theme here is to rebuild and you don't rebuild in just one season.

Besides, I would like to see what Ole can do with limited resources, to gauge if he is good enough as a manager. If it's only two that we sign, then so be it. Let Ole do his work and for feck sake, get behind him and the team through thick and thin.

Right, but right now you have teams like Everton and Arsenal outspending the wealthiest club in the world. How can Ole operate in that type of environment. We're spending less than Aston Villa, and we're trying to compete for the league.

United should really tone expectations down at least until the blood suckers are gone.

When you have a mid table squad, an EPL relegation contender manager and a transfer strategy which is more appropriate to Palace then that a top tier club then you can't really expect better then 6th place

Meanwhile if we want to support the club then protest. Let's make it difficult for the Glazers to stay and keep sucking the club dry

Rebuilding? You're serious? We made 2 signings, 1 of which is some runner from the championship.

Rebuilding means replacing the deadwood with better players. We have done neither of them

I completely disagree that Ole needs to start agitating about anything. The success in the early part of his tenure was down to a high tempo style and bringing back a high level of positivity to the first team squad.

Pre season has been really positive. It's no guarantee of anything but Ole's job is to get the best out of the squad he's got. If he does that and the team can show improvement, it will be much easier to sign the players he wants.

Everyone has spent less than Aston Villa and we’ve spent more than arsenal and Everton.

We’re having a great pre season. This is the light.
We had a great pre-season under Van Gaal too.

A great pre-season isn't a prerequisite for an upcoming successful season.

Shouldn't be read into too much.

An employee cannot do a good job unless given the appropriate tools to do it. If Ole believes that the squad is good enough then that' s fair enough. However if the club refuse to sign the players he want and get rid of the players he doesn't want then he should do something about it. His reputation as a manager is at stake here

Honestly in such circumstances I would resign a day after the transfer window is closed. Let Woodward sort the mess he created

I agree with your post and tthe point in bold I believe is a crucial one. That is roughly what I've been saying. I think that Ole can see the areas where the team needs strengthening but Woody seems to think the team is good enough for top 4 so he is reluctant to release the funds to sign the necessary players. I don't believe Woody is giving Ole a strong enough foundation to start this rebuild from and if it doesn't work out I think Woody will put all the use Ole as a scapegoat for his failings, then fire him and hire a new manager and rinse and repeat :annoyed:

I thinks that we should get rid of the entire 'football' team and get the kit men and the tea ladies to play. That would get Ed plenty of retweets, and test out Ole in new and imaginative ways. If he can scrape top eight with that lot, he is truly worthy. The money from the sell-off should be spent on improving fan facilities things the board need to spend it on. Oh, and the Glazers are great owners. And anyway, if they left, we might get someone much, much worse. Burp.

Which is dangerous for Ole. United had already destroyed the careers of 3 managers all of which were more experienced then he was. I can understand he loves United and he wouldn't want to leave us. However he shouldn't ruin his career for anyone

I agree with this and it shows how shambolic Woody is. It's as if he thinks he has more football knowledge than our managers and not willing to take their opinion into account.

You can’t just include their linked players and ignore ours!
I take tour point into account which is a fair one. I believe they are nearly certainly nailed on to sign him while I don't have faith in Woody to sign anyone else. although I really hope in the next 2 weeks that he proves me wrong.

I repeat. If Ole truly believes he's got the tools to do his job then that's fair enough. If not though then, in my opinion, he should make it obvious that he won't be starting the season if the issues at hand aren't sorted first. He shouldn't accept to be made a scapegoat for Woodward or anyone else

Fair enough. But let’s wait till then before complaining. I imagine by Thursday we will have two more signings to get excited about.

It's all relative. It depends what you think doing a good job is. He can still do a good job relative to the squad at his disposal.

Ole has been pretty clear that it's a long term rebuild. The squad is full of average players who lack leadership qualities that the club is really struggling to move on.

If he can develop a style of play, a strong character in the dressing room and bring young talented players through, it will be a "project" that top players want to be part of. That is doing a good job, irrespective of who Woodward signs for him.

Sancho is obviously a target. If United show real potential this season, they have a great chance of getting him next summer. There's no point spending £70m on a less preferred option this summer if Sancho is the one they want.

The fans won't let that happen this time, The Glazers should let him sign who he wants, or their golden boy Woodward will find it won't be so easy to just sack the manager & shift the blame as he has before.

Ole has a free run at this, get it right and he's a hero, struggle like all the other managers have under Woodward, then he's blameless, & might be the one to finally slay the failed regime.

Ole agitate. He is the wet dream 'yes' man for Ed.

Ole - Knocks on door 'Excuse me Mr Woodward' Can I talk to you about signing a CB?
Ed - We are not signing anyone - Get out there and tell the world you are happy with the crock of s*it we have here
Ole - Yes Mr Woodward, Right away Mr Woodward. Would you like a cup of tea whilst I am here Mr Woodward

I can fully understand your point although I believe that although Ole hasn't been the correct tools I don't think he is going to do anything about it as he cares too much for the club and will just try and make best use of the cards he has been dealt.

He's probably working on the media briefings now, 'Ole refused a DOF' , 'Big name wouldn't sign for him even though funds were there' , 'Constant harking back to the SAF days were unhelpful' , etc.

Not this time Edward.. not this time.

I totally agree with your point in bold. Although I believe if Woody wants to sack the manager and pass the blame on he will do it, the same as he has done it before.
I think if this did happen, it would uproar amongst the fans as there is no way should a club legend like Ole be treated this way. But I don't think Woody cares how we feel. He needs to grow a pair of balls and be prepared to take the blame when he makes a mistake, instead of constantly passing the buck on.

No he should not. He is not Jose Mourinho.

Ole is being himself and saying the right things. That's the way to go. No need going public with the nonsense going on. Jose could do it because, well, that"s what he does and he got sacked for it, something he is known for and used to. It certainly did not augur well for the club.

Unfortunately, I fear that Ole's good behaviour might not change our lot much. The owners and CEO just have to be 'pushed' (by we fans), to start doing everything possible to pull this club back up.

There are a lot of experts around these days.

Ole experts, senior executive experts, club owner experts, player experts, tactical experts, psychics and mystics too.

The truth is most of us know dick all about anything at the club. Where we are now may not be where we are come deadline day.

And the sad truth is the club does not give 2 shites about any of us. Ed does not care, nor the owners.

We want change we must get them out. Anything less is in reality a waste of time and energy.

Would it be intelligent? No. Who has done this before? Mourinho, Conte, Benitez. What has it lead to? Bad atmosphere, drop in performances, sackings. Little new signings.

Who didn’t? Ferguson, Zidane, Ancelotti, Guardiola (to my knowledge). Also a load of unsuccessfull managers didn’t complain publicly about the board’s lack of signings, probably because even if they were not good enough managers, they were still intelligent enough to see that it disrupts much and aquires little.

A manager complaining publicly about the board before the end of their first transfer summer - I can remember examples, but the examples I remember commenced with manager sacked/quit before season start and relegation battle for the club.

Tjere just isn’t much pointing towards that it’s something a responsible manager will do.

To be fair, I think they are looking for more than 2 players but due to the high prices, the club isn't moving as we want them to. Also, we can't simply get rid of the deadwood when there isn't much demand for them. Hence, the only option for Ole is to work with what he has got and that includes promoting the youth players.

As I've said, it's part of a lengthy rebuilding process. Rome wasn't built in one day as they say.

You are spot on with the part in bold and it hurts like heck. All they career is about making money when they should care more about what happens on the pitch.

I would love them out and hopefully have a better owner who cares about much about results on the field as they do about making money. But due to the new NBC deal happening in 2 years, I fear they are going to be around for at least this long.

Ole also said that this will be the survival of the fittest and here we are keeping all the players and he also wanted all signings to be wrapped up by pre season training and here we are. Correct me if I am wrong but the target was 5 players. We had since signed 2 one of which is some runner from the Championship. If the minimum target for Ole is the same to what was set for Moyes, LVG and Mou then we'll need to make it to top 4. I doubt we've got the squad for that.

I am quite excited on youths as most people in here. However what we're asking from them goes way beyond to what we asked the class of 92.

a- we had a better manager back then
b- we had a better team back then.
c- the class of 92 were older then Greenwood, Chong and co when they were introduced to the first team
d- the EPL wasn't as tough back then than it is now

Regarding Sancho, with all due respect, these clowns can't even sign a decent CB or bring in a DOF. How on earth can Sancho be a target? I think the real target is to find ways how to blood suck the club so that the Glazers can make pay their loans

That's the market we live in. That doesn't stop others from bringing the players they need to win. We keep saying that we're the biggest club in the world. Well, its time we act like one.

Regarding your analogy, Rome wasn't built by putting two bricks every year while keeping all the heap of rubbish around either.

He's a master in propaganda. In time, leaks will start coming out about players being unhappy with Ole, about his methods being outdated and about top players being at the brink of signing with us only to turn us down once they learnt that Ole was there. Other leaks would say that scouts suggested Pepe and Varane, that they were very close to joins but unfortunately Ole ended up vetoing those deals, preferring James instead as he only wanted players from the EPL/Championship. The new manager will back the board up until he'll be in that shitty situation himself. We've seen that already.
