it's not about being better or worse, it's just that Lukaku doesn't really fit the profile Ole wants from his #9, simple as that. As soon as Rom realized that, he began flirting with Italy.
Does Lukaku have a god-given right to be an undisputed starter? He is in the top 5 or 10 best paid players in the PL, the least he could do is fight for the fecking badge and prove himself.

But he played as much as Rashford and probably more than Martial under Ole? If he was a "man", he would have been fighting but instead decided to moan about moving to Italy since around April, just before out games against Barcelona.
Rashford just offered more to the team, we were noticeably more static with him in the team. Lukaku just doesn't have the mobility we're looking for in our current system. I still believe a team playing to his strengths will get 20 goals a season out of him, especially in Italy.

Very likely was told by the club to find other clubs as soon as Ole joined. All the flirting could be with club’s blessing. Not one negative comment about him was leaked and we are masking his transfer dealing with a fake injury story.

Lukaku was on the other side of this when he was the ultimate first choice under Mourinho, no matter how badly he performed, constantly playing the full 90 mins no matter what the score was. It was simple, Lukaku was his striker and he always plays when fit. He'd go on about his insanely strong mentality to make it no matter what obstacle, his "grow a pair" references to players that were struggling for time on the pitch under Mourinho, how it was just an obstacle they needed to get past.
Now when he finds himself in a situation where he's no longer first choice, and rightly so given his performances over the last 12 months, he has feck all of a pre-season where he's barely involved in anything whatsoever, putting further pressure on us to accept a lowball bid from Inter.

They did us a favour. Perisic is a decent player but not worth what they wanted for him and the wrong age. Glad we didn't get him.

As a previous poster pointed out that £5-10m gap that people say is nothing actually could be funding smaller things at the club like wages of ground staff, catering etc all the little things that people tend to forget clubs still have to pay for.
As well as that Lukaku is by most definitions a top class striker in that he scores almost every other game throughout his career. If Inter or Juve want him they need to pay up.

Matuidi is exactly the type of MF that allows us to get the best out of Pogba, even if it's only short term until a more permanent solution can be found.

I think people should just embrace the reality that some managers just don't click with some players and that does not necessarily have to do with a system of play. There are dozens of other possible reasons.

I like to keep this Pogba issue as simple as: if he wants out, let him go but get good money or player exchanges for him. If he wants to stay, by all means let him stay but please keep the captain's band away from him.
I saw that but I don't think it's a smart idea to take on 32 year old in a new league and on probably big wages (in order for him to switch from a CL contender to Europa league).

There are still more goals in Lukaku than in Rashford, Martial, Greenwood, etc. There is a reason why Conte and Sarri rate him well higher than the average caftard.
Imo, Lukaku is not good enough to be the main striker of a PL title-winning team but is more than good enough for a team aiming at top 4. His goals will be probably missed should he leave. Greenwood isn't ready to replace his goals and someone from another league (Dembele) might need time to adapt to the PL.

Don't get the "hate" for Inter on this. They did us a favour by asking for too much for Perisic and they're about to do us another favour by taking Lukaku for almost the same amount as we bought him for.
Their last bid was £54m. Over £20m short of what we paid.
