It's not as cut and dried for us to so easily dismiss this as our decision not to sign him.

It should be of no little concern that players are starting fancy the prospect of joining us less and less other than the possibility of a big pay day.

If we have pulled out due to his excessive wage demands..then good call. If he doesn't want to be here then fine, we find someone who does.

If Dybala doesn't want to come to United and all he cares about are his wages, we shouldn't sign him.

With 5 days to go, and a week of pissing around with Dybala, it's likely no one is coming in now

He doesn’t want to leave Juve remember?
I don’t think he’ll have a choice by Monday evening, I suspect he’d be more opens to staying in Italy. I don’t think it was as simple as not wanting to join us as much as being settled in Italy, so he may be more open to joining Milan.

I wonder how much of a role united fans being hyenas on social media about Lukakus first touch influenced Ronaldo to pull the plug on this

Can Inter offer him the same wages as we do?

Thing that gets me about that is that they're complaining about his wage demands, but were happy to give Sanchez an ungodly amount when he's been absolute crap.
Need to get him shifted on too i think!

This is good news as far as I'm concerned. We should be buying players we have scouted, not pursuing opportunistic deals like this one. I feel like OGS made a blunder by even considering this signing and now he's been let off the hook.

This could have been Di Maria all over again. Quality player but not sure he really wants to come here.

Argentina chants would have been fun though :(

Is anyone disputing that?

The anger is that we have wasted time on this shit when we could have fecking well addressed the issues in our squad by targeting players who wanted to play for us.

If the club cares so deeply about not having mercenaries playing for us then why did we entertain the Dybala nonsense in the first place?

We are run by incompetent fecktards.

Just want to point out that its not Manchester United that Dybala does not want to sign for. It's Juventus he does not want to leave. And the player has been extremely adamant about that. On top of that I've read several sources state that he flat out doesn't want to play in England because of big cultural differences.

In case some think that its the club that it's the problem here, which I'm convinced it isn't. Dybala was just never going to sign in the Premier League, although I was really hoping he would.

I'm hoping maybe we have pulled back to see if he then comes back to us seeing as Juve clearly want him gone, gonna be a mess if we don't get this done as 4 days to sell a player no one else can afford and buy a quality player to boost our shite attack is going to be difficult.

Good move from Ole. Dybala had ADM written all over again.

Still think we need a MF though.

Hopefully Lukaku goes to inter as well. I would take 55/60 million for him.

Hopefully this shows that someone at the club is now limiting Woodward’s influence on transfer policy.

Yeah but this fell into our lap with Juve wanting Lukaku. It was too good to be true.

Problem is the players that are "desperate" to play for us are nowhere near the best, and inevitably that will reflect in our inability to compete for anything bar 4th, like Arsenal.

I agree with this but don't at the same time. Football is different now.

Aguero and Silva didn't sign for City because they grew up watching them play at Maine Road etc.

Top players expect to be paid top money which is fair enough, by all accounts Dybala doesn't want to leave Juventus despite us offering him massive money, doesn't that make him the opposite of a mercenary?

The actual truth is probably closer to players just don't consider us to be in the upper echelons of football anymore.

And none of them actually made noises about leaving publicly to actually show their interest. Wonder where Mitten saw the “desperation” from these players.

Nail on head.

And, yet again, we fell for it hook line and sinker instead of trying to do some sensible business.

We could have used this time to get some proper business over the line.

Make no mistake, we have not pulled out due to not wanting to pay Dybala — he likely didn't want to come to us at all.

And who can blame him.

We've not spent that long on the Dybala deal have we?

It's been a few days at most.

We didn't know if he wanted to come before negotiations started and it was such a great potential deal we probably stuck at it hoping we could convince him but once it was clear he was a mercenary we dropped it.

I think we've done the right thing.

The issue is spending a week chasing him. I mean the press from the first evening of the story breaking was saying Dybala wasn’t interested.

We’ll sign Maguire and that’s it. We have holes in midfield, right wing and attack with 4 days to go, it’s another horrendous transfer window, the board are a complete fecking joke.

hmm...the way I see it is that players always seek bigger wages. We could call many players money grabbers. If we're saying, we've reservations just cause he asks for a lot of money? It seems a bit odd. This could be a tactic by the club OR not....because the ball either way is in Dybalas court. Maybe they come back with adjusted demands. I wouldn't start saying...ohhh United are being sensible...at the end of the day, we'll see how sensible or smart we think we are at the end of the transfer market and then at the end of the season.

Because if we have the money, and he's what we think we need? At the end of the day, the solution is to perhaps sell our own players. Someone pointed out probably Drogba didn't want to go Chelsea initially...it ain't always as big an issue as people determine.
