Genuine question but why would Eriksen leave Spurs for United?

They have a better squad, manager, stadium, Champions League..

I think this gets done. It makes sense. We get Eriksen for 60-70 mil. They get Bruno for about the same- prob less with levy negotiating. Otherwise Eriksen goes next year and they are out 70mi or whatever price they pay for replacement. Levy won’t let that happen. Also think Dybala wage and agent demands will mean spurs stay well clear.

He's different class to the 3 you mentioned and has much better forward moving momentum. Only worry for me would be that his below par patches last season signal he's already peaked.
And this is why Spurs have no problem with selling him, he's already declining. All of my Spurs fans dont really care if we buy him which says a lot.

I know the Dybala and Fernandes sagas are disappointing but Eriksen is Premier League proven and a 'ready-to-go' for me. Of any of the transfer rumours this summer, this one would make the most sense for me.

Players do like a different challenge. And he might believe that United being out of CL is temporary unlike some of United fans. Also, Spurs does have a better team and a big part of that is Eriksen himself.

Agree with all this 100%.
I too think Pogba on his own as AM is sufficient, with say Brozovic as DLP & a B2B like Partey would be mint.

Still can't get past your claim that Eriksen isn't good enough on the ball though. Is there an AM out there that you rate aside from Pogba/D. Silva?
Well, my favourite AM is Fekir. Can score, create, works as hard defensively as Rooney/Tevez did for us, and is the strongest player on the ball I've seen in recent years alongside Iniesta and Isco. Only problem is his injury problems, but I'm looking forward to seeing how he does at Betis this year.

Then there's Maddison, Lo Celso, Havertz and L.Alberto.

Btw, I didn't mean to imply that Eriksen isn't good on the ball at all. He has many good qualities. It's just that I think we really need midfielders who are good under pressure and can shield the ball, and, imo, Eriksen isn't good in that regard.
Crazy posts from you in this thread. I can’t even address it. It’s like you’ve never watched a football match before.
Well I watched enough to know Mkhi and Mata weren't going to be that good here like the majority thought :p

Can’t correlate different cases. Can only look at the reasons for why you think he won’t be good. Because that’s what you built your case on. And in this case you said it’s because Eriksen isn’t press resistant, good on the ball, or physically strong enough. Which completely belies what we’ve all watched him do for the last 4 years. He may not succeed here, but I’ll bet my bottom dollar it won’t be because he lacks quality on the ball.

Poor last season and this preseason, great on his day but always looks uninterested.

I would steer clear and tell that slimeball Levy to go feck himself

Go get the next eriksen ffs, what happened to investing in youth policy?

What about Van Der Beek, chiesa, etc there's lots of options.

Also we need a defensive midfielder more than an attacking one. But ideally one of each
Totally agree with all of this

Like I said to @sideshow_bob , I never meant to imply that I thought he was rubbish on the ball. I've said that he's creative and a goal threat. The press resistant part, though? Yeah, I stand by that.

Another attacking midfielder who's weak in the ball... Hopefully this doesn't go through. I don't want another Kagawa, Mata or Mkhitaryan.
Those players are weak on the ball? You must be talking tennis or golf because in football being good on the ball is exactly what those players are very good at

Because he'd be playing for a bigger club with much more prestige and glamour for a start.

Kagawa and Mkhi were both shit and Eriksen is a way better player than both.

I think people are forgetting the main AM role is to create chances and not to be a speed demon. They don't have to beat the opponents with pace but with passes.

Mata had to do it because We expected him to be a make-shift winger and obviously He didn't succeed. I've only seen him playing a pure AM role a few times in United shirt (under LvG iirc) and that's a crime. Mata's career at ManUnited has skewed people's view on "slow" attacking players, it's like if you are not Mbappe you're shit and detrimental to the team.

Eriksen is a way better AM (heck, He can even be a good CM) than Mata and if utilized properly, He can be a game changer. But if He's to come here and be another make-shift winger then of course, He'll fail. If We expect him to be a Roy Keane type of CM, He'll fail too.

But We can rest easy because there's no way Spuds would let him go.

He's earning only £70k per week at Spurs ? :houllier::eek:
They've offered him raises, but I believe they've only been in the 130-150k range, and he can almost certainly get more from another club (and a signing on fee too).

Pretty sure Spurs are keen to sell him now rather than lose him for a free. In January he can sign pre contracts with other teams. It’s 50m now, or zero in 12 months. At which point he may leave for a rival anyway. No brainier to take the money now. 50m is a lot to walk away from. Especially when you have the level of debt obligation Spurs now do.

He’d be a brilliant signing for us. I am desperate for this to happen. Probably the PL player I’ve most coveted for the last 2-3 years after De Bruyne. I don’t understand people’s argument that he’s too attacking for our midfield. I would much rather an AM than a DM right now. Pogba can be very good in a double pivot with McTominay, with a license to get forward. Basically McT as the 6, Pogs as the 8, and Eriksen as the 10. But it can also work out that Pogba and Eriksen both play as 8 and a halves. That’s a much more positive, foot forward approach, and the level of creativity he brings makes all our players look better. Especially players like Rashford, who make the runs, and will presumably get found more.

Right now we are so dependent on Pogba for creativity, that if he gets shut down, has a bad game, or is out, we are fecked. We desperately need a creative mid of Eriksen’s quality. Plus, he is used to playing in a high pressing team, and working hard. There are very few players that bring his level of quality on the ball, coupled with his level of workrate. Is the ideal signing if we can pull it off. In fact if Ed does pull this off, I’m gonna pop round his house and pull him off. That’s how grateful I’ll be.

Spoke with my mate who is a Spurs fan. Seems him and I have the same opinion. Good player, bit overrated, goes missing in games and had a lazy attitude last season.

Totally not fussed if we dont sign him. Will not be a game changer and also maybe not what we need.

I thought his heart isn’t in it anymore at Spurs. I think he needs a new challenge hence why his contract only has 1 year left.

The very unlikely chance of signing one of the league's top players after finishing 6th, and some people are genuinely saying they don't want him!

Ole: Hei Christian, hvordan har du det?
Eriksen: Ja godt, hvordan har du det?
Ole: Ja, bra.

This'll be their first training session together.
I want you to say these sentences in their particular dialect :D

Would love Erikson at United but this seems to me like a case of Levy fecking with Woodward. Cant imagine he'd strengthen a direct rival.

I thought he had a great first half of the season but then tailed off a little. In 47 games last season he scored 10 and assisted 17, while out running most of our squad. He got the third most assists in the league last season.

Genuine question, where does he play if we sign him? Looks more an istead of Pogba signing, rather than someone to compliment him?

No chance in hell this deal happens. After our transfer window closes, Levy will sell him abroad.

If we can get him for something around 70 Mio and 200 - 250 k wages that would be a good deal.
Him and Pogba with a hard working and running midfielder like McTominay or Fred should be more than decent.

I agree with the latter comment but I think we basically ruined Kagawa's career.
Not that surprising every time we get linked witn someone negative Nellys come out with excuses not to sign them
Dybala ( overrated had a crap season last year)
Bruno ( plays in a crap league apparently even though that's where we got Ronaldo )
Maguire ( too slow)
ABW ( doesn't do much going forward )
Pepe ( not technical enough )
Longstaff ( not enough experience )
Griezmann ( where would we play him)
SMS ( too slow, not that good anymore )
Bale ( Broken)

Etc etc
And while there are some valid points in there no player is perfect . This is not a game of FM . We need players that are better than the ones we have if we are going to close the gap . So Eriksen Hell yeah
