He needs replacing. Martial and Rashford are good options but we can't rely on just them, even with the talent of the youth team players.

If one gets injured and the other struggles badly for form at the same time, then we're putting a ridiculous amount of pressure on young players who we have no reason to believe can handle suddenly becoming our main goalscorer.

I know we have Sanchez as well but I think we all know that's not a situation we can have confidence in.

Saw the rumour we fancied Llorente, earlier. That is the sort of signing I would like us to make. Doesn't have to be him but just getting in a solid stop-gap back up option, which is basically all Lukaku has been lately, would do the job, I think.

Glad he's finally being shifted from the club! His attitude was disgraceful and we'll be better off without it, BUT i don't think it's a good idea to go ahead and not replace him. Thing is, it's all well and good having Rashford, but he's inconsistent, and we can't count on Greenwood at the moment, he needs to be eased into the squad, not thrown in.

Still can't believe those that tried hyping him up when some of us were questioning why we were signing such a useless footballer.
I was never a fan, but he did have a decent 1st season with us.

He lost all of my support last season for his performances vs Spurs and Brighton early on and coming in overweight.

He was terrible last season and has glaring flaws. We did well to sell him for a hefty fee.

We have nothing to lose selling him. He's rubbish for us. If he does very good for inter in serie a then so be it. It wont change the fact that he has looked terrible in most aspects of the game.

Imo i think he is going to fail in serie a. I think inter will be kicking themselves and Juve will be ecstatic they dodged a bullet. Genuinely cant get my head around the italian interest in him.

He's a good footballer. He's not what we need and doesn't suit our approach, but credit where credit is due. I don't understand the vitriol he gets.

Don't sell yourself short, I value you and I'm happy to share my talent.
Cheers! I'll be pulling on you for my FM save next month

The guy said nobody in any football forum on the internet is more competent than Conte. If you think that's a reasonable comment then well done! You win a prize.

I think it's fair to say that if a poster on any football forum knows more about football than Antonio Conte, someone who has competed and won at the highest levels as a player and a manager, your talents are wasted posting on a football forum.

That's the thing, he's not a good footballer in a technical sense. He was actually alarmingly poor with the ball. He's such an enigma, he scores goals but it never feels like he's played well and, actually, he's detrimental to our play.

But even going back to his last season at Everton, he looked so limited. I remember His performance against us at Wembley, i said after that game that it should put an end to the rumors that we're interested. For us to then go and spend an incredible amount on him blew my mind.

He isn't useless but the widespread overrating has always been strange for me, particularly when I compare him to Lacazette who is someone that has always been criticized.

Competing and winning at the highest level surely doesn't mean you know more about football than someone who hasn't competed and won at the highest level. I'm looking at you Mauricio et al!

Nah, he'll come good there. When Icardi can score 20-30 goals so can he. If you play to his strengths he will score some, miss some, but if you create chances he is easily 20-30 goals striker in Serie A.

We don't play to his strengths and we don't create many chances. So yes he is not useful to us.

If I am a Man Utd fan I will be really worry having only Martial & Rashford as striker. I assume Martial will play on the left and Rashford as striker. There seems no depth for the front 3. Only 2 days left before window close.
I would be more worried about my grammar.

And where exactly does this Mauricio post on the internet?
Somehow I knew you were going to say that.

There are people out there who post on internet forums who know more about football than Conte. Maybe they are stuck in dead-end jobs. Maybe they can't leave the house. Whatever.

I'm a firm believer that one doesn't need to have played a sport in order to know more than those at the top. But I also know the other side of the argument has a large following. So, I'm just going to leave it there, if you don't mind.

We need to sell Sanchez for 20m
We do but I just don't see Sanchez taking a wage cut to move. He pretty much came here for the money. With that contract at this stage of his decline he must feel like a lottery winner. 3 years to go for us

Still baffles me that the two top teams in Italy are desperate for this guy.
Inter are not one of two top teams. I'd still expect them to finish below Napoli. Juve being interested in him does baffle me though. They're so much better than him.

Heh. On paper inter have a fantastic defence, a good midfield and a striker who scores. Plus the best manager in the league, one who's always made a big difference to his teams, especially in his first year

And juventus weren't interested in lukaku per se, they were interested in shifting dybala and mandzukic. Getting a replacement(lukaku) into the deal was a nice bonus

They had all of this last year as well and a fairly decent manager and yet they got incredibly lucky to squeeze through to the CL in the final seconds of Serie A. Conte will ofcourse make a difference but I still really don't see them finishing above Napoli or Juve.

Probably should but I don't know who that is.
He also claimed Phil Foden is one of the best players on the planet. It made for bizarre viewing.
Mills is just a bitter ex Leeds and city who achieved absolutely nothing in his career.

You don't understand the vitriol? We paid anywhere from 75-90 million on this guy and he's scored 16 goals and 12 goals while displaying the first touch of my grandma and the stamina of some fat guy at the end of the bar and now this summer's antics. It's actually quite easy to understand the vitriol.

Could someone explain why there is a big rush to sell Lukaku by Thursday deadline, if we are not going to use the money to bring someone in?

We can sell him to Inter anytime in the next 3 weeks.

Glad his time at United is over. Good luck to him at Inter. Just didn't work out as we had hoped.

Looking back at this, it's pretty shame how this didn't work out. His first 2 months here were like a day dream. I was over the moon back then and convinced he's going to secure the striker position for us for years to come.

Swap deal make more sense in his case. Just swap him for some young talented player or save him as a part of the Sancho deal next summer.
Why would Dortmund be interested in Sanchez next summer?
