I like this type of singing. Plays for 2 years and gets out of the way of younger players. As the season progresses he is a leader and example 100% of the time, is a threat off the bench vs sides that park the bus (although our delivery simply isn't good) and if the pressure is on and rashford or martial aren't scoring he can take a run of 5 or 6 games.

He hasn't played prem football but he has played everywhere else. He is perfect for our style, one of the best ever high press forwards

Decent signing.

Still would like another forward + midfielder(or 2), but that looks unlikely.

We are going to get him lads. I knew Ed the Duck would realise we can’t rely solely on youth..it’s so dangerous upfront. Mandzukic is a reputable a proven goal scorer who I think would suit well to the prem. come on make it happen ducky!!!

Not sure... if we need him.... I would prefer a more quick in transition forward. It sucks how we missed out on Pepe.... he would have been a great replacement for Lukaku and could also operate on the RW.

He looks good in the Italian league since it's on the slower side... Not sure if he'd be a good signing after thinking a little about it.
What about being one of the standout players at on of the finalists in last years WC? And the CL year after year? He has also scored in the final of both tournaments.

We desperately need a striker we can’t rely on Rashford and Martial

A 1 year loan would be good to see us through the season before signing a full time replacement next summer.

He looks good because he's a good player...
I'm sure he's a good player but he's 33 and I'm not if that translates to the PL which is a little more physical and fast

and what about in the German and Spanish leagues?
He was a lot younger when he played in the German league and he was considered a flop at Atletico Madrid

I wouldn't judge players from the WC. But that logic, James Rodriguez should have done really well which hasn't been the case. Also, I'm not taking away from the fact that he's a good player but just highlighting that he wouldn't fit our system all that well. We need someone a lot quicker in transition and could hold up and ball to bring our wingers and full backs into play.

I’m cool with Mandzukic as a stop gap for a year or two while Greenwood finds his feet and is able to contribute consistently. Indeed relying only on Martial and Rashford, with only 17yo Greenwood to fall back on, seems too risky.

I just hope we reinvest the Lukaku money in a CM/DM. It’s the area that most needs reinforcement now.

I wouldn't say he was a flop at Atleti. He scored every other game.

Any comment regarding the CL? He has been good everywhere he has played. Why do you comment on players you obviously don't know anything about? Not fashionable enough for you?

Flop by who, you? 43 Games, 20 goals is hardly a flop. You seem pretty agenda driven bending things to suit your view.

He's obviously not being signed as a first choice player and will be used as a alternative to what Rashford and Martial bring. If the price is right its a smart piece of business and improves on Lukaku in hold up play, pressing and in the air

He is our new Henrik/Zlatan. May not be a bad idea to have his experience in the frontline. He seems to hold the ball up better than Lukaku at least.

I'm not driven by any agenda.... You seem to conveniently miss the point I was trying to make. I said that he's no doubt a good player but I don't think he's the right player for our system and I'm not sure if he would be all that great in the PL. Might wanna brush up on your comprehension skills. Also, an alternative to Rashford and Martial? I would rather we spend our money on a midfielder since I think our midfield is absolute "garbage" in comparison to other top 5 teams in the PL and we will struggle when Pogba gets injured or suspended.

44 goals in 162 for Juve, 20 in 76 in last 2 seasons. Dog shit! A 1 in 4 striker is no better than I'd expect even a youth striker to get.

Why do you comment? Clearly, you lack the ability to have a constructive conversation. If you disagree with my opinion, I suggest coming up with something more constructive from your end instead of being bashful.

Finally, someone to back his opinion with some stats. I'm not interested in getting a striker in just because we need to fill Lukaku's spot. Not everyone has the same effect as Larsson or Ibrahimovic for that matter.

Just admit you have never seen him play and log off.
I've seen him play a few times. I'm by no means an expert in him. Yes i understand there are other aspects to his game, but didn't we just get rid of Fellaini.

Mandzukic is just a smaller older Fellaini with a bit more skill. It's a short term plan B and if it costs £10m that is a waste of money! It's literally all the Fellaini money on a player 2 years older.

Probably just a bit of depth to balance out all the youth we have up front

Apparently any player that is good in the air is a “Fellaini”.

Fellaini invented heading and every other target man in the world is just a poor imitation. Never mind that our strikers are currently two kids and a winger or that we lack any sort of aerial presence up front if we ever need it. This is a total disaster because this striker can head a ball and that's too similar to a midfielder that used to play for us.

To be fair, I have rarely seen him play over the last few seasons. However, stats don't always give us the full picture. Can you, if possible get stats showing the minutes he played to get those goals? I'm just wondering if he might just be coming on as a late sub.

Mario harasses opposition defenders and is a better fit for Ole's United than Dybala.

Him and Harry give me confidence that we'll be nicking games here and there in Fergie time.

I’m pretty sure those who doubt him would change their minds once they see what he brings to the team (mentality, quality and right type for the way we want to play).
Honestly, he’s one of the few players from abroad that I wouldn’t worry about wether he’d need adapting to the PL.
He has been successful wherever he’s been and he has been to different leagues playing for top teams.
The guy’s a winner.

I’m from Croatia so I’ve watched him for years now.

He played good number of mins but he was never a pure goal scorer. He is team player than goalscorer.

He played regularly for Bayner, Juventus, Atletico Madrid with that goal scoring record which says it all and how coaches rate his work rate, link up play and what he brings to the team.

Edit: I didn't watch him recently but in the few games I watched in the past, he was nuisance to play against. Also not sure about the target as whole summer the profile of player we were looking for was completely different.

Never been a huge fan of his, just not really my type of player. But I do appreciate this as a signing, if it comes through, because he does offer a good plan B, because he's a good player. Would be perfect if we got him and Dybala, but now I'm getting silly.
