He should have been sacked after the Roma match in his first season. I said this during this time and people told he was winning the league and Cup ? Crazy how he's entering his 3rd season.

He's a terrible and clueless manager, and by far, the most anti-Barca manager I have seen.

He should do the honorable thing and resign, should have done it in the summer but better late than never I guess.

A lot of the veterans wanted him to stay.

They deserve what they get.

I think even Messi wanted him to stay.

Impossible to get Pep back. Klopp is happy at Liverpool. Pochettino wouldn't dare manage them. Those managers would elevate their performances, but why would any of them join?

Best bet is Allegri or *gulp* Mourinho to steady the ship.

They are a poorly run club (saddled with debt mind) that has Messi to thank for papering over many cracks. Reality check once he leaves.
The last big-name manager Barcelona appointed was Van Gaal back in 2002. Their next one will probably be Xavi or someone like that.

When I saw his line up at Anfield in the 2nd leg of the CL I thought pool had a chance if they could score 1st. Seems to make very poor tactical decisions

Quique Setien is free now... He plays the so called Barca style but i thing the current team actually is not suited to play this kind of football anymore:lol:

My memory might be a bit hazy, but in the first leg it was clear Coutinho was struggling and didn’t fit into the formation. IIRC things changed a bit when Vidal was introduced & at the end, the scoreline flattered Barcelona.

To my surprise, he started Coutinho in the second leg as well. Now obviously he wasn’t responsible for brainfarts from the defence (Alba especially). But yeah....

It’ll be stupid & unfair to sack him in his first season & not getting 2nd chance for the champions league.

You don’t fire a manager in his first season after winning the league & cup just because he failed in champions league.
I agree, but it was a weird one. Firstly the manner of the defeat against Roma & secondly, his tactics have just never convinced.

Real & Atletico (plus Messi) have just luckily for him, all been favorable for him to win La Liga almost unopposed.

I will do all honestly if the writing was so obvious on the wall. There's no reason to delay the inevitable imo, and it showed last season when the same collapse happened again.

Manager deserves 2nd chance to change & improve thing especially when he won the league in his first season.

Last season was different story.

Exactly my thoughts I saw Coutihno and the same system and thought he's lost the plot . Don't forget Liverpool should have scored 2 or 3 in the nou camp as well . Very strange

Was referring to his comment that the manager should be sacked after the roma game which is his first season & his first CL exit (not third).

either way of he fks up again he should be sacked. there is no way a team should come back from 3 or 4 goals down

there's plenty of decent managers out there..... that would have that team playing amazing.

He's wasting a ridiculously stacked talent pool as well as Messi's last few years. Unfortunately for them Messi has also been single-handedly saving the guy's job.

It's not either way.

He shouldn't be sacked in his first season for failing the CL. Last season is different case and he should be sacked. The point is the club was right to give him 2nd chance after his first season & first failure in CL to change & learn things.

we he seems kinda poor then. luis enrique appeared to have no problem kinda dominating europe.

he looks like a small guy in the corner with no motivational skills.

that's all we're saying... we don't think he's good enough. he's a spanish moyes. he might do better at a smaller club, though.

they should get steven gerrard... he'd do alot better in the cl

Bizarre that they've retained him has their manager. CL will again be out of reach. You never know, maybe he'll even manage to get them missing out on La Liga, the trophy they win for fun.

I'm surprised Barcelona haven't sacked him purely on asthwtic grounds let alone the CL defeats. I mean, given the football they've been treated to, I would have expected his ugly style of football to be unacceptable.

He gets worse every season, so it's not outside the realm of possibility.

Crazy world we live in when people want you sacked 1 game into the new season after winning the double, definition of spoilt.

As usual, he'll be relying on Messi to make him look half decent. As per my edited post what surprises me more is Barcelona being fine with his insipid style of play. Imagine going from Pep to Enrique to this shit. And while spending the enormous sums they do. Then again, they're a pretty poorly run club I think. No real plan to anything they do.

That's a much deeper question. Wherever I go online it's more or less a consensus that he's a fraud and that he should have been kicked out half an hour after the final whistle in Rome.

Now for some reason, Barcelona's board is absolutely hellbent on keeping him in like he's the second coming of Rinus Michels. It would make some sense to me if he was actually a progressive manager doing something with long term good prospects, but he's the absolute opposite of that. Do we have any local Barcelona fans here on the forum that could perhaps shed some light on this situation?

I know if I lived there and was a season ticket holder, I would be absolutely livid with the drop in overall level of play from Pep's heyday until now. It seems the socios don't care all that much.

Must be nice winning the league two years in a row and the fans still wanting the manager out. Reading social media you’d think Barcelona was in a United-like meltdown finishing 6th-7th every year.

Should have been jettisoned after purposefully letting Liverpool beat them last year. On borrowed time. If I was Barca I'd be advocating his instant dismissal

Should go for Klopp now - I think he would be happier there (he seems to shout a lot and be angry at the moment) and also a good fit for Barca
