Good presser! Nothing to criticize.

Rashford or Martial will take the next pen. Obviously.

It’s important he keeps the positivity high and don’t get into meaningless discussions regarding the past. So far so good.

wouldn't be surprise if he's taken Pogba off pens, but kept the discussion behind closed doors

sort of thing Fergie would do, he'd say any old shite in order to not criticise his players in public
I think he'll have spoken to Rashford and Martial about pens. It makes sense for those two to be in competition for leading goal scorer at the club so they should be fighting for every penalty that comes our way. Pogba has no horse in that race so put him on corners or something instead.

Said exactly the right thing about the penalties. Anything else would be a dig at Paul and we can't afford a hit to our spirit right now. He'd be wise to tell them in private that Rashford takes the next couple though.

Oh, how wrong you are. What we needed was some scorched earth. Hopefully next week Ole puts on a fake goatee and spends a good few hours trashing everything from Pogba's aftershave to Greta Thunberg. Only then will we know we've got the right guy.

Hope Rashford and Martial fighting to be top goalscorer doesn't get too sticky where they don't pass to each other when one is in better situation.

We could do with that kind of selfishness in our strikers but I think they're both level headed enough to push each other.

Also, Fergie used to do this with his strikers but he would bet them they couldn't reach a number of goals during the season instead of outscoring someone else.

It annoys me that people use children as to push their politic points. "What monster would argue with a child" etc.

But seriously mate.....

Greta seems like a good kid who means well. And climate change is a real issue. Why the hate?

Some of you amaze me.. And not a good way. You like expect every single of those press conferences that finally Ole turns into full mental Mourinho and blasts at people? Or what's your agenda. Only good news ahead of a gameweek should be the ones we want to hear, not a mental breakdown.

Greta is only a young teenager, has Asperger syndrome and is a political puppet, all arranged by her idiotic mum and political activists. You must search to find a more obvious fake agenda. This has nothing to do with real concerns about the climate. Only sheep’s and blind chickens thinks otherwise.

I don’t hate Greta, she’s a child. I hate her mum and all agenda driven idiots behind this crazy bandwagon. If they truly care about climate then sell their ultra high expensive condos in inner city and move to the country side and start a collective vegan farm for idiots. Then I believe them.

Rashford doesn't need any encouragement to be selfish just look at the state of his free kicks and some of his attempts at goal, if i had one criticism of Rashford it would be he is too selfish.

Maybe not selfish, it is his decision making in the final third that is questionable. If he can improve that, we will see alot more team goals.

Rashford has been surprisingly unselfish this season. Maybe it's the position change because he's now looking to facilitate where he would just shoot from 40 yards last season

He's 21. I've no doubt, given his development so far, that he will improve his decision making.

Some of those free-kicks could start hitting the back of the net before the seasons over. He's obviously banging them in in training or he wouldn't be taking them in matches.

There were a few occasions from last season where his reluctance to pass to a teammate who was in a better goal-scoring position had cost us a goal. Not sure if it's selfishness or bad decision-making on his part - probably a combination of the two.

What do you think he should say?
Something strong. Something that would underline that he is the gaffer! Only then the sofa managers be put to ease. Something like - you’re in good shape! You can run, but you still can’t hide! Or, I’ve told Pogba. I really like you to stay! But I’ve stripped you of all responsibilities. The only thing you are allowed is through balls, and 2,1,2’s each game! That would be the signs of a strong man.

No shocks in that PC.

We’re only 2 games in and he addressed the points well enough and the response was as expected.
We’ll get three points against Palace. They may have pace up front but their talisman doesn’t want to be there

I struggle to understand the vitriol that some folk spout for missing a penalty. All players will miss penalties. As for ‘Social Media’ , I have never used it because I don’t want any Tom, Dick or Harriat knowing about me and my family. It’s bad enough in forums (including this one) from smart-arse know all having a pop which they are entitled to do without being abusive. Worse when it gets racist.

The club is a rolling newsreel with inaccurate rumour and speculation rife and Ole does well to stay calm in here press conferences. He must be bursting to get rid of Sanchez and sort out DeGea and Pogba for this season at least. If DeGea doesn’t sign his contract soon, he should be sold in January and stop pissing the club about. Pogba will be on his bike next season I reckon.

Good post.

5 missed out of 18 is not good enough. He should be off them now, simple as that.
I agree regarding Pogba - but what do you consider a good penalty taker ? I feel a good penalty taker should score more than 80% - a really good one close to 90%

And then you have Le Tissier who missed 1 in 48 or 49 penalties

Pogba has become the new Rooney. Don't the press get bored of asking about the same player. I bet we will hear another Pogba related question after the international break.

Rashford's unblemished record should see him as the club's primary penalty taker. Pogba is far too inconsistent in that area to consider at this point.

I don't see how there is even a debate here.

Good man, he's a gent is our Ole. Reminding everyone that we are a team and that we win and lose together. Happy to see that message strongly reiterated today.

I don’t give a sh1t what he says in pressers. They are stupid things and a waste of time.

What he says and does in private and how the effect the morale and performance of the team is all that matters. Some people hanging on every word/phrase and interpreting this are really wasting their time. Go enjoy the weather it will be minus 3 midwinter before you know it :)

Because Pogba has the confidence, character and the ability to score them.

Having a few penalty takers at the club is definitely not a bad thing and if Rashford, Pogba, Martial, Mata etc are banging them in after training then I can see why you might have a couple of specified pen takers.

Maybe there is a bit of ego massaging here as well, I think Pogba has a fairly similar pen record to Messi who has missed 25 through his career but is still the designated taker for Barca. I think when Neymar was there, they swapped quite reguarly with them both missing occassionally? It's not as rare as people make out.

I would love to see Paul take the next one to be honest, stick it away and then give Rashford the next one to shut a few people up but at the end of the day scoring them is all that matters so I can see why people get frustrated.

The thing I see with Pogba as well is how often he changes his run up and technique etc, he's obviously still practising them and figuring out which works best for him which isn't ideal and leads to inconsistency.

Thanks.

He's very self-aware, is our Ole, and very well trained in the arts of public relations.

He plays his cards close to his chest, consciously avoiding controversy. I like that about him.
The trolls on here just call what you've described as "weak management" and "Ed Puppet" because he's not going full meltdown mode and attacking players/board! 4 points from 2 very difficult games to start the season. Whilst disappointed we didn't beat Wolves still an excellent start!
