Unbelievable stuff.

Out of all our crap defenders we sold Smalling instead of Jones and Rojo.

Well this is a very random one. Wouldn't have expected that one. In an ideal world I would move Rojo or Jones, even Bailly, a longtime before Smalling. But one's injured and I guess no one wants the other two for cost it would take. All four could move on and I wouldn't shed a tear though so I can't say I'm disappointed, I'm just surprised it looks like Smalling is the first out the door.
Nah. Smalling is the best of all of them and not a crock. It's unexpected ut makes sense that he's the one wanted by a big club.

Who would buy either of them? If we're having a fire-sale then Smalling would be first pick of the three. Just be glad one of them has gone.

We could sell Rojo easily if we just lowered our price tag demands. Everton wanted him twice actually. It's the same for Darmian as well, who could have been sold 2 years ago or so.

Smalling is at least a useful squad option ahead of these clowns. One injury to Maguire or Lindelof and we'll be fecked now depending on these players.

Just perhaps, Smalling didn't want to just be a backup that doesn't even make the squad, and asked for the move himself?? He has been 1st choice for a long time, and now he's 4th. Ole hasa said repeatedly that with 7 CBs you can't keep them all happy, seems Chris wasn't happy. Good move for him.

We have players who no-one wants to buy, so loan moves to showcase their talents, and attract potential buyers, while clearing some wages at the same time makes sense.

Possibly Jones is happier being a backup, as he has always rarely played anyway. And he is a better passer, more fitted to our new style.

We tried getting rid of Rojo, seems we would prefer an overseas buyer but none emerged for him in time.

With our deadwood situation we just have to take whatever buyers/loaners we can get.

Glad for Tuanzebe, its a real vote of confidence in him after a great pre-season and loan last season.

Smalling is also one of the clowns.

Why are we loaning all our bench players to Serie A by the way.

If Eric Bailley could stay fit I'd be more optimistic but with Lindelöf looking shakey I would've kept Smalling and given him the chance to win his spot back. Perhaps Smalling is the one pushing for a move.

Oh I get why you'd be going for Smalling as a buying club. I'm just saying from our perspective, ideally we'd get rid of one of the others first as Smalling has the most use.

They need moving on anyway, so it's still a start at least.

This, he's way better than Jones and Rojo. And I find it hard to believe Smalling pushed for this move cos he didn't wanna be back up.

Why is that? Bailly is the worst defender at the club, the further away he is from the team the better.

I wonder if he pushed for a move? He's easily better than Jones, Rojo, Bailly or Darmian. He's worth his weight in gold when we need a pure defender to stop a top striker. Kind of shocked by this on tbh. It's a really poor decision from Ole imo.

He's been injured a lot and never regained his early form when he looked pretty good. I think if he stayed fit he would have improved and cut out the rashness in his game

You can't get rid of players nobody wants, that's the thing.

That said, I wouldn't be selling anyone to Everton, either.

Tuanzebe and Bially as a backup starting line is good if you ask me. Anyone else have an idea how they would play together? If anyone can teach some composure to Bially I think it would be Ole. Then again there’s the Jones who seems would get minutes before both. But Bially and Tuanzebe for Europa league sounds perfect

This just getting weird now.

I remember getting a buzz when LvG shipped a load of players out, but we were getting replacements then, and that ended badly, now they're just leaving, I find the whole thing baffling.

Really odd! I remember when we were playing Small and Jones everyone wanted them out, I do not mind who will go out first I want them all out! Are you sure you are not the agent of him? He's worth his weight in gold? wow, such a defender we lost! people are really odd here!

I think so too, I want to see him alongside Maguire at some point this season.

Tbf we did sign an £80m CB literally this summer, while also returning a promising youngster from his loan.

In an ideal world we'd have kept Smalling and got rid of Rojo and Jones instead, but you have to assume that no one was in for them given:

a) how shit they are
b) their horrendous injury record. And..
c) their salaries and contract lengths

Don't get this. He is better than Jones, Rojo and Bailly. Would have moved all 3 on before Smalling
Even far better than the sudden overrated Lindelof.. Would have had a perfect combo with him and the opulent Maguire, with their heights, aerial threats would be dealt with, just like VVD and Matip... But Lindelof won people's heart with the most foolish reason

Good, he is utter shite.
Just not as shite as Rojo and Bailly.

He’s the best of a bad bunch as back up CBs, obviously we can’t get anyone to take Rojo off of our hands, and Bailly went and got injured so we can’t sell him.

We needed to get rid of at least one CB, so that’s a positive, but there are others who are very lucky to still be at the club.

There's a clear line between optimism and delusion. You left it about 5 light years behind you.

I think Jones is better than Smalling, to be honest.

I'm well aware, but Rojo, & Jones cannot be included, they are both injury prone, and both liabilities, Bailly is currently injured, and I don't think Ole rates him anyway, and Tuanzebe is yet another inexperienced player we will have to rely on, so much as people will mock Smalling, out of the above he has to be third choice.

Mostly pleased with this, although he wouldn't have been my first choice to go (Jones and Rojo would have been, in that order). He's a solid enough defender capable of good performances (see the PSG game for example) and can do well elsewhere. Pleased to see he's trying his luck in Italy too. I wish him well.

He's not third choice though, Tuanzebe is. Jones/Bailly while shit and injury prone are fine as 4th choice.

Man United are very foolish since Ferguson left, we would buy a new player and offload the existing once, not knowing what the spell hold for the incoming player, then the new player will flop start looking for buyer again and a player to buy, Since van Gaal see our deals

Nani was sold for Depay, what happened?
Rafael was sold for Damian, what happened?
Buttner was sold, Shaw hasn't lived up, Chicharito was sold for Falcao what happened?

Now recently, Jose would have even sold martial for Alexis.. Etc Di Maria
I just wonder how some myopic fans get delighted we lose our real Ferguson players who plays with their hearts for these millions shit We might regret Maguire soon just hold.. Smalling is the best united defender argue with your shadows we'll regret this deal again

Precisely, which is why they shouldn't be anywhere near our team.
So we now basically have Tuanzebe, and an injured Bailly as backup, who could well have been sold if he didn't pick up that injury, as I think he's yet another player Ole doesn't rate.

Where's these magic players they're keeping out of the team?
My point exactly. He must've been told that there will only be money for Maguire and AWB, I can't see how he'd be fine with this midfield. Sadly it's possible since he's given new contracts to Mata and Pereira, while Lingard is still a favourite of his.
