Ole isn't up to it, no, but if Jose n LVG can't make.it work then what hope does he have? They are both far superior managers to him.

The problems at the club are from above. The owners who are bleeding us dry and the twat of a CEO.
Love or hate Jose he did say getting 2nd with these players was one of his biggest achievements. I actually believe him. Ole with an even weaker squad than last year really has his work cut out. Ole equaling Moyes 7th place shambles is not out of the question.

He needs a huge upturn in form.

Really? I see a lot of people not wanting Lingard and wanting to buy two different midfielders to form a midfield with Pogba.
He got rid of Smalling, Jones and Ander from the lineup. We have the "ball playing" CB pairing people wanted for years. This is what we get

Here you have, the exact reason why Solskjaer should not be manager.
Cos I’d be happy with Steve Bruce? I don’t think it is mate. Half the players are crap, half are lazy, half think they are far better than they are. Oles not the problem, it’s the utter dross we’ve signed over the last 6 years and inability to ship them all out and replace them

Out of context, this quote doesn't sound particularly good.

But you can, ffs. If you are doing it well, you win games. At least most of them. Or at least after 9 fecking months, you can dominate bottom table teams. Or at least you can show some progress in gamestyle.

Ole is just one nice talker. He talks nice, he smiles, he has "legend" status and he is using that. In any other club he would be sacked after this run of results. Even in bottom table clubs.

He is far too reactive rather than pro active, was bad enough that Mason didn't start but then waiting until the 82nd minute was absolutely ridiculous.

Where 'we need to be' is subjective (and likely idealistic at this point), but in terms of managers that would improve us from Solksjaer...

Rodgers
Nuno
Rafa
Howe

Even duffers like Sean fecking Dyche or Hasenhuttl.

And that's just in the PL.

Throughout all the top leagues in Europe there's obviously about 100 coaches better than Solksjaer - that's why he was sitting at fecking Molde, unwanted by any board (whose jobs it is to scout managerial talent).

It bothers me that someone is sat in the Utd job through nepotism and laziness from the board - it isn't right and it shouldn't be accepted.

Again, that's just my opinion. No disrespect to those who disagree.
Nuno and Howe would be interesting options, even Haselhuttl I really like, but they're probably not available during the season.
In the summer I'd take all of them as it stands though.
Rodgers and Fat Benitez would be alright but I don't want an ex Liverpool manager.
The problem with someone like Howe though is that his CV would definitely be questioned on here.
I think we just need to wait until the end of the season (unless we're actually near relegation) so that the next manager can have a clean swing at the job.
Given we've got rid of a lot of the deadwood it would arguably be a decent time to take the job, provided they're backed in the market.

Polish commentator today mentioned that prior to today's game, ever since becoming a perm with us Ole averages about 1 point per game.

Think that's relegation tier results.

The team is not that good but there are managers that would do better than Ole.

We had two that we have sold because apparently we are happy with our current options and no replacements.
Thats not on Ole, its on the board who refuse to hire a DOF in favour of keeping thier Igor (Woodward) who only care for the bottom line.

In every game since the summer, all of Ole's signings have been the MoM.

Ole identifies targets, he doesn't do the negotiations and has no control over how many players he can get. Took Ed 1 month to lower the price of Mcguire from 85 million to 85 million.

Lukaku couldnt trap cement, he has his qualities but he's not what we need. Alexis has been a catastrophe burning a hole in our wage structure.

Let Ole and his management team identify 3 solid midfield options in Jan or the summer and we'll go from there.

He really needs to be fired. I said before he was made permanent that it would be an error and he would go down the same route as Di Matteo and Shakespeare. He is painfully out of depth (and it’s very enjoyable to watch as an opposition fan). He is incapable of playing anything other than counter football, which just doesn’t work at a top side. He clearly has no real idea how to impact positive and proactive changes on a game to either A) get a goal or B) see out a game. People keep saying the squad is poor etc but it’s nowhere near as poor as his results indicate. A good manager with a progressive style of football would be getting much more out of this team.

Sad statistic that. I hope he turns it around, not just for our sakes as fans but also because - call me a romantic - I'd love to have a likeable long term manager at the club again.

I hope the board are patient given the woefully half-baked backing he had in the summer.

You have to bring new players in. Pep sold a lot but also brought a lot.

You can’t replace senior players with 17 years old for the entire season. Literally no top team does that. Not even Barcelona who have the best academy in the world.
We've replaced James with Sanchez, James already has the same amount of league goals as Sanchez.

Greenwood has a greater upside than Lukaku who simply didn't fit Ole's plans, why bother keeping him?

Herrera wanted to leave, but he was replaced with McTominay who is of the same quality. A squad level player who offers work rate. Is it that big a deal?

Darmian & Valencia are replaced by Dalot and AWB, The latter 2 are infinitely better options going forward.

Smalling wanted 1st team football but we got Maguire.

It's simply going to take time to coach and improve the younger players like Chong, Gomes and Greenwood to step up and improve the overall quality.

We've played 4 games this season. Four!

And that with a new backline and a team in complete rebuild stage...

I say it again. Four!
When you look at our squad, do you genuinely think it has the potential to achieve anything? Not having a go at ole, just interested.

To me it seems like we've done a good job this summer in getting rid of dead wood, but its almost become a bad job because as crap as some of those players were, at least they provided depth and options to the squad. We absolutely should have been prepared to recruit more players. Having attacking options consisting of rashford, martial, lingard, mata, james and greenwood is nowhere near good enough.

I don't expect us to be perfect and fix all our issues in one summer, but realistically we have an incredibly shallow and weak squad. As exciting as greenwood looks, he should be suplementing a top class attack, not thrown on in desperation because everyone else is not up to the task.

City's second string attacking line up is better than our first choice attacking line up, quite comfortably. How that has been allowed to happen is criminal.

With this quality we have I doubt the results would have been any different.
I’d argue any PL manager out there has better tactical nous and better in game management than him. Even Hodgeson beat him at Old Trafford.

As i said; any PL manager would be upgrade. Now you can list them and write your excuses for every of them:
"Not good", "not available", "too defensive", "doesn't know the club"....that is the point of your question, right?
You've quoted me saying doesn't know the club despite me not saying that.
To say a manager isn't available isn't an excuse, it's just a fact.
There are a few managers in the premier league that I like (see my reply above) but that doesn't mean we can get them as of right now.
If they're available (someone like Poch or Nuno inparticular) then yeah go for them, but if they're not available they're not available.
Being arsey and saying I'm being disingenuous when I ask for decent candidates for the job is just childish, and suggests you probably don't actually know very much about which manager to bring in. Otherwise you'd have made a suggestion and we could've had a chat about it like I just did with @Rhyme Animal :)

You say that but Lampard looks to be more tactically adept and he really trust the youngster, compare it with Ole who hype the youngster in press conference but keep playing Lingard, Pereira, and Lindelof
The average age of our starting 11 is the lowest for some time. That s a fact.

They’d have a bounce for a few months then crash, like ole and all the others. The managers are not the problem
The others had actually proven they had quality as a manager. Ole has done nothing.

We need to stick with him.
If he stopped playing shite players and stopped having “favorites”, it could’ve been reasonable. But playing Lingards, Pereiras and Youngs won’t get us very far, so we’d rather get rid of such a blind and stubborn manager (if he doesn’t want to change)

Easy answer: sack him and make him the caretaker manager until a new one is found. Instant profit.

What's with this "worst permanent manager"? They compared every manager only from the period they were ratified? Or just deleted a part of the stats that didn't back the argument?

His press conference has just pissed me off even more.

The fool is sat there grinning ear to ear like we have just bagged a comfortable 3 points.

Unfortunately, the statistics do not lie. However, I would argue that this is no time for buyers remorse.

We knew exactly what we were getting when Ole was appointed. We knew that his only elite level appointment resulted in relegation and sacking at Cardiff. We knew that his greatest success as a manager was in Norway managing the equivalent of a League One side. For that reason I would absolutely back Ole until the end of the season and let him have a free swing at top 4. My measure of Ole's capability will be end of season outcomes ie: top 4. Yes I will hold him accountable for whatever happens between now and then but, like many United fans that I know, I will reserve judgement on him until then.

I think you need to look at what all top teams had in their ranks when doing a rebuild and compare it with our team. We have literally have no options in midfield and attack and rely on teenagers to do the job. As I said I have never seen a top team doing a rebuild like that. Letting 6-7 senior players go and bring in 3 one of who is still in his early 20s.

Of course they are - if Man Utd wanted any of the ones listed, they'd drop their current jobs and come running mate, no doubt. We mustn't forget the fecking size of this club - and the size of the opportunity for those managers.

And at this point I'd gladly take an ex dipper or City manager (forgot to put Pellegrini in initial list, who I'd also gladly have here instead of OGS).

After all, our current manager grew up a Liverpool fan!

Would a world class manager accept going in a long season with a team like that? Pep, Klopp, anyone? You are having a laugh mate.

You are focussing too much on results and making wierd statements. On any other day we should have beaten palace comfortably. So I don't think hodgson or bruce or silva or eddie howe or villa manager or lampard would have done any better. Just because one doesn't rate ole doesn't mean any one under the sun would have done a better job. I myself have criticized ole but I won't make wierd statements that sacking him would make our average players look amazing.

Our average players are still no worse than what Palace, Wolves or Soton have.

Let alone Cardiff, Huddersfield or whoever we played last year during this run.

Do you honestly believe Ole will get a PL job after United?
