This is my first post of the season, as I wanted to give it a few weeks to form a considered opinion. My humble opinion? We are dog shit.
We are lacking experience, quality and character in key areas. The fantastic opening day win against Chelsea has proved a false dawn, and we have since struggled for goals. It looks like we've improved defensively but weakened in midfield and attack. Ole has put his faith in the kids, but some are struggling and there aren't enough experienced players to ease the burden. Pogba clearly doesn't want to be here, leaving us with a talisman in the side. We are devoid of leaders.
I'm seriously worried. We can't expect a group of young lads to cope with the pressure of the current situation. There aren't enough goals in the side, compounded by Rashford's injury today, which, incredibly, means we don't have a fit striker at the club just now. It's looking like another long hard season ahead; West Ham were well worth their win today, and we just don't look threatening. Everything is predictable and lacking creativity.
Top four already looks a pipe dream, and once again we are left wondering how we can fix things. It's been the same story every season bar one (second place under Mourinho) since Fergie retired six years ago. We don't seem to be moving forward. It's a steep learning curve for a number of young players, and my hope is that they will come through this and develop together. There's no other option in the short term.
