Calmed down now. Really frustrating to watch United right now. We’re not a great side, but we’re better than our results suggest. It’s in the key moments that we aren’t delivering. We leak a soft goal or the other side takes a rare chance, and our players fluff their lines. It’s clear we need more creatively, but even so.

Absolutely don’t think Ole is the right man for the job, but he’s got to find a way of getting those players to deliver if he wants to stay here. Right now his goalkeeper is still not what he was and his forwards have no conviction in front of goal.

Lukaku was and is completely ineffective in absence of strong midfield. He would not have changed the result at all.

Midfield is the major problem. Last year's over the hill players are one year older now. Not buying reinforcement in the summer was cardinal crime.

People really cant be deluded and think this is it purely due us lacking Martial and Pogba.
No but with such an amateur as a manager it would help to have someone like Pogba or Martial in there. Guys that can produce moments of magic, properly coached or not.

My main thing with managers is that if their presence is hurting the team, then they shouldnt be there. Some like Pep and Klopp are really capable of making their team play at a really high level, higher then their players would normally do. Some just have their team play at the normal level. I think Ole is at best just the normal level, but that isn't that much of a problem IMO. I dont necessarily think he'll win us the title, but also having him for a bit won't be a bad thing either because I like what he's tried to do with transfers and some of his set up. Of course, we are left woefully short on depth, but it's something that'll take a few windows to sort out. Having him as a stop gap while we slowly build the team with the right players until the right managerial choice comes along is fine with me. Until then, we're fighting for the top 4 but because of the lack of depth, we're reliant on players staying fit which they havent been capable of.

I still like Ole for manager, and I really hope that he succedes..... But damn, I hope his changes show soon and we get a really good long winning run.

These defeats makes me sad.

Agree but certainly not the attacks of West Ham, Palace, Soton and Wolves who like I said we've failed to beat this season. Teams like Bournemouth, Leicester yeah probably.
Over today's 4? I'd take West Ham and Wolves definitely, Zaha is better than any of those 4 as well.

Ye I spotted that as well. Fecking immense right
Could only be improved if right after he said Lindelof can be bullied, a few team mates come over and start taking the piss out of him with Lindelof welling up as the camera pans away.

I just don't know what to do with myself
True. I just feel he should've made a fuss, get a few more faces in, anyone even if it was on loan as they would've been better than what we have. Instead he kept reiterating how happy he was with the squad. Its incredibly frustrating when it's clearly visible to every man and his dog the glaring weaknesses in our squad.

The most important appointment, even moreso than the manager has to be a sporting director next. Woody is not up to it. And please, no more shoehorning ex-players into important roles.
Understand that but you don't know what was said between him and management. Also, as I understand it it's management 101 not to talk down the squad or players publicly. Jose did this and alienated himself from practically everyone. You can bet your dog that Ole knows full well this squad is incomplete, not that this makes him the right choice but yes you're right - all of this is frustrating and at times infuriating.

On the subject of SD, you'll have no argument from me there.

I mean.. having them 2 in for Mata and Matic or Pereira makes a pretty big difference. Our defence wasn't an issue at all today, even though they scored twice (can always happen). So the expectation is that our main attackers playing would give us better output in attack, naturally. Would it still be enough? Who knows, probably enough for top 4 IMO.

He def said something out of order because if that video was longer you would see Ed turning around who was sat in front of him saying something to him.

Listen Phil Jones is Phil Jones.

Watch this and go to 0.57 seconds

Think Ed was talking to the lady next to Jones.

We've scored 16 goals in the last 17 games under Ole. That speaks volumes. Unfortunately, Ole has no idea what he's doing.

We're a couple of bad results away from a full blown

Ole isn't the answer but I don't think anyone is under the current structure at the club. They are all fecking clueless when it comes to football. We've got yank owners who aren't big football people and a CEO who is a sales man and not a football man.

It's a fecking Shambles. Bring on an arab takeover I say. Feck our higher moral grounds to the massive club. We are dieing unless it's sold.

We predictably lacked creativity and mobility in the middle of the park today. Lost count of the times we got james forward, he dragged a couple of players to him, then he turns back looking for support and mata and matic are in our own half still. I question if we were playing these tactics we play mata over gomes. He is mobile at least.
Still a hole at rw and pereira is a square peg in a round hole there. We lack some key personnel really regardless of whos in charge.

Nope, we should do better against the likes of West Ham even with a few injuries. We are poor, lethargic and uninspiring.

Even Villa are giving Arsenal a game (though Arsenal are shite, too). fecking bollocks that we need another £1,000,000,000,000 worth of investment to play some decent level of football.

I think you might be right and with our injuries/lack of squad depth it’s likely to be this month.

Can anyone explain to me on what planet Andreas can play on a wing? Especially in a team that has a very poor understanding of what off the ball movement is. Is not he a midfielder?

7th in the league, I’d say that’s bang on the money for where we’re at this season.

We'll get turned over by the worst Arsenal side of the last decade and that will probably be enough.

I don’t know to be honest. Probably interim until the end of the season. Suspect Solskjaer will be moved upstairs to a DOF position because he’s not done dreadfully in all departments but for some reason either the players can’t grasp what he wants them to do or it’s unclear what he wants from them.

I don’t think he’s the issue personally but we’re at the point again where the manager isn’t getting 100% out of the players.

We still need two summers to address this mess but the board won’t tolerate us languishing at Christmas...
I'm all for the idea of moving Ole into the DoF role, as I genuinely believe he knows what it takes to build a successful football team. But his clear lack of tactical nouse and suspect in-game management are leaving him exposed right now.

He looked utterly clueless sat on the bench this afternoon, no idea how to remedy the problems on the pitch. The same dumbstruck face that Jose wore throughout his final year at the club, and LVG before him. We've reached the stage now where no one looks capable of getting this squad of players to perform to an acceptable standard.

We can sack Ole, sure, but then we're faced with the all too familiar problem of replacing him with a suitable candidate. As to who that might be, I haven't the feintest idea. I genuinely believe you could bring Saint Pep in tomorrow and he couldn't get this squad of primmadonnas performing well.

All those calling for Ole's head, what would you have done differently today? The squad is utterly unbalanced and full of players who won't take the initiative and force something. Our bench had very few options today.

Our summer transfers, while useful, were nowhere near extensive enough. We STILL don't have a DoF to help with recruitment (I don't think they have any intention of getting one).

You could put anyone in charge and they're stuck with the same squad for at least the next 18 months while we gradually get round to renewing the key areas.

I feel exactly the same. I was really down after today. But I’m still behind Ole. I actually felt slightly encouraged by his post match comments - we were really down to the bare bones today and getting a few players back from injury will help a lot.

I’d have planned better in April, May, June for a better transfer window. Selling Lukaku was excellent business, but it was also incredibly naive to not replace him. Lukaku scores in a game like today, he used to get 1-2 goals for fun against mid table teams.

it’s all good and well blaming injuries, but everyone gets injuries, it’s how you cope with injuries, and sadly we don’t cope with injuries well because we didn’t strengthen enough in the summer. That lies with the manager I’m afraid. If you have no confidence in bringing in a striker, you don’t sell your striker.
