Leicester would want silly money for those two, not sure either are good enough to justify the outlay required.

Chilwell and Maddison is the new Baines and Fellaini!

I can see it now, we'll go in with an opening bid of 50m for both.

Well, who can blame him look at threads and posts in this forum.

people talking about Sancho and the like we would be lucky to even speak to him.

How fans think a transfer target list of 4 players can be put together in October when Utd are so sheet is beyond me. You have targets but seriously, from the past years does anyone actually think what the club says will happen?

Are we going to fall for this again?
Some will always fall for it, but it's just so transparent now it's embarrassing.

If the actual plan is to concoct a list of players a 5 year old could have put together, and then tell everyone about it, then we're more knackered than I thought.

It was rumoured to be 5 signings this summer wasn’t it?

M.E.N. also saying this, so a pinch of salt might be required. They obviously didn't watch Longstaff at the weekend.

United eye Dembele and Longstaff - report
United are weighing up a £90million double raid on Newcastle’s Sean Longstaff and Lyon’s Moussa Dembele in January, according to reports.

The Daily Star says Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes the duo would be capable of arresting United’s slump and boosting their top-four hopes.

They may well do, but it will be a buyers market in the sense that Dortmund have publicly acknowledged that he will probably leave next summer, have probably given him the contract on the condition he will leave soon and as such if the buying clubs only want to pay £100m for example that's probably what they'll sell for.

Obviously they'll want an auction of sorts but if United go in as strong as they could do - considering he appears to have been a long term target for us now - then we should be putting together a package that other clubs cannot match.
If we could get him for £100m I think that would be a reasonable fee. I hope that you are right and we put in an offer that other clubs won't be prepared to go as high as.

I think he is going to be hard transfer to attain. Although he might be attracted to the appeal of providing a vital contribution in making us great again :D

I highly doubt Leicester are going to sell us Maddison and Chilwell after selling us Maguire this past summer. I can see one (Maddison though I'm really not sure about him) but not both.

Rice - god no

Sancho - god yes
Let’s just hire L City’s scouts and director of football instead of giving them close to what 200-250 million in 12 months? If it’s a long term fix and all...

Maddison is ok I guess but only Sancho from that list would be a decent upgrade I feel.
Plus Rice and co will cost a fecking fortune.

They have 0 credibility in my book. Regurgitating names that are already out there. The only reliable source i've heard for now talking about winter buys is saying Mandzukic in on. MEN don't even mention that in this article. Total bs imo.

That is a report from the Daily Star which the MEN are using to fill columns.

I've read the article again and realized they say "The MEN can reveal United have provisionally earmarked a full-back, a midfielder, a forward and a striker to reinforce their squad ahead of the 2020-21 campaign." but there is no striker in their list

I knew that, but as other have said it is funny how we always get linked with all these players when we are going through a bad time. I would rather give one of our kids a chance than buy Sean Longstaff and put money in Mike Ashley's pocket.

A midfielder. A right winger.. an attacking player.. (10 or 9) and a backup left back in case Shaw isnt fit enough.

We really need the first 3.. a backup LB.. lets see.. Chilwell wont be backup anyway.

We are talking about one of the most incompetent boards here. Nothing would surprise me.

Shaw isn't good enough. We need an upgrade.

Chelsea will likely use the Hazard money to get Sancho.

Maddison would be a great buy but he'd probably cost more than Maguire did. Rice I really hope we stay clear of and Chillwell would be a good if unspectacular addition, probably not worth what he'd cost.

It would be nice if our amazing scouts actually looked abroad to find the right players.

Maddison and Sancho would be great additions.

Chillwell isn't as good as Shaw.

Rice? God no...

Hopefully, like many of have said, we aren't strictly seeking British talent, and that we're more versatile in the sense of having multiple targets for a position instead of going "well, if we can't get him then we're not buying a CM/RW/etc".

Get Digne from Everton I'm sure he would be cheaper than Chilwell.
He's better, too!

Now, despite being a Shaw fan, he's the type of player I wouldn't mind bringing in at LB. Otherwise, if it's Chillwell, I'd rather stick with Shaw.

Sign Sancho at all costs and I do think we have a good chance of signing him.

Maddison will cost a fortune just like Chilwell & Rice. Dani Olmo could give us what Maddison will for a much cheaper price?? Hakim Ziyech is also another option who is good enough to give us the creativity we're lacking and wouldn't cost a arm and a leg. The cheaper alternatives are there potentially if we decide to open our horizons.

If he stays fit, an upgrade on Shaw will be very low in the list of priorities. There are gaping holes in the squad which need to be filled before we start looking for an upgrade on a decent LB.

Will take a better LB.. sure. But that must be very firmly at the bottom of the list.

I think in some of the cases they are just looking at PL proven, because unfortunately I think we have lost the knack of developing players. There are as you say a lot of cheaper options out there who are just as, if not more talented than this lot.

I like Sancho and Maddison but I'm hoping were not as obsessed with English players as the media likes suggest because that would batshit stupid.
Not to mention will put off the international fanbase. Trump and Boris have got the xenophobia quota covered.

Like the positions, but would prefer a different group. Those are the roles we need filled though. And no ‘Pogba replacement’ with Maddison, we need him to play alongside Pogba. If Pogba is to leave, then we need another. This idea of having only one kid who can play football is silly and dated.

I think next summer is when we will start to feel the struggles of signing top players if our results don’t get us in top 6. Sancho will be a pipe dream. Especially if we finish mid table. However, I’m sure we will offer huge wages and continue doing transfer business the same as recent years.

Yeah I don't really rate Chillwell tbh

Who exactly is targeting them? Considering where we are this season I wouldn’t think Ole’s position is so stable that we should be looking at next year’s transfers already.

Journos basically put two and two together, we signed three British players this year so idea is that we will go for the best available British talent.

IF there was a semblance of truth to it and IF we somehow got all 4, then we shift out Pogba to pay for some off it, and we revert to a standard 4-4-2 for the league with Maddison tucking in behind whoever ends up number 9. Rice the ball winner alongside McTominay b2b?

It’s all bs though, no chance we sign them all.
I do think that they are all good individuals though
Wow, that's depressing. Rice and McTominay as the midfield 2 would be the least creative midfield United has had since O'Shea and Gibson.

Bring Southgate in while you’re at it, Christ.

We need more than 4 next summer.

Was looking at M.E.N. yesterday and I am sure they had an article, probably pilfered from another newspaper, that we should be building out team around Scott McTominay. Fecking what?

Liverpool have a midfield that’s not creative.
Once upon a time we had Keane-ince in midfield. Creativity can come from other positions especially if you have someone like Maddison and Sancho in the side
