Luckhurst is such a cock and showing his agenda. Rashford, a forward is frustrated at not receiving a pass when he makes a forward run and puts it down to “entitlement”.

Third rate journalist, probably bitter he’ll never be offered a job with The Athletic like the adult journalists.
His player ratings are always entertaining. He seems to draw them out of a hat.

Well played and a good win, yes Norwich are going down but you can only beat the team in front of you, it was good to see some attacking with pace and energy, new dawn? I'm not sure still need quality particularly in midfield

So disappointed about the missed penalties.
Who will be taking charge of the next one?!
Why the Rashford one wasn't retaken I'll never know.

City had a missed penalty retaken earlier in the season because the keepers foot was about an inch off the line. Krul was practically a foot off his line when Rashford hit it.

VAR is pointless if not used consistently

Pretty sure they won't have 10 players injured all season...
We had an injury crisis throughout September/October and people were genuinely debating US going down so I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch

It’s how they play that makes me worry for them. We could have scored 6/7 goals easily, you can’t play “you have a go, we’ll have a go” football in the PL

Better than Chelsea at home?
very much so I think.... Chelsea were the better team for the first 60 mins if I remember correctly - kamikaze defending by them as the game went on

scoreline flattered us

today after a busy first 5 from Norwich we controlled the game, smart passing, good movement, created lots of chances and should (not could) have scored 5 excluding the penalties- Norwich of course helped - defending for the Rashford goal for example

we took our foot off the pedal a little but the football in the first half in particular was excellent I thought

Good summary.

Another thing I noted is our energy levels were quite good. Previously against smaller teams we tend to be a little lose but today we were quite solid.

a good left back and a stronger midfielder and we are on to something
Shaw for Young and Pogba for Pereira, and we would be in a very good spot

Great to finally win away (not counting the no-hoper league). Although I'm becoming a little worried by Maguire. McTominay might have given the ball away but Maguire stepped across too close to Lindelof and left acres of space for their striker to continue his run and score. He's made a few poor decisions recently. We need him to sort it out.

Wrong.

The Premier League have stated on a number of occasions that they will not be enforcing the VAR rule that goalkeepers must stay on their line until the penalty has been taken. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spo...remier-league-var-goalkeeping-ruling-16457780

City's missed penalty against West Ham on the opening was retaken because Declan Rice stepped into the penalty area before the ball was kicked and then proceeded to clear the ball once the goalkeeper had saved Aguero's penalty. Hope this helps you out:

A decent result but they almost lost their bottle in the last 10 minutes.
We play subs and almost immediately either go to sleep or make a stupid mistake - no wonder Ole fears making subs.
We can’t miss 2 pens in a game, even against that lot. Martial was too sloppy - that has to be corrected on the training ground.

These last 3 results have bought Ole time and now he needs a run of wins before Xmas.

Decent win, nothing more. Will mean nothing unless we can put together a good run of results.

We've had so many false dawns that Im not even remotely excited. On to the next one.

A very decent performance overall. We were quite good in patches, but inconsistent during all match. Norwich were very shaky defensively, but they paid the price of trying to press high and failed to recover the ball, leaving their defense exposed on direct play.

About the missed PK's: I hope we never go to PK's on Europa League or any cup competition :D

Finally got to watch it.

Correct score again!
Should have won more easily and give way silly goal at the end, I shouldn't have had the correct score.

First half thoroughly enjoyable, look so much better with Martial and Rashford playing together, who hopefully can now develop a great partnership.
Another two penalties missed, four out of seven missed this season.

McTominay very good game, spoilt it a bit with the goal given away at the end.
Other than that the defence not much to do.
Fred had a weird game, sometimes excellent, sometimes so sloppy.

Much better performance overall but we must cut out the sloppiness.

Referee was hopeless and the fans were brilliant.

Good win yesterday.

Thought on Thursday that Partizan might be the turning point in our season. A gritty win away from home in tough circumstances. Let's hope it proves that way.

What’s the rules for keepers when it comes to penalties? I’m sure I read and saw something maybe from the World Cup that they had to wait on the line till the ball is struck. Tim Krul twice off his line yesterday.

Another that you can’t interfere with the goal ie. you can’t jump up and hit the crossbar so that it is shaking/vibrating when the penalty is taken. Again he did that. They were both crap pens but still.

Both pks were soft, there is a highlight package on Millwall v Stoke. Look at that penalty and ask why ours are taken side foot almost, hit the friggin ball properly with a decent run up and there is no reaction time for the keeper if it is within a metre of the post.

Sometimes you just have to shake your head at the so called premier players not being able to do the simple things, again wtf do they practice ever. Certainly not corner kicks or penalties by the look of it at Carrington

Frank De Boer missed 2 penalties in 1 game, in the semi finals of an European Championship. He wasn't exactly a bad player at that moment. It happens. It's a bad streak now, but I wouldn't be too worried.

Just watched the game on the replay and it was a good performance against very poor opposition.
Aston Villa got 5 against this lot so if they hadn't scored a few goals it would have been a poor performance.

Great to see the front three playing well and the link up play between Rashford and Martial was definitely a high point. That last goal was brilliant.
With no proven back-up options, hopefully they both stay fit for the rest of the season.

Pereira was decent again as a number 10 and while not good enough long term he should stay in ahead of Lingard.

McTominay, mistake aside, is improving all the time and Fred was better than usual.

Hopefully, this is the start of a decent run and they can kick on from here with the run of winnable games we have coming up.

Rashford's was a little strange in that he waits for Krul to move and then kicks it at him rather than rolling it to the other side. He'll learn from it though.

We are a good counter attacking team.We saw that on the opening day of the season and we saw it yesterday as well....But when teams drop deep and put 9 men behind the ball, and play with a low defensive block, especially on that huge pitch at Oldtrafford,we tend to struggle. So I”m not going to get over excited by 1 good away performance...

Both penalties weren't the best and Krul picked did well to go the right way but he's still broken the rules by going off his line. Refs should enforce the rule or get it thrown out. They need to be consistent.

Can't imagine Bournemouth will drop deep at home, but we will need to make sure we defend properly. Not sure with Brighton under Graham Potter, in the past they would come to OT and defend for their lives. Will they be the same or have a go?

Weird language and presumption from Luckhurst, this is how th The Athletic describes the same moment

To begin though, he did not have it all his own way. In the 15th minute, he let out a scream of frustration when he had dropped deep to pick the ball off an advancing Harry Maguire, only to be left disappointed. On two occasions Maguire waved Rashford on for a run in behind and instead elected to go simple to Ashley Young on the wing. It looked a repeat of the stultifying football from St James’ Park. But that proved an exception to the rule, which was soon established. Rashford had the beating of Max Aarons down the United left, the understanding with Martial, and the fitness to last the distance.

Our best performance this season by far & it could have been even better. The team was superb & for the first time in months we saw a proper Manchester United performance. Shame about the pens but both were extremely harsh, James went looking for it, again, and the Norwich defender involved in the second pen had no chance of avoiding the ball. Ole has to get it into James skull that diving wont win us or him any friends & will in fact cost us when his diving gets him suspended. McTominay was awesome, the defence sound and Martiall and Rashford showed just how well they play together, they reminded me a bit of Cole and Yorke with their movement and awareness. But this was Norwich, much tougher tests lie in wait but if we can use this game as a springboard we can begin climbing the table and be amongst the top 4 challengers next May.

I get people are happy we won for once, but is this not a little overboard? Maybe standards are just so low now that yesterday is seen as something bigger and better than what it was.

Maybe it was our best performance of the season, seeing as we've looked hopeless nearly every week, I think holding Liverpool to a draw was far more impressive. But a proper Manchester United performance? Give me strength. How are we accepting such mediocrity.

Don't mean to single you out mate, just a general point really.

Good performance and win. Mctom and martial were great. Our squad is so thin that we will need our best 12-13 to stay fit most the season to have a glimmer of hope of getting top 4.

I am not saying they are all going to be first team regulars of course. But I am convinced that 4-5 of these youngsters at least will be good enough to be decent squad-players.
It would be great if they were, perhaps the small squad creates a path to the first team which will inspire them to go above and beyond to make it.

United have players back and they absolutely dominate a game?

*shocked face*
Not in 2nd half particularly initial 20-25min. We were so static and lay back inviting opponent to attack. Defensive OK I can accept that since we have 2 goals lead, but not static when we have the ball. No-body bother to run, doing the LVG passing for the whole 20 min.

It was better, yes, but against a very poor team. The goals were good, especially Martials, the penalty misses were a disappointment but, then again, neither should have been given in the first place.

I’m glad we won but people are going overboard it was Norwich away. We played well first half could of been 5. It’s mad how much we have fallen as years ago this would of been a expected job done now it’s looked at as a big win.

anyway I’m glad we played well for one but it will mean nothing if we don’t beat Bournemouth next week so onto that.
Good to see Martial back

Agree with this. Scotty lost the ball but there was still a lot to do before it became a goal. Defence really buggered it up.

Probably our best performance so far this season but as the old adage goes, it was only Norwich and they were pretty shit, it’s unbelievable to think they beat City.

Martial and Rashford looked really good together and joined by James they look quite frightening when we catch teams on the break, shame about the pen misses, they weren’t the best and while a lot of people are saying how brilliant Krul was and don’t get me wrong he was their best player by far but he was 2-3 yards off his line on both occasions, surely there’s a good reason for VAR right there.

MacT was absolute immense and my MOTM. There was a moment when he headed the play out of defence the charged out like a fecking mad man to put a block in, summed him up.

Great result, let’s hope this is the start of a good run.

Yeah we need to show that we can beat teams that sit deep and put everyone behind the ball. We will definitely be facing that when Brighton & Villa come to Old Trafford before xmas.

Obviously we produced the PSG turnaround but can't think of any other situation of Ole turning a loss into a draw or better still a win.

We've had some games last season when we scored a 2:2 from a corner in the last minute, or won last minute, etc... I know it's easy to forget but I am pretty sure we remember and we used to say, that's Ole's mental strength.

Those two very poor penalties. Make you wonder if they even practice it before. Nice goals though, so it didn't matter on the result. Also feels like DDG could have done better with the goal. The ball was pretty close to him.

a better performance than in ages but let's not pretend Norwich were anything other than total shite. e did at least take chances rom open play - out penalties continue to be utter bollocks. On that front, the first was never a penalty but having been saved, should have been retaken: Krull was a about a mile off his line. the second did look like a handball but Martial's effort was so bad it made rashford's look good. Performance wise, Andreas had a good game (and his corners and re kicks are better than fecking Ashley Young's. I mean he actually got the ball past the first man. James was good and fred looked better than in early games but again, Norwich were terrible
