Shocked by how few people have included players like Charlton, Best, Law, Edwards, Stiles, Stepney, Viollet, Foulkes, Taylor etc.
You're shocked that more posters haven't picked footballers that you need to be at least 50-55 years old to have seen play? Jeez we now have adults on here who were born after Cantona and Schmeichel played ffs.Shocked by how few people have included players like Charlton, Best, Law, Edwards, Stiles, Stepney, Viollet, Foulkes, Taylor etc.
How many games did you see George Best or Sir Bobby play in then? George Best for example didn't play for a decent team after leaving Fulham in 77 and Sir Bobby left United in 73. I'm guessing by your username you were born in 78?Shocked by how few people have included players like Charlton, Best, Law, Edwards, Stiles, Stepney, Viollet, Foulkes, Taylor etc.
Didn’t know that being born when the players were playing was part of the deal. I guess we can do away with the ‘66 WC team when discussing all-time England teams too.How many games did you see George Best or Sir Bobby play in then? That's the issue though isn't. Why pick a player based on reputation or five or six YouTube highlight reels when you've seen the likes of Rio, Irwin, Keane or whoever's play week in week out for years.Didn’t know that being born when the players were playing was part of the deal. Admittedly some of the names I mentioned are on reputation and legend status as servants of the club, but Charlton, Best and Law aren’t obscure figures with no available footage.
Yeah, I guess it may be different if the thread was about top players of all time. I still find it interesting that most players mentioned are Premier League era, but I take your point. That's the issue though isn't. Last post for me today as I’m a newbie!
I guess for 18 year olds, Keane left when they were four. The stat that many 20 year olds were born after Barcelona 1999 isYeah, I guess it may be different if the thread was about top players of all time. The heading does say "your favourite".Shocked by how few people have included players like Charlton, Best, Law, Edwards, Stiles, Stepney, Viollet, Foulkes, Taylor etc.
Same, but I still have Best and Charlton in mine because I love them as players. I've watched a lot of old matches in recent years and they're so good to watch. I especially love watching Charlton play. If I had seen him live, or if I could find more footage of the team from that era, he'd probably replace Scholes as my favourite CM.Schmeichel
Rafa Rio Vidič Evra
Beckham Robson Scholes Giggs
Cantona van Nistelrooy
This will change in a day. So many others though! From the weird ones - Ando & Berbatov (especially now).
Not counting Charlton-Best-Law & Edwards/Byrne/Stiles/Paddy, as I learned about them completely the other way. Love them to bits though, can't watch enough of them.
I wonder what the average Caf member's age is.I guess for 18 year olds, Keane left when they were four. The stat that many 20 year olds were born after Barcelona 1999 is
Quite a spread of ages, but I reckon the highest single cohort is 20-25.I wonder what the average Caf member's age is.
Based on certain threads, it should be close to ten. But seriously - what? Below thirty?
Yeah, that sounds about right.Quite a spread of ages, but I reckon the highest single cohort is 20-25.
