Seeing a lot of these around so figured we could have one for United. A period where the first 4 years couldn't not have been more different to the next 6 years. A decade where we were:
  • Premier League winners (x2)
  • Premier League runners up (x3)
  • FA Cup winners (x1)
  • FA Cup runners up (x1)
  • League Cup winners (x2)
  • Community Shield winners (x4)
  • Europa League winners (x1)
  • Champions League runners up (x1)
Any post Sir Alex players get in for some people? Performances strictly focused on any point between January 2010 - December 2019 (So don't include others who appeared but had their best years before 2010).

For me, I would have:

De Gea
Valencia Smalling Vidic Evra
Carrick Pogba
Nani Rooney Rashford
Van Persie

Honourable mentions to Van Der Sar, Scholes, Giggs, Rafael, Martial and Young.

Whatever the team that last won the league was. Maybe the 2010 cl final team. Everything since 2013 has been different shades of dross by comparison tbh.

Edit: DDG aside obviously. Hes been class. Would probably go fot vds over him, can't quite explain why.

Pretty much this, basically replace the following from the OP:

Ferdinand - Smalling
Rafael - Valencia (I loved Rafael)
Scholes - Pogba
Giggs - Rashford

That team wouldn't have any problems keeping up with the top teams.

No player post Fergie deserves to be anywhere near this bar Valencia because he has been better than Rafael for a longer time, even though Rafael's form in our last league title win was better than any season Valencia put as RB post Fergie, but his peak was for short time and he became too injury prone.

Agreed. The players after Fergie have been woeful really.

I wish this team would only consist of players after SAF left because its been ages since the likes of evra and RVP have been here. Still since it is the decade we have to include players that seemed part of a different era.

DDG
Valencia Smalling Vidic Evra
Carrick Pogba
Mata Rooney(MVP) Martial
RVP
Hounourable mentions would include nani Ibrahimovic, young(strictly based of utility only) and rashford (good academy player who could serve us for the next couple of years).

Zlatan needs to be in the team. He brought a swagger back to the team and demanded people match his arrogance and ambition. He’s the only real leader and winner we’ve had since Fergie left.

'tis a silly place
As a RB, Valencia has longevity over Rafael but not much else. Rafael was very good for a short spell this decade, which I prefer over being distinctly average for 8 years of it, so I'd go with him.

I know this thread is purely based on opinions but what has Di Maria done to be in the team of the decade, if he is in you might as well add Veron and Schweinsteiger to the list, or a more appropriate list of big names that failed in the last decade.

I take it back about adding Verón to the list just checked that he was with us in 2002 (how does time fly) so if Di Maria is in this team of the decade, Veron would have a high chance to being in the previous decade’s team :)

Why so many people put De Gea over Van Der Sar? The only thing De Gea has an edge is reflexes, because in everything else Van der Sar is better. He has better positioning, better anticipation, better handling, etc.

Because De Gea has contributed a lot more than VDS in the last decade?

Bench: van der Sar, Valencia*, Smalling, Scholes**, Giggs, Martial, Ibrahimovic

*probably should be the starting RB for his longevity and service over the decade, but Rafa was better at his peak
**there's really no one else to even make a useful midfield sub

I'm surprised that Nani doesn't make everyone's list. He was one of the best players in the league for 2 of those decade's seasons and without a shadow of any doubt our most threatening winger this decade. The fact that we have to put ageing Scholes & Giggs on the bench and also to include Smalling show how horribly bad we were after Fergie left.

Di Maria???
I just focused more on overall balance of the team and quality of player rather than who was a better player for United, and tbh Di Maria's time at united wasn't that bad, he just couldn't fit into LVG's system.

Based on performances (10 onwards) rather than actual ability I'd go

DDG
Valencia
Vidic
Rio
Evra

Carrick
Herrera
Scholes

Giggs
Rooney
RvP

Outside of DDG, Herrera and Luke Shaw have been our only players to win the SMB award since Fergie retired. Kind of speaks volumes :( Honorable mention to Zlatan. Maybe a shout out for Blind and Smalling from the 15/16 season.

This thread reminded me that we’ve only won the FA Cup once in the last 15 seasons. That said only Chelsea have got to more finals in those years.

This thread makes me sad. There are some reasonable sides above, but our lineup of the decade before that, say 1999-2009 looks utterly insane.

How about:

--------------Van der Saar

G. Neville---Ferdinand---Vidic---Evra

-----------Keane----Scholes

Ronaldo--------Rooney--------Giggs

-------------Van Nistelrooy

The bench is ridiculous:
Schmeichel
Staam
Brown
Beckham
Veron
Cole
