You posted that you disagreed that we should sign a player this month. I’m saying we should .....
No, I said we shouldn’t sign a player out of desperation. We signed Sanchez out of desperation and look how that turned out. If we can wait until the summer and sign the right player then we will be much better off in the long run.

A loan would be a different story. I’d take Can for 4 months.

Bad window to buy. Season isn’t going anywhere regardless. Save the money for the better options available in the summer.

It's down right idiotic if we dont. Ignore the whole "bad time to buy". We need to buy. We are desperately short in midfield as it is, then have big injuries (and alleged injuries), but also the one injury is to Pogba who will be sold anyway either this window or the summer. So we cant ignore signing someone and justify it as not being knee jerk to an injury. We all know hes leaving anytime soon, we all know we need a replacement and depth anyway. Time to fecking pull out the cheque book and spend.

We are using Lingard as a CAM, a player who hasn’t scored or assisted in one year. Are you really telling me we couldn’t sign someone better than him? Or Pereira who couldn’t get game time at Valencia when he was on loan. Or better than Matic who hasn’t played well for 18 months?

Tielemans was available for £40m in the summer. There are the likes of Van Der Beek who can be obtained. Grealish is much better than what we have.

There are plenty of options available. The likes of Matuidi and Eriksen have contracts expiring.
Are these players available in January?

Also, Ole has made it clear that his transfer targets will be long term players. Matuidi and Eriksen, whilst good players, dont exactly scream long term.

Why cant we sign someone now? It's such a bullshit excuse saying it's hard to sign someone in January. It's hard for us to sign anyone ever apparently. If there's players that suit us that we can realistically get in the summer, we can just as well get them now. Plenty of quality players out there. Time for those who get paid a feck ton at the club to prove they're worth the money.

My point is their contract is running out. We don’t want to spend loads of money anymore so why not give someone like Matuidi a 2 year contract on a free transfer.

Every single signing doesn’t have to be long term. He’s a much better DM than anything we have in the squad.

Because the club are giving them what they want. They're backing the manager, and if there's one thing our fanbase loves it's to worship their cult leader.

Nah mate . We go because we love Manchester United. Sometimes I don't want to go because it's so bloody depressing at times but I do .

Yes we want Ole to do well and maybe he won't but the main reason we back Ole is because we can't keep changing managers every season . This January window will show us all if the club really have changed and we now have a plan because if we do not sign players in this window Ole will be gone and we as a club are screwed.

Not because Ole will be gone but because our board will have proven they have no interest in properly backing any manager .

If we really had a plan then we’d have a list of players ready to sign ASAP.

we got rid of Fellaini and Herrera and who’s replaced them? All the talk about pogba being a new signing well thst worked out well. Mctominay is a huge miss.

Their contracts running out but Ole won't buy them if they're not the right fit.

I agree every signing doesnt have to be long term, but i'm going off what Ole has said, who ultimately I can imagine will get the final say regards transfers.

Who’s blaming the fans? Making stuff up.
Because the Glazers lowered the ticket prices back then and that was good enough to buy their loyalty.
In the thread "When will our match going fans finally crack?", a match going fan replied to me that drinking and singing with his buddies meant more than results so there you have it. We have an unambitious fan base and it reflects on the management.
Like I always say, top reds are the ultimate Glazer enablers.
This is blaming the fans. It is dumb. I think the club has been operated abysmally for quite a while, but the idea that any section of the fans is responsible in any capacity is superbly dumb.

I know it is going to be hard to buy this window and the right players might not be available but I think we should try to bring in some players who can help us get top 4. So that we have the attraction of Champions League football. Maybe even get some players in on loan to see us through until the summer. Not sure who though.

Mental. Imagine if real industries worked on that principle.

And the most successful club in the history of european football, pretty much changes managers every season. We need to get over this obsession with managers - just get one who does a job. Then once he stops being effective, feck him off and get a new one.

I dont see the point in wasting money for the sake of it as arguably sloppy transfer buisness is why we are here and doing transfers just because we can. If there isn’t the right player available I don’t see why we should settle. Not to mention it’s extremely hard to bring people in during January and especially people of the quality United would want.

Bringing in say 3 of Olmo, Soumare and Gedson might as Ole says throw off the chemistry of the team even though at times on the pitch that looks non existent.

I don’t understand those saying “if it isn’t the right player let’s just struggle on with our 4 fit players and see how that works out...”

The answer is badly. I understand the January window is hard to do business in, but if you’re us, so is the summer apparently. We’ve got the Euros coming up and we struggled to do 3 deals last year with no distractions. We need bodies, fast. So what if we can’t get our top target for a position? Move on to the second name on the shortlist (I’m going to give Ole some credit and assume we have a shortlist rather than just one name...).

The bottom line is not only do we lack ambition if we fail to address this in January, but it’ll cost Ole his job. Because there’s no way he’s still sat there in August if we don’t.

That isn’t what he was saying. I asked why fans aren’t taking a stand against the Glazers anymore. Matching going fans seem perfectly happy with our current situation and I don’t get it. That isn’t blaming the fans for our demise.

If you buy a player that isn’t the right fit you end up with someone like Sanchez, who ultimately doesn’t benefit the squad and ends up costing a fortune in wages. Let’s say we panic buy Eriksen and can only convince him to join by offering him £250k a week. But we need a midfielder right? Any will do, we’re desperate. Then he ends up playing about as well as Matic last season, and all of a sudden we have an expensive dud on our hands, contracted until 2024 on £250k a week. This is what’s meant by buying a player who’s the right fit and that makes sense.

McT is out for months and Pogba out/gone depending on your interpretation. Fred and Matic is now our default CM partnership.

We don’t get at least 2 CMs we're fecked!

Honestly what self respecting footballer would want to join us in our current state? I'd understand if Poch or Allegri came in; at least they have name value but now?

Financial muscle we have, but spending for the sake of spending is the reason why we're currently where we are.
We ain’t spending for the sake of spending this time though, it’s because we’re in fecking desperate need for players! We’re down to 2 CM‘s and one of them is finished at this level and has barely played all season the others only finally found his feet at club, not to mention the other 2 we’ve let go of and not replaced. Sheer incompetence from the board if we don’t spend this January.

What worries me about Ole, is him saying "we'll have injured players coming back, so should be alright". Has nobody told him injuries are ongoing and there is rarely an injury free period? He won't be sacked mate. He does as he is told and gives out the party line every time there is a window. Fergie did the same with his "no value" but because it was Fergie, he still managed to stay competitive. We needed midfielders before Herrera, Fellaini etc were sold. Not only have we not replaced them but we're about to lose Matic and Pogba. We might bring one in to replace two. Again. The only aim of these fecking leeches is to maximise profits with as little to no expenditure as possible but Jose and LVG were just imagining it.

Obviously we should minimise our risk, I’m not saying we should just go out and sign Thomas Graveson. If you look at my posts you’ll see that I’m dead against signing Eriksen for this very reason.

I’m not saying it’s ok to be haphazardly signing just anyone. But there is a happy medium. I’m assuming for every target we have he represents a profile of the player we want. Sign another player in that profile.

We could get the best midfield players in the world and they would probably make a difference but when it is down to the coaching and tactics too there is not much point in buying so many players now without getting a quality manager who can get the best out of them.

LVG, Jose, Maguire had name value. If we signed Messi he'd end up looking like Lingard. No ambitious, self respecting player or manager in his right mind would join this shambles. No wonder Smalling wants to stay in Italy. Is it any wonder Klopp turned us down? We couldn't even compete with Liverpool several years ago, never mind currently. It's not going to change until we see the back of the fecking leeches that own the club. No wonder time-served reds walked away when they took over. They have made millions out of the club that was previously invested in new players and stadium. Those days are long since gone.

We should definitely buy new players. Regardless if Ole stays or goes, we can't go the whole season with a squad this thin. We need squad depth now, not later, not buying anyone will just be us making it harder for ourselves.

Hypothetically if we manage to get a midfielder right now, and then as the season comes to a close Ole gets the sack, the next manager coming in will have one less issue to worry about.

Or one more issue on top of a £50m full back who's useless in attack & an £80m CB who's too slow for a high line.

Yes I do agree we need new quality players. But we need a quality manager long before we need any new players. This is my point.

The club has already shown multiple times they lack any ambition by having an incompetent ceo run things, having Ole managing this club, not spending much this summer. We are just a bug big club by name because of the work sir alex did . Since 2013 we have been acting like a loud mouth who delivers very little on the field.
Our club revealed its intent to me the summer they chose not to back Mourinho, despite him showing tangible upwards progress.

I knew from that moment that the club is now being managed to Maintain top 4 and CL qualification with the lowest sum of money possible and not winning leagues or trophies. That is our mantra while Glazers remain.

I seriously believe that United will be signing nobody in January. The excuse will be that there is no value in the market. It is also the reason the Ole hasn't been and will not be sacked because if they bring in a new manager they will have to give him the money to bring in players he wants. As for the club lacking ambition, as long as merchandise and match tickets are being sold the board don't care, it's all about the buck with the Glaser's. Hopefully we will start to lose sponsorship deals that's the only way to get this board to sit up and take action

I just don't see any manager pulling of a Matic/Fred midfield, with Lingard or Pereira in front of them. If a new manager comes in this summer, he will have to make 5-6 signings to get us even remotely close to the level we aspire to be at. I do not trust the board to pull of 5-6 signings in a single window.

If we get 2 signings now, and Ole manages to get the best of them (like he managed to make Rashford better, and Fred and McTominay) then the next manager will just have 3-4 signings left to have a complete squad.

I don't know, I just don't see the point of not improving our squad if the possibility should arise.

The clubs showed its lacked ambition for years now...starting way back when we sold one of the best players in the world and replaced him with fecking Gabriel Obertan and a crocked past it Michael Owen!

Are we still on this? He out spent every non-oil club. Even moreso we are now seeing Maguire really wasn't much of a smalling replacement. That toxic parasite was backed.

I disagree actually.

Our transfer strategy so far is half the reason we are in this mess. Forcing through a transfer at all costs this month will do absolutely nothing to help our situation in the long run. It's vital we sign the right players of the right quality. Panicking and spaffing a load on a player because they are available is a bad idea, as is paying over the odds or offering a huge contract to make a move happen.
We needed the same players that we did in the summer as we do now. I cannot get my head around how we have not identified the midfielders we are craving and aggressively pursued deals for them. It’s not like we suddenly have a short term crisis in one position due to injury. We will be here next summer too and see Sancho and all the midfielders we desire go elsewhere.

You mean in the past 6 months they couldn't have found any midfielder that could be available in Jan which would suit us?

I call that poor scouting as our midfield is a shambles

There is absolutely nothing about the club that shows ambition now.
