By the looks of it, people are so excited. Understand we are desperate but point is he have had a very weird career. We are not signing a young player to give him enough time. He is expected to make an immediate impact .

Also, he is a pure goal scoring attacker. He is average in any other position.

Also, dont get deceived by numbers he did in that league. Dost is a regular scorer in that league.

How many attacking players has come from that league and made an instant impact ? That being said, he is the best we can get in January. Hope he is a huge success here.

Where the grass is greener.
The standard of Portuguese defences and keepers looks so shocking in every compilation video I ever watch

He'd obviously be a massive improvement on what we have, but yeah I'd be gutted if it meant we didn't make moves for Grealish/Maddison in the summer.

But we need to have a better squad, so it would be a more than welcomed addition.

What's changed between now and summer?

We were seriously sill assessing Lingard in the role?
I guess Pogba / Mata / Lingard (and sometimes James) in that role was the plan, with Pogba rotating between #8 and #10 depending on what the game called for. Don't think we expected Pogba to be out for this long.

Also CM depth is kind of shit, that was a huge miss on our part to not sign anyone else after Herrera left. Imagine if Fred continued last season's form *shudders*

We really need upgrades on these positions in the summer if this club is serious.

Call me a negative Nancy but I'm not really excited by this. Hopefully the lad will prove me wrong.

Sounds like a panic buy to me, in the summer the club seemed adamant they weren't interested.

Interesting observation. Ole already turned his nose up at him over the summer. You'd wonder has dialogue opened already with Poch, behind the scenes in some form or another, with a view to taking over in the summer.
This is the first thing that came to my mind as well. Probably is just a coincidence though, but then again, we did sign Maguire after vetoing the deal for Jose.

The Maguire deal occupied the whole transfer team, we probably didn't have the time to finish it off. I am not even joking
No doubt we'll spend the rest of the window getting this deal done leaving no time to sign anyone else (VDB).

So, in this thread, we've witnessed at least 15 caftards having declared their penises erect. 15 solid erections inside a single day of posting.

Yes, that happened.

We have an injury depleted midfield. It’s January. Anyone we sign will be deemed a panic buy.

Latest from A Balla:

Em Manchester já estão antecipando festas. Na internet, as pessoas lentas repetem a frase “Hora da remoção do meu pênis!” Isso significa que estão felizes.

Duncan Castles in his podcast mentioned that United wanted SCP to keep them informed of a rival bid in the summer. The reason we didn't move for him at the time was due to the uncertainty surrounding Pogba according to Castles and maybe uncertainty surrounding Lukaku.

I think if Pogba had departed they probably would've prioritised a controlling midfield player. But right now, I believe Pogba and Fernandes will play advanced roles, especially against the so called lesser teams. So it would be nice to sign a top DM to give both a solid platform.

Think the issue was the price, and his passing percentage. We wouldn't have watched him so many times if we weren't interested. The biggest question mark is whether he can adapt to the pace of the league, but with his sweet strike I am expecting goals for sure.

What changed since Summer?

a) Raised £75m for sale of Lukaku and frees up additional £200K in wages

b) Likelihood Pogba will not be at club next season/play much until the end of the season

c) Terrible form of Lingard and Mata conforming they’re not even capable of being squad players

All of that being said, something doesn’t add up with Fernandes. Why aren’t better teams than us interested and why is still playing in the Portuguese league at 25 if he’s THAT good?

He probably isn't that good but I don't really care. We need decent bodies. Even one is better then none

You don’t care because you have a thirst for transfers. You will care when he joins and is not that good.

Joao Moutinho played in Portugal until he was 27 and at 33 he is still good enough to walk into our first team, rumours incluiding many of him coming to Utd circled each window but nothing ever came, I guess sometimes many factors collide and things just don't happen, especially if a player is content where they are.
