We don't need him. We have a youth team (and first team) full of talented youngsters. Best bunch for years actually. It's the first team seniors that are a joke. How can you not see this?
Does that mean we should stop looking for young players?

Clearly not, but I think we'd all rather the 30m was put towards a player that could help us NOW.

That money could get us a Cavani / Piatek in the short term, is Bellingham going to be ready to play CM for us now? probably not.

He must be a hell of a player for those prices at 16. Might get 15 years out of him too.

They're not mutually exclusive? As stated many times, if the fee is 30m, there is absolutely zero chance it's all up front.

well you are assuming that age is what makes a player good. Youre also assuming that we are signing him to play academy football, which i doubt when we’ve sent the assistant manager to scout him and offering a world record fee for a player of that age. I hate this term ‘senior player’. Most of our poor senior players were just never good enough or have declined. We aren’t in a postion to sign players for ‘right here and now’. Thats why we’ve wasted so much money by signing the likes of Matic and Sanchez. Somehow, some fans still delusionally think that we are a Bruno Fernandes and Edison Cavani from huge things.

Speak for yourself, I’ve written off this season and I think we all should. It’s embarassing but we need to seriously plan for next season at this point and admit we’re not even gonna make top 7 without Rashford.

Recruiting for the future is massively important to us, we can’t be signing short term players on big wages who are still a risk.

Perhaps so - but you can see why people are getting frustrated over it with the Fernandes deal hanging for a few quid.

I don't really think it's completely dead yet, Chelsea are struggling and Wolves/Sheffield won't over take us quickly. Tottenham are the main threat but even they aren't exactly flying either.

With a few new faces and a couple of wins we could be right there again.

Can you explain how signing a player from a poorer league than the premier league who only Scores one goal every 3 games even in that league, or signing a declining player who doesnt fit our style of play helps us? Baffling comment

Because we need players NOW and they're the only ones available. You think Martial is going to stay fit and in form all season? you think Greenwood is ready to lead the line for us in all competitions?

People need to be realistic, somebody like Cavani is head and shoulders better than what we have right now.

I’m all for signing top young talent and I’ve heard from a Birmingham City fan all season how good this guy is, get him now and loan him back till the summer in my opinion.

Yeah, I see the frustration, but I don't think that means we should just pay anything. Decisions made in panic or frustration rarely turn out well.

Be better off staying there for 2 years and then join a stable club in the PL.
We’re hardly unstable. We’ve made some poor transfer decisions and signed some lesser quality players. It doesn’t mean we forsake going after young talent.

Some stupid comments in here really !

And the few new faces bit is the problem. Ed wants to keep wages to a minimum this year for whatever reason. We should have let De Gea's contract run down at this point though if that's the plan, lad's earning £20m a year FFS.

Okay, So buy any old s*** just like the last few years. I’d consider Higuain and Falcao similar players, how did their twilight PL moves work out? Out of interest, say we signed Piatek, where do you think we’d finish in the league and cups? Your answer is required so i can do a delusional-ometer reading on you

No but are we less of an attractive proposition than we were a few years ago? Yes. How can you think we aren't unstable at the moment?

Hate to have to point it out, but you cant loan out players under 17. They dont have pro contracts and are scholars. FL rules

I doubt if a 16 year old playing in the lower reaches of the Championship views Utd an an ‘unattractive proposition.’ He’s an upcoming talent not a Ballon D’Or nominee.

We have some ongoing issues with recruitment. We all know that. It hardly equates to the club bring unstable.
We’re not financially unstable, as a brand we’re still among the world leaders.

Can you actually converse with people without being an asshole? that might help get an answer you like.

I'd say we have more chance with a striker that actually knows what they're doing in the box, Martial isn't interested in scoring "proper" striker goals like tap ins or close range headers.

James is looking pretty poor recently also, he's struggling I'd push Martial left again and have a proper CF.

Where will we finish? it's impossible to say but if we don't sign anybody you can guarantee we will be worse off. Cavani would be a small risk, Piatek is also available for about the same we are spending on Jude Bellingham.

It needs to be looked at long term or else why have a Youth set up? We need players to fit in now and ones for the future. What’s wring with that?

Well just dont see where the vague and general points are going. we’ll finish where we’ll finish. Nowhere near the top. No point spending 30m on a garbage striker who we will be stuck with for however many years on significant wages. Watch Jude Bellingham on youtube. We dont have a player like him in the first team, bear in mind those are experienced championship players he’s playing against and that he will likely get significantly better. Our fans need to think about a few years time - we have players like Henderson, Axel, williams, mctominay, Rashford, Martial, James, Greenwood. We should add to that pile. If we keep giving them the minutes and development and add the likes of bellingham we could have a real team. Or we can try and sign Cavani and Piatek and just stay stalled where we are. We are nowhere near the best teams in the league. We could sign Piatek Fernandes and Cavani and i honestly doubt we’d get top 4 this year or next. Its not a case of signing two top players a year like it is for Liverpool and Man City at the moment. We wont spend our way out of this. Unless this window we go and sign Koulibaly, Sancho, Havertz, Werner, Fernandes, Sancho and probably a new keeper. Granted, i’ve done it on FIFA, but in real terms we’d be looking at a billion in terms of fees, wages, agents costs. Thats even if any of them wanted to join.

Hey Jude,
Don’t pass it back,
Take the ball and,
Be a goal getter,
Remember,
We’re looking for a win,
Then we can start,
To make it better

I've never seen him play. 30 million is a massive amount for a 16 year old, even in today's crazy market. Then again, we paid that for an 18 year old Rooney seventeen years ago, and that turned out rather well. Another watch this space and see if he signs I suppose.

But still more attractive than feckin Birmingham. Have you been there? It’s feckin dire. His club are in serious financial trouble, that’s why they’re open to selling him. But yeah he’d be mad to leave as it’s all wonderful

Jude Bellingham, does anyone else get immediate flashes to that old Footballers Wives TV show with a name like that?

Yes, I admit I watched that show, blame my GF of the time.
