Give myself a pay rise and tell the fans to give me 4 years because that's how long its took for Klopp to turn Liverpool into what United used to be.

I would sack Ole, put Lingard and Lindelof on transfer list, do maximum possible to bring at least one striker even on loan (but better two), then I would start looking for CDM player and RW at top level.

I would start looking for players with more qualities than that they can can run (like James, Lingard, Pereira, McTominay), definitely hard working players but with brain and quality with the ball. We would go with 4/3/3 or 4/4/1 with just one defenisce midfielder and five ofensive players with different qualities. I would go for Bruno, but not for 60 mil. pounds.

I would look at it with 2 views
First Now till the enbd of the season and then long term
First what now. Let us assume we get everyone fit and we can buy 1 player at a reasonable price
I would buy Ziyech. Ajax are no longer in the CL and have promise that he can leave at a reasonable price
I would adopt different approches for home and away games
First home
Teams defend in mass against us and catch us on the break
Team
de Gea
Laird Maguire Shaw Williams
Fred Mac
Pogba
Ziyech Martial Rashford

Subs Gomes Garner Jmaes

Away

de Gea

AWB Maguire Shaw Williams
Fred Mac
Pogba
James Ziyech Rashford

We need solidity in defense
For the counter we need the speed of James

Long term
I have never been a fan of Maguire. He is an 80M carthorse. We luckily have a a gem in Mengi. Keep Maguire till he is ready
Mejbri could eventually replace Pogba. We need an attacking right sided player and a box to box midfielder with good defensive skills. I dont believe in a pure DM
We have never used one before and I dont see the need

I would also make sure the following never played again for United
Jones
Lingaard
Pereira
Chong
Rojo

I also believe that Shaw's best position is LCB.

Feud with Woodward.

Sign a LB, CDM, CAM and CF.

Sell Shaw, Jones, Lingard and Mata

Sack myself and appoint Ole as Director of Football just to allow everyone to save face aslong as he hires Pochettino as Manager.

Pochettino with the current squad plus 4 new signings will guarantee top 4 and potentially challenge for the league.

Simple.

First I would go to the medical/physio department and find out why we have so many injuries. If they can’t tell me, hire someone that can and do whatever it costs to sort that out.

Next up the data science team.

Go find out what our scouts do and fire our negotiation team. Get some new ones in.

Find out what coaching support Ole is getting. Hire and fire accordingly.

Start advertising Jones and Lingard. Melt down the new Lingard statue the previous DoF put up.

Worth a try in that position, as Lindeloff/Maguire partnership looks flawed.

I'd wing it for as long as possible to make bank. I'd do wild, extreme and delusional shit like approach Pep and Klopp, just to look like I am busy. I'd be at the training ground any day I can so see what the hell is going on there but also as I get to meet Man Utd players. I'd dance with Pogba and let him post it on the gram. I'd tap up Traore and Neves for next season. I'd use my connections to get at Jadon Sancho and bond with him over out South London roots. I'd be loud, brash and trash talkin, you'd always see me in the media firing shots at our enemies in football including pundits and ex players. It would be a movie
Brilliant! I especially enjoyed the Pogba bit.

Reset the wage bill.
Restructure the academy and swell it with players to commoditise it for future use.
Fix scouting network to only focus on the best 18/24 year old players with potential for growth into world class players.

It would get a lot of social media clicks, and sponsors like that. I’m thinking in terms of what my employers are after.
I am afraid sponsors might not want their brand associated with the worst attacking player in United over the last 20 years or more. He has broken the wrong kind of records.

Invest £100m per year in the youth system and scouting network instead of lining the pockets of agents for a couple of high profile transfers which seem to be ineffective anyhow.

Advantages
Better for the community, with more club interaction in the region
Successful players from the system are more likely to be loyal to the club
Lower acquisition costs for player
Fewer interactions with leeches agents trying to line their pockets when bringing players to us

Disadvantages
Mid table existence for 10 years
Fans want short term success, you may not last to see the fruits of your labour

Punch Ed Woodward, Joel Glazer and Avram Glazer in their faces. Resign. Take the first available flight to a non extradition country.

I know, but he has enough experience as CEO, football know-how, and United DNA in him to be able to do the job.

I would fire Ole and hire a female coach, to cause shock and diverge media's attention to some parallel debate, giving me time to think what to do, because i have no idea.

Find out what in the name of feck is going on. Exactly what kind of funding there is for transfers, Ole's plan and how hamstrung he considers himself currently. Everything else would be based on that.

Try an blag 6 months to earn a couple million quid then resign, citing the fact that I am completely unqualified for the job.

Then I'd probably spend a couple of weeks in Mexico with the mrs. Get into property maybe.

VDS is already the CEO of Ajax. Why would he take a director of football role at another club? If we hired VDS it would be to replace Woodward and that probably won't be happening in our lifetime.
The hope is that we could get VDS in to do the football side and leave Ed to do the sponsorship deals with combine harvester partners

Good post. Something strange is going on with the amount of injuries this season. Ole claimed we were going to have the fittest squad in the league and then this is the end result? Someone or something is to blame and it needs sorting out. (Personally, I think the players trained too hard over the summer to be in peak fitness for August and started to burn out).

Same with transfer negotiations. We identified Haaland as a prime target and the deal fell through. Meanwhile he goes to Dortmund for €20m? Same with Fernandes. We’re willing to let him go over a few million euros? Something is wrong there too.

The only thing I would add is that I would sort the Pogba saga out once and for all. Either get him a new deal, or sell him for a kings ransom and be done with it.

Spend nothing until the summer, then sack Ole, hire Pochettino (if he'll come), give him total control over which players are bought or sold within whatever budget limits are set … then resign because there's nothing else that needs doing.

Where's my arc, Paulie?
I think it really depends on whether or not Woodward is part of our future moving forward. Because it is easy to appoint someone for the sake of it and have him toe the line in accordance with the owners or CEO. I don't think we should appointment anyone if Woodward is going to remain as CEO. I'd rather he gets sacked and the club starts afresh with a new management team in place. Even if we appoint someone, Ole will need someone whom he can trust and that automatically means Woodward will eventually oppose him.

Because United are about 30 times the size of Ajax?

It is blind hope with no basis in the reality of what is happening with the club at the moment. I get that it is a hope, but Woodward hasn't given any sign at all of any inch of the structure of the club moving from a higher up corporate level. We've seen a stream of internal decisions that have galvanised this strategy. PR hires, endless leaking to the media, zero mid term strategy on managers and recruitment and pretty much separating out the academy restructure and promoting an internal hire without any actual resources to make structural change.

Because United are about 30 times the size of Ajax?
It's a lesser business role compared to the CEO, let alone that of your home town club. It would be like pursuing Bruno and then tabling a contract making him the kit man at United. You wouldn't just yell "United are about 30 times the size of Ajax! WHY ISNT HE SIGNING."

Not my hope.... other people's.

I don't think VDS would leave and I don't think Ed would dilute his role.
