Spurs bid was last summer!! You can’t use that as an excuse saying that Sporting will want the same fees 5-6 months later (now) as how much they would accept in the last summer. Do you not think Sporting Lisbon would like to increase their fees because it’s January transfer? Do you not think that by increasing it to 80m euro, it could be their strategy to push the buyer to get closed to their original aim which was 65m or 70m euro?

To put it in perspective the transfer record in the danish league is around 10 million pounds. So if Sporting are in financial problems 5 million could mean a lot to them. They might never get another Fernandes deal again.

Clubs had done this type of strategy before. They know if they told the club that they want 80m means you just need to increase the price to get closer to it. This happened last summer when we bid 70m on Maguire, the news said Leicester rejected the offer because they wanted 90m and we increased it to 80 and it’s all wrapped up.
