No, no. I knew that. I've probably just read them write it when drugged and assumed they wanted to say reliable. It's why I figured it was time to ask someone if it was a shortening.
Oh I see

Great post

The post highlights perfectly why this is very much a signing needed at the present moment. Just raising the standard slightly would be ideal over the next few seasons. This is exactly how City and Chelsea did the business when coming into money. I still think we're not far off being a permanent fixture to be in the Champions League. I am positive had Martial been fit earlier in the season and Pogba available we'd have at least 10 extra points.
You would like to think all the players ahead of him will want to make more off the ball runs now and that whoever is at #9 will drive into the box sniffing for rebounds and keeper spills; fullbacks can also now (assuming he's ours) can also make basic square balls threatening if he's running onto them to take a crack at goal.

The midfielders behind him should also find themselves in more space as a #10 who looks to shoot, and thus needs closing down ASAP will draw attention and take it away from them i.e. him being marked or paid close attention to makes other passes to then available men easier.

These are all really basic things we have been bereft of without a functional #10 in the system we're playing which should now come back to life. If he settles well, there is potential for an uplift even before the actual 1st xi players get back.

Reason to be optimistic even off the back of a single signing, if he is up to par.

The doubts in this line is the basis for what you mentioned in your opening statement.
Right but it's a risk with every single signing regardless of price is it not? Whether or not they will live up to how they've played before, you can't really judge a price on that, the only way it can be judged really is apparent ability vs how the market is, and for a player of his ability it was ridiculously cheap when you consider other players that have gone for far higher prices

Crazy how the dynamics can change with a signing and a couple of returns from injury. We go from Matić, Pereira and Lingard to Fred, Pogba and B.Fernandes it’s like a different team.
Too late for 4th this season I’d imagine

Aye nothing I hate more than when we sign players who will improve us.
Yeah, nothing to base it on. Except every Portuguese outlet and English outlet, and extremely liable sources like the BBC, Stone, Peach, Romano all reporting it. It's all hot air!
It's the same people who've been saying deal done all month. I'll believe it when he's wearing/holding up the shirt.

You don't rate him?
I've not seen enough of him to rate him, much like most on here. I watched him against Arsenal and have watched some "highlights" of him and I'm not overwhelmed or massively convinced that his stats will translate into the Prem all that well. That being said, if we do sign him, I'm not going to be waiting for an "I told you so" moment and I genuinely hope he's a massive success for us.

Nah, not really. I could show you YouTube compilations of people I know that by this metric would make them worth at least £20m.

Every transfer has risk, and the risk varies in degree. Bruno Fernandes is higher risk if the expectation is for him to be one of the PL and Europe’s best midfield players. This new bar that transfer muppets have set of ‘better than Lingard and Pereira’ is not one that is generally recognised and respected in the world of football.

For is to keep up with the company we want to be in, we need to stop hiding from the fact that the bar is probably somewhere between De Bruyne/Pogba and Christian Eriksen. That’s the reality, less than that, you start drifting into ‘well he’s better than x’, with ‘x’ being a shite footballer who 8s/10s don’t set as a measure of what they want to reach.

Based on what?
My general pessimism for this team and current injuries. Too long until Rashford is fit again, and even if Bruno hits the ground running those goals are sorely missed.

Even if we get a striker in as well, I dont think it will be of a quality to instantly improve our output , especially since its supposedly a backup to Martial.

Just dont want to get my hopes again and again after that dreadful Burnley game.

To be fair the bar is very low. We will se whether he is a £50m improvement over these or is like Maguire.
Maguire was bought to improve upon a player who would most likely start for almost all other premier league teams while Bruno is improving upon players who would struggle to get into any premier league team.

This position needed an improvement much more than the centre back position so i dont think there is any comparison between the Maguire and Bruno transfer.

I feel like we’re paying too much (again).

Can we finally get some luck with a signing, please god?
£46.6m (€55m) + £10m in add-ons (some add-ons being winning CL/PL & winning Ballon D'or). Think that's a good deal for potentially one of the best CAM's/CM's in Europe in the near future.

Finally!I”ve heard a lot of great stuff about this lad and Ofcourse his goal scoring record is phenomenal for an attacking midfielder.Hopefully he will provide us with some much needed guile and creativity in the middle of the park...Hopefully he”ll be able to hit the ground running...

Can’t believe this is finally going to happen. Would be great if Pogba staid as I think those 2 + Fred would be a strong and mobile midfield 3.

I'm optimistic for top4 now.

How many times could Andreas have won us games with a goal or assist this season. Surely Bruno is a vast improvement in that position.

Chelsea play Leicester this weekend - if Leicester win we're 3 points behind them again (if we beat Wolves)
I think this team finally broke me. I used to think like this but every single time this team has the chance to capitalize on the competition losing they fail.

That home loss against Burnley... :(

All this "Tier 1, Tier 2" stuff is one of the worst things to have ever happened to the Caf and I include all the times Weaste posted pictures of himself in a frock.
Thats debatable. I am still trying to bleach my eyes from that imagery.

No it isn’t. Clearly you’re just whining for the sake of it. Show me where Peach, Stone and Romano have been saying ‘deal done’ all month.
