Great post
The post highlights perfectly why this is very much a signing needed at the present moment. Just raising the standard slightly would be ideal over the next few seasons. This is exactly how City and Chelsea did the business when coming into money. I still think we're not far off being a permanent fixture to be in the Champions League. I am positive had Martial been fit earlier in the season and Pogba available we'd have at least 10 extra points.
You would like to think all the players ahead of him will want to make more off the ball runs now and that whoever is at #9 will drive into the box sniffing for rebounds and keeper spills; fullbacks can also now (assuming he's ours) can also make basic square balls threatening if he's running onto them to take a crack at goal.
The midfielders behind him should also find themselves in more space as a #10 who looks to shoot, and thus needs closing down ASAP will draw attention and take it away from them i.e. him being marked or paid close attention to makes other passes to then available men easier.
These are all really basic things we have been bereft of without a functional #10 in the system we're playing which should now come back to life. If he settles well, there is potential for an uplift even before the actual 1st xi players get back.
Reason to be optimistic even off the back of a single signing, if he is up to par.
