I don’t think anyone is Lazy
Man City are a good side and don’t give strikers a lot of chances

Martial has been horrendous. Another game when we need him the most and he goes hiding. Pull up your socks and lead the attack ffs.

I'd put Dalot for AWB and Mata for Lingard in the second half.

    • Lingard off at half time for anyone please. Even Jones in the 10 role would be better.
    • Hold tight for the next 20 and then bring James on to have a good run at their tired and nervous defenders.
    • Nick a second and then bring Romero on just before penalties.
    • Keep Martial on because he's been so bloody bad, sods law says he'll score a belter.

Fecking hell can you imagine the vitriol on here if Lingard misses a pen
    6 words....."She Can'ee take the Strain Capt'n!" :nono:

Don't trust our players to score them, or our keeper to save them!
Exactly! Almost every time we get a pen, I can't watch, just this sinking feeling whoever is on it will miss! Not one of our players give me the confidence that its a certain goal.

Don't get me started on De Gea's saving, or lack thereof! What is it? Few years since his singular save against Baines! Ffs.

Unbelievable how the city player didn't get booked for taking out Lingard just before the goal. That's an instant booking for us.

Don't understand why Greenwood started. James is a much bigger threat the way we're playing, and also way better defensively.
James is tired + he's not good when the opposition defends deep minding his pace. Greenwood only needs a chance. And then, we can put James, I think City would then be forced to play a bit more.

Today my focus is solely on the score...and we'd all have taken 1-0 at HT.

Hold it together at the back, and hope for set pieces. It's all we have against these.

We are outplaying them, composed passing. Martial is lazy and sulking, again. We need a new striker regardless Rashford injury

Got to give credit to our midfielders though. Matic has been a giant and Fred has done very well.
City has maybe the best attacking midfield in the world and we have stopped them for most of the half.
As soon as they have got time though they have played past our defense with killer passes and movement.

    Thoughts so far (half -time)
    • De Gea has been super human, at least 3 goal saving interventions
    • Fred has been amazing, everything good goes through him. Tenacious in the tackle and good at recycling
    • Matic, see Fred + goal
    • Maguire assured performance
    • Lindelof is a gormless little feck; such an insecure player
    • AWB is an amazing athlete, physical, tackling, running. All he need to do is learn how to play the ball
    • Luke Shaw is a sack of potatoes
    • Martial anonymous
    • Lingard has not done one good thing with the ball
    • Greenwood, has he been playing?
    • Williams [EDIT] great so far

Exactly what Ole would have wanted. Keep it nice and tight and try and nick a goal. Rode our luck a few times but that's needed.

Expect the same in the second half.

    Fantastic goal by Matic!

I'd put Jones in as centre forward, just to feck with them.

At this point I would take off Martial and Lingard. Both have done nothing. Mind you, in defense to Lingard, at least he's buzzing around. Martial is just standing there. No anticipation and no runs. He is reactive rather than proactive. And I have a better first touch than Lingard and I have the first touch of a sledge hammer...

1-0 up away at City and there’s so much room for improvement. Lingard and Fred delivering 3/10 performances right now. My God, I can’t wait to see Bruno on the ball in the positions Lingard has been: so, so wasteful. Fred’s biggest improvement has been in games where we need him to combative, but he’s second best to everything right now.

Impossible to give Greenwood a score as he’s been utterly anonymous. Nothing good from him and he’s just not been in the game. Ole will have a dilemma as to when to sub him. He’ll want him to be on in case he gets a chance late on, but we’re playing with ten men currently.

Not quite sure how we're leading, but feck it I'll take it. Great strike for the goal too. We've sustained a lot of pressure from them so far and we really have De Gea to thank for keeping us in the game. He and Fred are probably our best players so far. Lindelof doing his best to cost us the game there at the end of the half.

DDG apparently should have kicked according to the commentator (Neville?), don't think it was possible, he was already stretching to reach it.
I could see what Neville meant on the replay, it looked like De Gea sort of ran out towards the ball then decided NOT to kick it and to block it or something. It was weird

City never defends deep, they're wide open if we manage to beat the first line of press. And, he was excellent at the Etihad in the league. These are the matches he should be playing.

Agree although Lingard won the freekick for the goal. So that should count as one assist for him ;).
Shaw has not been that bad.

Lindelöf was fine before his stupid pass in the end.

I think I'd sub out Lingard for James. Maybe his pace through the middle might cause some problems.

But any of the front 3 could be subbed out. They were all awful.

It is amazing what a good signing does to a group. Shame it hasnt rubbed off on Lingard and Martial who have been diabolical.

The amount of times Lingard keeps letting the counter down is actually atrocious. Twice in the space of 5 minutes he over hit his attempt at controlling the ball. Can't wait to see what an actualy class 10 will bring to this team.

Regarding the game, solid defensively and once again if it ain't Lingard it is one of City's b1tch tactical fouls that are breaking our play up. Keep the same then get Mata on for Lingard around 65th mark and grab the second and third. There for the taking.

Still have a slim hope in this tie. Weathered the small storm thanks to a few classic DeGea saves. City were poor on the set piece that led to the goal but a fine strike by Matic.

Regardless what happens, United have shown plenty of passion and effort in the 2nd half of the 1st leg and 1st half tonight and won both halves 1-0..
