Don't know if it's genuine or pessimism by Pep, but his comments towards us is encouraging. Oh and he did praise Ole..
So was it genuine? or trolling?
It's the same as Klopp. Praise us because they know we aren't a threat.Had to bump this thread.

Pep's post match interview:Come on meamth! What did he say?
The subject of United's abilities came up when the Manchester City coach volunteered his thoughts on the recent attack on Ed Woodward's home and he quickly segued onto that much-discussed matter of the club's recruitment. "It is about the players and the players of United are really good, believe me, really good," argued Guardiola.
"I said when we lost here [in December], they don't need much. The quality of players up front is incredible. I have the feeling that they are trying to do what the manager Ole wants and I think it works. Maybe they are not consistent in all the games, maybe at home they struggle against the teams that defend deep, but I like the way they play.
"The quality of Victor Lindelof, I saw it at Benfica. Luke Shaw is an incredibly talent player, Harry Maguire, we are talking about one of the best central defenders in the world. The people up front are so fast, Matic and Fred are incredible players. Matic is an outstanding player. So if you give them time, they will come back to what United was for many years."
"The quality of Victor Lindeloff"Pep's post match interview:
Compared to John Stones and Otamendi, Lindelöf must look like Rio Ferdinand to him."The quality of Victor Lindeloff"
That, right there should tell you straight away that he is taking the piss.
The fact is we're not a very good team, so for me either Pep's inaccurate in his appraisals of our players (for whatever reason) or he's giving Ole a bit of a veiled slap across the face, given he's managing these great players and not producing the goods. Or I suppose he's just trying to be as uncontroversial as possible in a post-match interview.Pep's post match interview:
Yeah and plenty on here thought Ferdinand was shit at the time too. What expertise eh?Compared to John Stones and Otamendi, Lindelöf must look like Rio Ferdinand to him.
I don't know, he seems to have a genuine bond with Ole. He usually complains about one thing after another in losses but he was effusive in his praise even in December. The fact is we're not a very good team, so for me either Pep's inaccurate in his appraisals of our players (for whatever reason) or he's giving Ole a bit of a veiled slap across the face, given he's managing these great players and not producing the goods. Option 1 or 3 then , which I guess are linked. As a fine football manager he cannot possibly look at this squad, and particularly the team we managed to field yesterday with our injuries, and conclude it's full of great players. What I imagine Pep thinks in reality is that we have some good/great players who have the capacity to follow tactical plans to good effect and/or produce moments of individual brilliance to help swing games in our favour. On the other hand I'm sure he's well aware of our vulnerabilities and shortcomings and I'm almost certain if he were on his way into our hot seat he'd be demanding more than a few quality additions to the squad. So yeah I think he respects Ole enough to mind his business when talking about our team but I doubt if he rates us particularly highly as a group.I don't know, he seems to have a genuine bond with Ole. Klopp praised Ole too. I think managers view the scale of the job required to turn things around at United to be far larger than supporters and think Ole has an actual vision which may lead to that turnaround if given time. I don't know if Ole is "the guy" to take us back to the top, but I do think he's the guy to build a squad that fits together and could get there, even if he himself lacks the tactical nous to be the manager that does it.The fact is we're not a very good team, so for me either Pep's inaccurate in his appraisals of our players (for whatever reason) or he's giving Ole a bit of a veiled slap across the face, given he's managing these great players and not producing the goods. He named 5 players who were great for us, and said Maguire was world class.Come on meamth! What did he say?
Thanks Tom. Meamth posted the quotes. I say it’s a mixture of honesty/truth, flattery and respect from Pep.He named 5 players who were great for us, and said Maguire was world class.
5 players were: Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw, Fred, and Matic.
Even Pep a pro football man can see the potential! He named 5 players who were great for us, and said Maguire was world class.
