What peeves me off is why do we keep leaving this to the last minute?

Wooward and the gang need to get their shit together and start acting from the first day. It's like they think it'll force clubs into making a quick decision in a panic? if anything it's the opposite.
Deadline day is always the busiest day of the transfer window for everyone, not just United. For whatever reason, it seems to be the way business is done in football; not everything is Woodward's doing..

Hopefully its a 'take it or leave it' bid. If we're going back to add more ontop ,even if they're add ons, it just looks really incompetent and one that seems to lack obvious planning.

You really have to wonder about our scouting network if the best they can come up with for a stop gap striker is a 28 year old, injury plagued, decent player for £27m.

We could totally use him for the rest of the season in our current situation, but not for any fee that they would accept.
They would accept around 30-35m, around the same price as Willian Jose, who is at a similar level. Weird that so many people are desperate for us to gamble 15m on an Argentinian kid, when we can get a proven PL striker for only twice of that.

Yeah fair enough pal, how silly of me. Didn't realise the 30 day window was just a cover for a last minute splash and dash.

What do we do with him next season.

I tell you what Poch won’t like him. Atleast there will be the deadwood excuse again.

I’ll give him the benefit of being lightening quick but for that price. Mertens is free in the summer just get him now.

I can understand fans being underwhelmed but we need to remember this is the last day of the January window. This is a squad filling signing.

He's quite underrated imo, technically better than most give him credit for. I think in a better side with better players behind him he would be a good backup option. Plus it's a player who has something to prove.

We need bodies and anything to help with top four is a bonus at this stage of the window.

I imagine the logic is a 28 year old striker won’t get too much in the way of Greenwood when he reaches 22-23 years of age.

Loan, yes.
£27m purchase? Feck no. Of the options linked, I would only want us to buy Adolfo Gaich, the others all loans or nothing.
That's like 15 million on yesteryear's value.
Premier league quality, check.
Player in his prime, check.
Decent scoring ability, check.

Seriously you can't get any cheaper than that these days if you want King.

This is depending on Jared Bowen from Hull who looks like he might go to West Ham. I rather we go for him instead.
I know a Hull supporter and he said that as much as Bowen is a star there, a big move to a top 5/6 club is way beyond him.

Agreed. This is appropriate planning of a squad which we have severely lacked until solskjaer

He's a decent player and has matured well since his Blackburn days. I'd have him for his workrate and physical presence alone. He'd be a stop gap initially who might prove to be a nice surprise.

I think he is wanted as the rotation striker. Greenwood has already played 30 games this season, even if you factor in that most were as subs, it's still too much. If we don't get a rotation forward he will end up with up to 50 in his first season. That ain't right.

Second point is that we won't find an elite striker in this window. Haaland was the only good option and he turned us down. Barcelona are also out there trying to find a forward too. The only ones you will find are mostly out of form strikers looking for a place to regain that form. In that sense Joshua King is less of a gamble and would probably accept his place as a squad player when the elite striker/forward is bought.

He's not even good enough to be a rotation striker. £27 mil? We shoulda kept Sanchez. I'm sure even he coulda matched King's 3 league goals.

A big positive with Ole is the reshaping he's done of the squad. Started to get rid of all the 'deadwood'. No matter how bad a manager he was I was confident he was leaving the squad in a much better shape that one he started with.

Signing a mid table 28 year old premier league striker on a long term contract would completely undermine that. That's why I thought we were pushing so hard for loans. We want to continue the progress we've made on the squad.

Really? Given his grand total of 1 league goal in the entirety of last season what are you basing that on?

That's a good point. And won't mind being on the bench when Rashford returns.

Joshua King is a good stop gap solution. Would have preferred someone like Jimenez to fully replace Martial but King is better than nobody.

Shoping for positions now to rectify mistakes from summer, thats hella of squad planning, specially chasing a striker on deadline day to fill Lukaku spot, get somebody on loan till summer, fine but going for already injured player for that sum is just laughable and reeks to all kinds of bs. On top, we wouldnt be able to keep fit a Superman let alone this one.

SAF preferred experienced strikers. I'm all for signing exciting youth with a higher ceiling, but we can't have an entire squad of kids.

Is he not yet another forward who prefers to come off the left to go with Rashford, Martial, James and Sanchez?
